Woensdag 12 maart 2015 organiseerde Centrum Duurzaam is samenwerking met Frysklab een Challenge voor studenten bouw, ICT en techniek. In deze Challenge gingen ongeveer 100 studenten aan de slag met een 3-tal praktijkvragen van de Provinsje Fryslan en de Energie Corporatie Westeinde. Aan het eind van de dag verrasten de studenten de opdrachtgevers met verfrissende ideeën en nieuwe inzichten. Volgens Steffen Hofstra, realisatiemanager Centrale As Provinsje Fryslan, is het de studenten gelukt om in een korte tijd nieuwe ideeën te vinden en vorm te geven.
Duurzame verkeersbrug
Ontwerp een beweegbare fietsbrug Ritsumasyl was de praktijkopdracht van Trienke Lantinga, projectleider Provinsje Fryslan. Studenten bouw, ict en techniek gingen nadenken over hernieuwbare materialen (bio composiet) en innovatieve en duurzame constructies / bewegingsmechanismes. De studenten bedachten brugoplossingen op basis van creativiteit, innovatie en aantrekkingskracht. Een 5-tal bruggen kwamen in de presentaties naar voren: de Duikerbrug, de Kabelbrug, de Jezusbrug, de Tunnelbrug en de Sipelbrug. Volgens Trienke Plantinga hield de Jezusbrug zelfs rekening met economische spin-offs (fietsverhuur, restaurant, fotoservice)
Energie neutrale bouwplaats
Steffen Hofstra stelde de studenten de praktijkvraag hoe te komen tot een energie neutrale bouwplaats. De studenten bouw, ICT en techniek presenteerden een 5-tal ideeën : betoninnovatie (een betonelement met gras/mos ) geprint en al, bouwlamp op zonne-energie, marktplaats voor bouwmaterialen, bouwstopcontact met pinpas en hybride bouwmachines (met zonnepanelen). Volgens Steffen Hofstra bruikbare ideeën die de doelstelling van een energieneutrale bouwplaats dichterbij brengen. Steffen Hofstra is opdrachtgever namens de Provincie Fryslân en specifiek namens de Projectorganisatie De Centrale As.
Energieneutrale woning
Bekijk op welke wijze de woningen in de wijk Westeinde minder energie kunnen gaan verbruiken en geef aan welke methoden daarvoor zijn was de praktijkopdracht van Energiecorporatie Westeinde.
Een groep studenten kwam met de rigoureuze oplossing van de huidige wijk slopen en de wijk opnieuw opbouwen. Ook kwamen subsidiemaatregelen aan de orde om bewoners te stimuleren om energiezuinige maatregelen toe te passen. Er is sprake van een mix van maatregelen om te komen tot een energieneutrale woning: zonnepanelen op dak en zonnescherm, aardwarmte en isolatie. Studenten hebben tal van manieren op papier gezet en de resultaten waren goed en vooral verrassend, aldus Tjeerd Hoekstra van Energiecorporatie Westeinde.
Challenge
Tijdens een Challenge gaan studenten aan de slag met een concrete vraag van een bedrijf of een andere opdrachtgever. Via een korte reeks workshops (een dagdeel) ontdekken studenten bijvoorbeeld de principes van digitale fabricage en design by tinkering (knutselen). Ook werken de studenten aan het ontwikkelen van een businessmodel (Canvas) en ontwerpen ze een prototype. Uiteindelijk pitchen de studenten het resultaat aan de opdrachtgever.
Frysklab
FryskLab is het mobiele FabLab (fabrication laboratory) van Fryslân, een initiatief van Bibliotheekservice Fryslân (BSF). Met FryskLab wil BSF onderzoeken hoe creatieve maakprocessen bijdragen aan de creatieve, technische en ondernemende vaardigheden van met name kinderen en jongeren.

Centrum Duurzaam wil, als onderdeel van ROC Friese Poort, de kennis en ervaring bij het bedrijfsleven benutten voor het opleiden van jonge vakmensen in de praktische toepassing van innovatieve duurzame technieken. Tevens wil Centrum Duurzaam met goede en objectieve voorlichting de toepassing van deze technieken bij bedrijven en particulieren stimuleren. Kennis, ervaring en vakmanschap voor een duurzame wereld.

This is another (failed) attempt at the Brenizer method, using 8 shots. I shot this with my 18-55mm Nikkor zoom lens at 28mm and f/4.5. I got the shallow dof and the bokeh background that I wanted, but the PSE11 photomerge produced scrambled images. I had to crop the bottom off because the bottom of the vase was scrambled, and if you look, you’ll see that the tree trunk behind the flowers is chopped up. :-) I might have been able to get a better result if I arranged the photos myself but I don’t know how to do that yet, and didn’t have time to learn. This definitely was a learning experience for me so thanks, Ron, for the challenge! It’s motivated me to finally buy that 50mm lens I’ve been procrastinating on. That, and I need to add more memory to my computer because it didn’t really like doing photomerge. Then I will definitely try this again!

This part is critical. The clay must be flexible and no less than No 4. Difficult to see, but I have a piece of very fine material that I press onto the inner side of the piece. This reinforces and adds strength. There must be no weakness or cracks in the clay and the fold point. It is to be wrapped around the foil covered lozenge. In later work I have laminated in a stronger cloth.

Some disagree and say Dark Matter is nonexistent and or immaterial. I respectful disagree, and hopefully have provided additional information in order to assist with understanding how my view came to be on this subject, such that some some new common ground can be broken by bacteria being the dark energetic means and motor along with algae as the agents of the fixation and productions of the nitrogen that is the gas of the Universe.
As more data is generated in understanding how perspective can never stay the same as per the logic contained in a draconian application of the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorentz_transformation to a unwillingness to see the shadow as being cast by the flip side of a reflection, as light is consumed by and transformed by the power of life the is the foam of space which are quarks of bacterial nuclei in repair.

My take on Illustration Friday's theme for the week of July 20, 'Poem,' which I thought would be fun to illustrate using the idea of pulling random words and phrases from a box and gluing them down pretty much as they came out to make a poem.
First attempt at a Brenizer method image (also called Bokehrama), pioneered by Ryan Brenizer.
