A message honoring Theodore Thomas adorns the wall behind the statue of Columbia. His ideas and achievements helped the city of Chicago in the early days, so why not give him a place to live on forever in this glorious city?
Le messager sagittaire est un rapace diurne de grande taille qui vit dans les zones arides de l'Afrique sub-saharienne. Endémique du continent africain, c'est une espèce monotypique, seul membre de la famille des sagittaridés. Du fait de son corps de rapace et de ses longues pattes d'échassier, on ne peut le confondre avec d'autres oiseaux de proie. En effet, aucun autre membre de l'ordre des accipitriformes ne lui ressemble. Son comportement, essentiellement terrestre, est également unique pour un rapace africain. De par sa silhouette, sa couleur grise et son comportement, il peut être confondu avec certaines grues ou outardes.
La tête, au sommet d'un cou assez allongé, est relativement petite. Le bec gris clair est fort et crochu. Un masque facial rouge orangé, dépourvu de plume, entoure les yeux. À l'arrière de la tête, il a une crête constituée de grandes plumes noires légèrement spatulées.
Sa queue grise, étroite, filiforme et rayée par deux bandes noires, arbore une paire de plumes centrales plus longues. Les primaires ainsi que les plumes de la partie haute de ses pattes sont noires.
Les longs tarses (de 27,8 à 34,2 cm), rosâtres et sans plumes, sont recouverts d'épaisses écailles qui le protègent des morsures des serpents, une de ses proies. Les serres, puissantes, sont bien adaptées à son mode de prédation.

Pura Vida: Pure Life - Contextually, it means “Full of Life” “Purified life”, “This is living!”, “Going great!”
A memorial mass was held in Ballyfermot on Saturday the 25th January 2025 to celebrate the Life of Tom Hyland from Le Fanu Road, Ballyfermot who was a human rights activist who campaigned for East Timor which was occupied by Indonesia from 1975. Tom’s Family was joined by President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina, The Sheils and the O’ Rourke families who were all great friends to the Hyland family over many years. Neighbours, friends, and many people from Ballyfermot. Also Joined by people that travelled from all over the world to be there. Fr Adrian Egan P.P of Our Lady of the Assumption Church celebrated the Mass.
Then back to the Civic Centre in Ballyfermot for a reception Joe Duffy who M.C for the evening and who was also involved with Tom when he started his campaign for East Timor in 1992. Many people spoke and sent video messages of Tom’s great work of many years.

Safety
One of my favorite opening sentences. Focused on the first sentence when I took the picture and then blurred the rest even more in LR, applied a clarity brush with sharpness and saturated the sentence to make it bolder and sharper. The warm light is all from LR edits (low exposure and added warmth).
