Natural bokeh from the lens rendering, nothing additional done to the bokeh in post-processing.
Photography has a lot of similarities with music. Gear salesmen masquerading as forum shills try to drag you into the deep end with all kinds of snake oil. The more expensive “better” camera, that expensive “super duper” lens, no different from the 99.99999% (ie 7N) high purity oxygen-free copper cables and special equipment that supposedly “cleans” the electricity so that the music is clearer.
Fact is, any half decent camera from the past 15-20 years will do just fine, there is really no need for the so called “latest and greatest”. Once we become more competent in post-processing, camera gear truly becomes secondary at best. All this without even taking the encroaching AI into consideration.
In the realm of music enjoyment, the fierce competition in the Chinese IEM (in-ear-monitor) market has resulted in unprecedented audio quality being available for pittance. Accordingly I’ve been transferring my entire CD collection into microSD cards and enjoying them like never before.
During this exercise, I came across a CD that I don’t even remember buying. It’s by Rimi Natsukawa (夏川 りみ) and in particular her rendition of "Nada Sōsō" (涙そうそう, Great Tears Are Spilling) truly touched a heartstring! That CD must have been almost 20 years old and yet it’s in perfect condition!
Enjoyment need not be measured in dollars and cents, the more expensive hi-fi equipment or more expensive camera equipment truly means nothing except for those who chase after the gear for the sake of gear itself. Been there, done that……
Even in little World the Images have to be transfered to the PC - sometimes the Tinny People do the Job!

This image was created during a freediving session at dawn in a german lake. During this time of day, the low standing sun projects its rays in such a small angle into the water that the light becomes green and yellow. A wonderful time to dive, enjoy the water and watch the fish.
This image was shot with the GoPro Action Camera

One of these pieces of plastic holds one music track (well, two actually if you count the B side!) and one of them holds up to 16,000! If that's not evolution then I don't know what is!

The loveable BMO (Beemo) living video game console character from Adventure Time made out of lego. This is a fully functional portable Raspberry Pi Linux computer. This means it can do pretty much anything you can think of. Plays video, plays games, surfs the web, and more! Of course it cannot make toast, or skateboard like the real BMO...
Here is a short video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFhiCLS5fhg
Here are some details on the internal components:
* Raspberry Pi (Model B)
* 4Gb SD card with Raspbian Linux OS
* 2.5 " TFT display: www.adafruit.com/products/912
* Low-profile microSD card adapter:http://www.adafruit.com/products/966
* Micro-USB cable for power
* Mediasonic USB Battery Pack: www.mediasonic.ca/product.php?id=1359582548 (This sits outside of the BMO)
* A female USB connector and some wires (For the USB port on the front of the BMO). Check out this tutoral for more info on that: www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=32336
This will be on display at Brickcon this coming weekend (Oct 5-6).

REVIEW - The best microSD cards in 2024
The Star Ferry (Chinese: 天星小輪) is a passenger ferry service operator and tourist attraction in Hong Kong.[1] Its principal routes carry passengers across Victoria Harbour, between Hong Kong Island, and Kowloon. The service is operated by the Star Ferry Company, which was founded in 1888 as the Kowloon Ferry Company, and adopted its present name in 1898.
With a fleet of twelve ferries, the company operates two routes across the harbour, carrying over 70,000 passengers per day, or 26 million per year. Even though the harbour is crossed by railway and road tunnels, the Star Ferry continues to provide a scenic yet inexpensive mode of harbour crossing. The company's main route runs between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui.

…….può essere
.
….nei silenzi,…
….via volerà,….
un pensiero profondo.
….odo,
….lontano,
col diffondersi dell’aria,
fra il fruscio delle fronde
fra il buio delle ombre,
una flebile voce. Forse,.....
....è la magia del vento,
oppure, il canto ritmico
del tuo piccolo cuore.
….vicino a me,
….dormi.
Sveglio,…insonne
guardo fuori,…..e
sento il profumato
alito del vento che
pronuncia il tuo nome.
....sussurri lievemente,
con un profondo respiro,
mi avvicino in silenzio…e
vorrei sapere, ascoltare
sotto lo scintillio delle stelle,
i tuoi pensieri,…sono
i sogni del tuo cuore.
Felice di averti accanto,
amaramente abbasso gli occhi, e
con la voce del cuore
grido forte a quel vento:…,
….mi affiderò alle tue ali
quando non sarò più con lui,
fra i sottili fili d'erba mi cullerò
quando nei prati lo troverò,
nella sua ombra mi nasconderò
per stargli sempre vicino,
e…., quando sarà il momento,
in quel mondo incantato,
….può essere, un giorno
fortemente…..lo riabbraccerò.
…………………………….…Luigi Mirto

.
……..may it be
…..in the silence ....
…..will fly away ......
a deep thought.
…..i hear ….....,
…..far away ...,
with the spread of the air,
between the rustling of the leaves
between the darkness of the shadows,
a feeble voice. Perhaps,....
.....is the magic of the wind,
or, the rhythmic chant
your little heart.
…..close to me ....,
…..sleep.
.
Awake,…..awake
i look out, …..and
i feel the fragrant
breath of wind
pronounce your name.
…..whispers slightly,
with a deep breath,
i walk in silence…..and
i want to know, listen
under the twinkling stars,
your thoughts,…..are
the dreams of your heart.
.
Happy to have you near,
bitterly lower my eyes, and
with the voice of the heart
loud cry in the wind: …..
…..i will rely on your wings
when I am no longer with him,
between the thin blades of grass I rock you
when I find him in the meadows,
I will hide in his shadow
to be with him always near,
and ...., when the time comes,
in that enchanted world,
…..may it be, one day
strongly ..... embrace him again.

Perce Rock From the Air
Shot with a Phantom 3 Professional. My Phantom 4, just barely a couple weeks after it arrived, had to be sent in for repairs because the microSD card slot broke and won't hold the card in anymore. So, I used my backup, the Phantom 3 Pro. I miss the smoother controls and better lens optics of the 4, I can't wait to get it back.
`Evolution' of storage mediums.
On the bottom a 3½-inch HD floppy (1986). On the left in the foreground a SD card, to the right a micro SD card. Behind the SD cards a USB stick (256 MB capacity). Right in the background another USB stick (1 GB capacity). And last but not least on the left side in the background, a network cable, so you can access your data in the cloud.
I wish you all a happy Macro Monday and a great week.
It's a tiny little mirrorless TLR, with a horizontal waist-level LCD screen on top - not reversed right-to-left, which would be really cool but not understood by anyone likely to buy it, but very bright. It takes still pictures in color and black & white, and movies. Quality isn't super but not bad for the novelty that it is. Came with a 16GB microSD card in the bottom and a USB-C charging cord, and a wide neck strap in the best 1970s fashion. The hood folds just like the ones in F series Rolleis. Very slick little guy.

One of my favorite parts of traveling is always interacting with the local people and getting to experience some of the culture and daily life. On our way back to Bagan from Mount Popa we drove miles on a back road to visit Sat Sat Yo village, a small village in the Nyaung Oo township, near Myanmar's ancient city of Bagan. The children in Sat Sat Yo are known for their ancient hairstyle known as Sanyitwine. Before colonial rule, all of the country's boys and girls wore their hair this way. Sat Sat Yo village is now the only place left in Myanmar where children still have their hair tied in this traditional style.
Before our trip Michael and I both picked up a Kodak Polaroid knowing or hoping we may have moments like this. The kids loved them and pretty much clicked through all our paper. Was pretty cool having backups saved to a microSD so they could keep the small paper prints and we got to keep the digital versions.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 5 - its fastest phablet ever - in India on Monday. Samsung's Note range of 'productivity' phablets is one among the top consumer electronics products that has seen a gradual evolution to greater usefulness with time and Samsung is very proud of it, so it should. Getting rid of plastic means the Note 5 is also noticeably lighter and slimmer than the Note 4. At 7.6 mm and 171 grams the Note 5 is closer in line to the iPhone 6 Plus. More importantly, the Note 5 is a 5.7-inch phone and it doesn't at all feel that way. The lighter and slimmer frame along with 'good' ergonomics mean the Note 5 is easier to operate while on the move - something that a business user won't mind. The Note 5 carries the same screen as its predecessor: a 5.7-inch QuadHD Super AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and 518ppi pixel density. While QuadHDs don't necessarily mean 'better' output (our eyes can't discern beyond FullHD), Samsung's Super AMOLED displays have built a reputation for themselves on the positive end of the spectrum. The Note 5 is bright and crisp to look at and has excellent viewing angles (in indoor situation where we tested it). The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The Note 5 is powered by a 2.1GHz Octa-core Exynos 7420 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with the company's new TouchWiz Ui on top. The new UI has visible reduction in bloatware with app/widget icons getting a fresh coat of paint as well. The Note 5 will have two internal memory variants: a 32GB and a 64GB with no microSD card slot. The Note 4 had one. The Note 5 carries the same screen as its predecessor: a 5.7-inch QuadHD Super AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and 518ppi pixel density. The Note 5 will have two internal memory variants: a 32GB and a 64GB with no microSD card slot. The Note 4 had one. Moving on, you don't need to power up your phone to start using the S pen. Mere ejecting it opens a black window where you can take a note (or write a memo) that you can then save or delete as per your wish. Also, the phone would remind you if you haven't attached the pen back in once you've turned it down (like before). The 'smartness' doesn't end there. The Note 5's stylus comes with a new and improved Air Command option that's more intuitive than before via a floating icon that you can access and move as you like. Also, it supports shortcuts (three at max) in addition to the default note-taking stuff. Moreover, you can now write on PDF files as well. The Note 5 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation, autofocus, and LED flash (just like the Note 4). But, things have been different ever since the S6 came along on this front, so we are looking at something on similar lines (and an improvement over the Note 4). The phablet also comes with a 5-megapixel front camera. Another compromise the Note 5 makes over its predecessor is a smaller battery. The Note 5 uses a 3,000mAh battery (the Note 4 had a 3,220 mAh battery) and it's still non-removable. There's little doubt that the Note 5 is smarter and sexier than the Note 4 and is easily the best Note ever, on paper. It does come with a few compromises, and it is still not water and dust-resistant, but when you look at the broader picture the positives outnumber the negatives on this one. Second point to note is its mammoth pricing: Rs.53,900 for the 32GB variant and Rs.59,900 for the 64GB variant. Samsung justifies this by saying that the Note 5 is a one-of-its-kind phablet in the 'productivity' segment of phones. It may not be entirely wrong when it says this. Also, it suggests that the Note 5 is not meant for everybody. For the 'select' few it's targeting, the Note 5 might still be bang for the buck. youtu.be/aDmQjLIICR8
SMARTPHONES THAT COMPETE WITH THE CAMERA
⠀
Recently told you what 📷 cameras can be purchased in 2020. And today I will tell you about the phones 📱 , which are not worse, and maybe even better than some cameras.
⠀
All manufacturers claim: "we have a large number of megapixels". And therefore the pictures will be 🔥 fire. But it is important to note that if the lens is of poor quality, then the result will be appropriate.
⠀
There are many nuances, how to choose the best smartphone, with a perfect camera. Interesting? Write 💻 in the comments, and I will make a separate post.
⠀
1. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
Day and night-high 👍 the quality of the photo.
⠀
RAM 12 GB. +128 GB memory which can be expanded thanks to microSD.
⠀
2. Xiaomi Mi Note 10
5 lenses: Main 108 Mpx, ultra wide-Angle 20 Mpx, telephoto 12 and 5 Mpx, macro 2 Mpx.
As a result, you get excellent detailed images. With a natural image both day and night 🌃 .
⠀
3. Google Pixel 3a
There are not as many cameras in this phone as we are already used to seeing. And the design isn't exactly a bomb. But still, the phone shows great pictures. Even with one lens.
⠀
64GB of memory, unfortunately, without the ability to expand.
⠀
💬 And what phone do you use? Are you happy with the camera? Share it in the comments.

These images show the internal structure of a no-name 512GB and Sandisk 1TB microSD card. The 1TB card's internal structure is unclear in the main view, although the bond wires are clearly visible; when you look at the side-on view (above) you can see that it actually comprises two stacks of at least 15 incredibly thin silicon dies arranged in a stepwise formation.
The 512GB device also has multi-layer construction, but to a much less extreme level.
The reason for X-Raying the on-edge images from different edges is that the cards have different arrangements. On the 512GB card, the bond wires across the 'top' edge ('pins' end) mean that looking through the length of the device was unproductive. On the other hand, the 1TB card has the majority of its connections on the left side, as viewed, meaning that it was only possible to get a clear view through the long path.
Both devices feature a smaller die on the bottom right corner, presumably a control device of some sort. In the case of the 1TB card, the controller is actually tucked in underneath some of the memory dies.
The X-Ray images were made using a Faxitron cabinet-type X-Ray machine with solid-state sensor. The design completely shields users from any risk of exposure. Please, for the sake of your health and that of those around you, do not attempt to use any sort of unshielded or otherwise unsafe X-Ray equipment. You cannot feel, see, touch or smell X-Rays but they are known to be harmful and the damage is cumulative.
I retain the copyright of this image and all its parts, but will sympathetically consider requests for re-use.

Since Schedulr seems like it's going to be a thing of the past, for Sunday afternoon I'll post a couple of product photos *and* a memento photo, the latter which of course were previously uploading Monday mornings. Going forward, I don't exactly know how I'll handle the loss of Schedulr yet, but most likely it'll be more photos less often, which is pretty much what everybody else does anyway. (Seriously, searching out Schedulr on flickr gave me a total of about four people using it in the past, and I think two or three of those people quit using it a while back)! The two O.B. Kroger photos yesterday were completely unplanned, but I figured if I don't have the ability to schedule uploads, might as well do some spur of the moment stuff from time to time :P
Anyway, on to the subject at hand: My local Southaven Office Depot always seems to be an amusing place to take photos at. While this 2011-dated shelf décor was seen and photographed a little over a year ago, pretty sure it was still there as of the beginning of this summer (2019). Present day an 8GB storage device would be considered sub-low end. Fast forward to 2019, and 1TB microSD cards can be found now (mind blown!), but those are still about $400!!
(Disclaimer: not making fun of anyone using small capacity stuff, since a lot of people don't even have the need to tote around 1GB. I use a 4GB flash drive at work, and that's really way too big for what I do there, but it was hard finding anything smaller even a couple of years ago)!
