Last two days have been perservering with doll painting even though I wasn't feeling well and the weather turned rainy. l had already given all my pieces a few coats of Citadel Purity Seal I figured I'd use the chance to try out @anan.doll 's sponged liquitex matte varnish in earnest. You can see the hot water tray I used to warm the varnish. It did come out matte, unlike when I used it cold. It worked pretty well on the hands except for where it was too hard to sponge between the fingers. For this much blushing in crevices I'd still prefer spray sealant, but it's okay.
So. Same sponged varnish sealing method as the hands here (described in my previous post) but at picture 3 I had a bad, rough coat. I think the issue was that it had just been too long since I poured fresh varnish and it was thickening up, even though I was changing out the hot water. I ended up with some gross rough patches that trapped pastel and just made the thing a mess. (On top of that, the subtle light blue pastel turned gray when sealed and increased the dirty look even more. Why l haven't learned on that by now I have no idea.)
.
.
By the time I got to paintwork I knew the faceup was a mess and I wouldn't want to keep it so I just did a rough job with watercolors. I was in no mood to mix acrylics, haha. The varnish lifted that more than it ever did the pastels but I didn't care anymore by then, I just wanted him to have a face, haha.

www.1001pallets.com/2015/01/easily-dismantle-wooden-palle...
A friend send us this video on how to easily dismantle a pallet with a simple hammer and a plank without breaking the planks of the pallet. He tried this method and confirm to us that this method is one of the best to avoid breaking all the planks of the pallets and the best is that you don't need any sophisticated tools but only a hammer and a plank!
Did you try it ?
Here is the explanations before the video:
Begin by turning the pallet upside down and knocking the chocks (wooden supporting blocks) out. The technique here is to distribute your blows with the lump mallet between the three blocks and gradually knock the section apart. Once you have done this to all three supporting sections place these pieces underneath the main body of the pallet. Using the claw hammer knock the revealed nails through their holes. Try to get all nails out of the wood otherwise you risk damaging your tools when using the pieces for your next project. Knocking nails out of wood is a skill. A skill albeit that you most likely will never write on your CV but one that nonetheless require you to be patient and accurate. Use the lump mallet to rock the nails into shape if they bend. If a nail becomes to malleable cut it in half using pliers or a hacksaw and try knocking it out again. Once those nails are out use the prybar to take strips of wood. In this case as there are seven strips all the odd number strips are released using the even number strips to pivot the prybar. Turn the remaining section over and again on the blocks knock the last strips of wood out.
Be careful when knocking the chokes of their strips to avoid squashing your fingers. Also take care to avoid kneeling or standing on the nails. The nails are ribbed and not for your pleasure. They also have shards of metal attached to them from however they were arranged in a nail gun. Try not to run your fingers along them otherwise you will receive metal splinters along with wooden ones if you decide not to wear work gloves.
This project is part of the Ars Electronica Garden Auckland, Aotearoa.
We collaborated with students from Clendon Park and Manurewa High School to create a world first with an inspiring and thought-provoking narrated light display on Auckland’s Harbour Bridge, sponsored by Vector Lights. Students from both schools came together at Clendon Park School in groups of 4 – a mix of primary and high school students. They were coached by Method to think about what clean and creative technology meant and how this technology could be used to create brighter futures for us all. Inspired by the clean tech and creative tech initiatives, the students worked with Method to create their dreams for the world. We took the students’ ideas, drawings and illustrations and wove them into a story about the past, present, and future of our world. The final animation turned these thoughts and dreams into a dynamic light show, and accompanied by a voice over story narrated by the students blazed across the Waitematā Harbour

Oslo International Film Festival 2011 opens with a gala screening of David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method on Wednesday, November 16th. We are proud to present the Canadian director’s latest feature film. A Dangerous Method premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this fall, and has since had great success at the film festivals in Toronto, New York, London and Vienna. In his third collaboration with Cronenberg, leading man Viggo Mortensen is cast as Sigmund Freud. The promising psychiatrist Carl Jung is portrayed by Michael Fassbender. Keira Knightley plays Sabina Spilrein, the young Russian patient who will have a decisive influence on the the relationship between Freud and Jung and their work. The plot takes place in Vienna and Zürich in the years prior to World War I. Based on real events, the film tells the story about the pioneers of psychoanalysis and the conflict between them.

Dharamshala: - Chinese authorities arbitrarily arrested five Buddhist monks during raid at Nyatso Zilkar Monastery in Kyegudho County in Kham region of eastern Tibet and situation at the monastery still remains tense as hundreds of armed Chinese military forces and police were deployed.
"Before the incident, the local Chinese government officials of Tridu county and Gatoe Yultso town told the working officials at Zilkar Monastery, that some officials will visit the monastery, to handle the government houses being built for earthquake survivors," sources from inside Tibet said.
But, around 10-am, (Tibet Time), Over sixty buses and cars load of over two hundred armed Chinese security forces and police arrived, they have soon surrounded the Monastery and immediately started raiding monks' residences. The authorities detained five monks and took away their computer, printer, CDs and so on, Sangyal, a Tibetan from Kyegudho, currently living in South India told TPI.
According to a report received by the Dharamshala based exile independent media 'The Tibet Post International' (TPI), Sonam Sherab, 45, son of Tsondue Dhonden from Gyachen village, Lobsang Jinpa, 30, son of Tagyal and Pema Tso (mother) from Geshing village, Tsultrim Kalsang, 25, son of Athup and Dolkar from Khar-rong village, Ngawang Monlam, 30, son of Samyag and Tsewang Pema from Geshing village, and Sonam Yignyen, 44, son of Tsondue Loden and Wangmo Dolma, were detained by security personnel on 1 September 2012 from their residence at Gyalrong Tsodun Monastery. Their current condition and whereabouts remain unknown.
"Several monks have been severely beaten up who had tried to complain about the detaining and beating of their colleagues," sources added.
"According to local people near the monastery, over sixty military vehicles load of over two hundred armed Chinese security forces and police passed through that on Saturday morning headed for the Zilkar Monastery," the sources said.
"It is not about the government built houses for earthquake survivors, the four monks' arrest was also as part of a previously planned military crackdowns and raid," he added.
Sonam Sherab was arrested for Photographing Chinese armed police and forces when they first arrived. However, it is not clear on what charges the four other Tibetan monks were detained and there is no information on the locations of their detention.
Security presence and surveillance have been stepped up. The authorities also allegedly cut off the power supply and telephone connection of the monastery, sources from Tibet continued.
In June, 2012, Ngawang Norpel, 22, and Tenzin Khedup, 24, died in self-immolation in Tridu County, Kyegundho, where five tibetan monks were detained.
In February this year, three Tibetan monks from the Zilkar monastery- Sonam Gewa, Lobsang Samten, and Lobsang Nyima were arrested. Sources said, it is widely suspected that the Tibetan monks were arbitrarily detained in connection with the recent self-immolations and mass protests that occurred in the region.
Sangyal said that the Zilkar Monastery in Kham region has a long history, currently introduce hundreds of students to the methods and skills involved in Tibetan language and to develop their ability to keep cultural identity within the field of Buddhist Studies.
