Yet more photos and more final edits! I was up at 4:30 AM the past four days shooting sunrises! Awesome sunrises over Point Dume thie time of year in Malibu.
Then I spent all day today moving over 75 large photos into the gallery! Most of these are framed and matted with 13"x19" metallic prints and an 18"x24" mat and a 3" wood-grain black frame! They look awesome! Stop on by Bel Air Camera's Gallery downstairs if you are close to UCLA or in Westwood. Give me a head's up, and I will meet you there if I'm free.
I thought I was done a couple days ago for December's LA Gallery show, but art is never done until it's done, and even then. . . Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for December's Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!

Roughly 1998-2000. It was my first digital camera, with no less than 640x480 resolution, which is 0.3 MegaPixel.

At Eindhoven Airport. "10 jaar Arke", "10 years Arke" Size ±30 megapixels. Registration "PH-TFA" and named "Ferdinand Fransen".
The original photo is a 88 megapixel panoramic shot created with an Olympus E-500 DSLR and a Zuiko 40-150 telephoto lens at 71 mm. I estimate the final view angle to be about 30 mm (35 mm eqv.).
The beautiful Morava canyon begins with this short tunnel directly after the points of mainline railway station Kral'ovany (Kralován) on the Bratislava (Pozsony, Pressburg) - Žilina (Zsolna) - Košice (Kassa) railway in the valley of the river Vah (Vág) accross the Northern Carpathian Mountains.

A 5 Megapixel offering from Olympus, announced January 2006 - a little before it became obvious that SD cards had won the format battle. Also known as the Olympus FE-115. Uses XD cards for storage, two AA cells for power. 2.8x zoom lens (6.2-17.4 / f3 - 5; 35mm equivalent 38-106mm ) plus 4x digital zoom.
Quite small - about 3.5 inches at its widest.

This is a *test* image from tonight's shooting session with Allen. The original file approaches 100 Megapixels (you read that right!) Even cropped, the image sits at 17076 pixels wide, 5168 pixels tall. If one were to print it at 300dpi, the print would be about 57" x 17".

Yes, I actually shot this as HDR. No, I'm not going to post process it tonight.

Shot on a EF100mm F/2.8 USM Macro lens; n=24 (15 deg arc), 6 shots.
Original photoshop PSD: 1.2Gb.
This file is so large in size that Lightroom can't even open the exported JPG.
On my Athlon X2 3000 with 4Gb of RAM, the stitching, vignetting removal, lens distortion correction and conversion to 8bit JPG took over an hour of computing time.
To do this in HDR, it would take: 6 shots x 7 exposures x 120Mb per exposure. Probably will come close to approaching the old 4Gb FAT32 file size limit for the Photoshop file!
