De waterlelievlinder of het waterleliemotje (Elophila nymphaeata) is een vlinder uit de familie grasmotten (Crambidae).
Met een spanwijdte van 22 tot 30 millimeter is het een vrij kleine vlinder. De vleugels zijn wit met bruine cirkels.
De vlinder is voornamelijk te vinden in vijvers en poelen met drijvend fonteinkruid, waterlelie en gele plomp. De eitjes worden onder water afgezet op bladranden. De rupsen maken kokertjes van stukjes blad, die aanvankelijk met water gevuld zijn en later lucht bevatten, als de rupsen overgaan op luchtademhaling. De verpopping vindt onder water plaats.
De vliegperiode van de waterlelievlinder is van mei tot en met september met een vliegpauze in juli. De soort is in Nederland en België een gewone soort. De vlinder is vooral 's nachts actief. Overdag zit hij meestal aan de onderzijde van bladeren.

The Brown China Mark (Elophila nymphaeata) is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. It is found in Europe. The moth is notable as its larva, like most members of the crambid subfamily Acentropinae, is aquatic and has tracheal gills.
The wingspan is 16–20 mm. The moth flies from May to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on Potamogeton, Nymphaeaceae and Nuphar lutea.

This set was released almost ten years ago, but the fun doesn't end here. In the past couple years we've been graced with some remarkable parts that you can see in this build. They're great for small scale details:

This whole project of building these mini modulars started with the 40181 Bricktober Pizza Place, which my partner eventually wanted to replace with their own restaurant. This is what we came up with! I'm especially happy with the upper floor.
Just a little miniature B-25B I decided to build my son to go with the big B-25B I recently built. It went together surprisingly fast. Started working on it in LDD while I was sitting at the airport waiting to fly a photo mission and it was done by 5:30 after I got home.

Alle Dinge entspringen dieser „Gesamtheit“ denn diese ist ein Zustand, nämlich der „In Eins Kehrung“ aller vorhandenen Dinge. Die Umkehrung in die Vielzahl bringt den Urknall und das Leben. Mit dem Urknall tritt die Zeit und mit dieser schließlich Wissen und Bewusstheit über das Bewusstsein in Erscheinung.
Bewusstsein erkennt, dass es erkennt. Sich selbst. In Funktion.
Spekulationen über das, was wahrnimmt.
Der kleine und der große Kosmos bilden im Universum ein und dasselbe – eben dieses. Daher werden die Begriffe häufig analog verwendet. Dennoch sind im Universum sowohl der geordnete Kosmos wie auch das Chaos enthalten. Kosmos und Chaos sind Kinder des Universums.
Der („unus versus“) in eins gekehrte Mensch erkennt, dass er Erkennender und Erkanntes ist. Oder Liebender und Geliebter. Die in der Mystik verwendeten Begriffe die das Eine aus den Gegensätzen bilden sind zahlreich.
Das sichtbare und das unsichtbare Universum sind ein und dasselbe. Die Erfahrung und das Ego-Bewusstsein aber trennen sie.
Das Ego ist kein bedauerlicher Fehler, für mich ist es eine äußerst gewünschte Funktion der Psyche, denn es ermöglicht mir ein Leben mit den derzeitigen Erfahrungen, die ich ansonsten nicht machen könnte.
Für mich stellt sich immer nur die Frage nach der Intensität des Egos. Wie stark trenne ich mich von dem, was ich sehe? Wie intensiv ist in mir die Vorstellung wirksam, die Welt sei etwas von mir Getrenntes? Zweifellos ist sie das von Seiten der Erfahrung her, doch aus der „unus versus“ Perspektive entspringt alles einer einzigen Quelle: dem universellen, dem einen oder dem quantierten Bewusstsein.
Das quantierte Bewusstsein ist von allen Selbstbeschränkungen befreit, da die Gegensätze und damit alles, was beschränken könnte, im „unus versus“ vereint sind. Das Gefühl, bei „Bewusstsein zu sein“ entspringt dem universalen Bewusstsein als Unterfunktion.
Botschaft des obigen Bild Orakels: Wendet sich das alltägliche Bewusstsein mit einem Teil seiner Aufmerksamkeit dem inneren Kosmos zu beginnt der Wachstumsprozess in Richtung Einheit. Die Einheit liegt Innen, in der Einkehr. Das äußere und sichtbare Universum ist ein Spiegelbild des inneren, der „geistigen Matrize“ könnte man sagen. Doch sind beide nur von der Wahrnehmung aus getrennt.
Aus Sicht des UV, des in eins gekehrten Bewusstseins sind die Welten nicht getrennt, denn jede einzelne entspringt wie eine gespiegelte Reflexion dem Einen oder der Quelle. Abgesehen von dieser Quelle existiert nichts Wirkliches und diese Quelle liegt in jedem Menschen selbst. Seine Wahrnehmung ist die Quelle. Alles was existiert sind Wahrnehmungen und die aus ihnen gemachten Erfahrungen des Augenblicks.
Die Quantenphysik bestätigt die Nichtexistenz der Existenz. Doch die Existenz dessen, was wahrnimmt bedarf keiner Bestätigung, denn sie nimmt sich selbst wahr. Das quantierte Bewusstsein nimmt wahr, dass es sich wahrnimmt. Es erkennt: Ich bin.
Wobei ich nicht weiß, wer oder was ich bin… ;-)) Ich habe nämlich keine Ahnung, was Bewusstsein wirklich ist. Ich kenne „es“ nur aus und als Erfahrung.

The previous weeks' escapades with microscale spacecraft left me itching for something more substantial...and something more asymmetrical. A bit of the inspiration for this probably stems from David Simon's Niobe, but I think I mostly just wanted to expand on last week's cockpit section.
On a separate note related only by the fact that I was listening to the audiobooks while building: what do people have to say about the Ender's Game sequels and prequels? I enjoyed the first half of Xenocide enormously, but toward the end it reached a level of metaphysical weirdness I don't know if I can put up with much more. For any other science nerds out there: is Children of the Mind actually worthwhile? I can deal with the suspension of disbelief that deals with philotic communication, but the whole "children" part just seems like stupid philosophical drivel. Your opinions?
Unable to abandon Mr Card's narrative completely, I moved to the new prequel trilogy and built this MOC mostly while listening to Earth Unaware. Thus far it is enjoyable, relatively believable, and, in contrast to the later Ender books, a bit more grounded in known physics. The one criticism I have is his justification for forcing the human ships to slow or even "stop" in order to spacewalk or dock.
A really really really old MOC. I just haven't had a lot of time to build recently so lately I've been digging into my hard drive and seeing what I could come up with. This is what I found.... meh.
But, in the mean time while I try to come up with some new creations I will be posting setup shots for all my photography LEGO shots.
There is no sense crying over every mistake, we'll just keep on trying 'til we run out of cake.
Purists beware, to make the eyes of the turrets I used a sharp knife to cut off thin slices from the bar end of a red rubber spike (part 64727).
I loved the silhouettes of these people walking their dogs on Mossyard beach. The dogs were having a great time fetching sticks from the sea!

The Tantive IV was the last and biggest ship on my micro scale to-do list. Its close to the size of set 75244 but I’ve aimed to give it a lot more detail and accuracy. I've done my best to make sure each hull section is the right size and proportions with as much detail as possible.
The modular hull sections are connected to an internal Technic frame. The ship is strong, pretty easy to pick up (as long as you avoid those fins) and rests firmly on a small stand which can easily be made taller or a different colour. Inside the Technic frame is the ship interior and crew! The two roof sections can be removed to reveal the main corridor which connects the cockpit to the docking bays near the engines. The upper deck also comes off to show a central conference room with engineering corridors and removable escape pods either side. The 4-stud high crew and interior features aren’t to scale sadly, but hopefully they stand out as a nice extra feature for the ship!
This was by far the biggest and heaviest moc I’ve attempted so far, it was a new challenge for me but I really enjoyed the process. I’ve put instructions for this and the Liberator colour scheme on Rebrickable (link below), and thrown in the Millennium Falcon, Ghost and plenty of Rebel Starfighters in the hope that someone likes it enough to make a little Rebel fleet :)

After falling a little short on my last attempt to build a micro freight terminal, I decided to give it another try. This time, I used a smaller scale (1:305 instead of 1:200) and narrowed the scope a little so that I could include all of the details that were missing from the first one.
This diorama is a section of a small, manned freight terminal, designed to handle both containerized and RO-RO cargo. A Panamax class container ship is docked at the quay and is ready to be unloaded. In the staging areas of the terminal are the cargo from a recently unloaded RO-RO ship, including a fleet of new cars and some heavy equipment (including a few ultra-class, 400-ton mining trucks). Yard trucks and reach stackers are busy moving containers around the yard, and there are two fully loaded freight trains on the rail spurs ready to pull out.
A little build I did as a subject to experiment with Mechabricks. It is not based on any actual cathedral (in fact, I didn't even look at any pictures of real cathedrals as I built this).
I'm planning to run it through Bluerender as well and compare the results.

The tiniest of our wrens, the Pacific Wren is only four inches. I am always so thrilled to see this little brown puffball. Hard to shoot as it is in deep shade mostly.
A black micro skater skirt. The skirt is made from a lightweight cotton and so really benefits from being worn over a multi-layered micro petticoat. :-)
In moving the collection out of the cramped attic room it was in and into a better space, a lot of WIPs, scraps, and loose random bits got swept into a box to be dealt with later. Later turned out to be today, when in the process of trying to build something I needed a part I know I have several of but could not find anywhere. Maybe they were rattling around in that box?
They were not. I still have no idea where the hell those pieces are. But I did unearth some tablescraps that were complete and interesting(?) enough to dust off and take some pictures of.
I still like the three on the bottom and may find a use for them in some future scene, but the two pieces of crap up top are slated for immediate demolition.
Here's my take on a micro Titanic!
Simplicity is beautiful - and microscale really showcase this beauty. In such MOCs, every piece has its place, every piece has a meaning and every piece is used at its best.
This teeny tiny ship may have took only 5 minutes to design, yet I am very proud of it.
How is it built? The ship is balanced! Try it, it works!
