Read my full review of the Fuij FinePix A500 Digital Camera on Epinions.
At its most basic, the FinePix A500 is a small, easily carried, 5.1 megapixel digital camera that uses 2 AA batteries for power, stores images on either 12 megabytes of internal memory or on an xD memory card, has a 1.8 inch LCD monitor, offers a 3x optical zoom lens and can record video without any sound. The problems are in the details though and my experiences with this camera have been less than perfect, but not so bad that I’m ready to get rid of the camera. The major issues I’ve discovered over time have been with the clarity of the photos and the focusing ability of the camera. More often than not, I find myself taking multiple photos of the same thing, hoping that at least some of them will come out as clearly and as sharply as possible, knowing that at least some of them will be blurry or out of focus.

Well, I went back through over 100 photos tonight and re-edited them! I thought I was done a couple days ago for December's LA Gallery show, but art is never done until it's done, and even then. . . Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for December's Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!

ift.tt/2MYsuXv Fujifilm recently announced the medium-sized GFX-50R camera, but this is not the only camera coming for large digital sensor enthusiasts. The company also announced that it will launch a 100 megapixel GFX camera next year, which will feature the IBIS feature.
Fujifilm has not provided much details about this camera, although it is expected to cost around $ 10,000 when released sometime in the next year. In addition to the IBIS feature, this camera will be able to shoot 4K video clips.
Two years have passed since Fujifilm announced the GFX-50S, the first digital camera in the company's medium format. Since then, it has released several lenses and announced more options for lenses that slide on the spear.
The new camera has a large design of the DSLR-like GFX-50S, and it seems to have a built-in grip from the bottom, which actually increases its expansion.

Here is the deal. Please don't try to enlarge any bigger than just what the large size shows. I worked very hard, pixel by pixel, when I was first learning how to work with photo progams (and not expensive programs either). For example I built the little crab pixel by pixel, and too late realized that in different sizes, he isn't clear. I saw fish in the sky on the real sunset picture. I visualized the large tree as an undersea coral or plant thing. I put the little crab in it to give it some fun and relativity. I didn't care if my prints were very big at the time, as I was posting on a photo site that only allowed a mximum of 500 pixels on any meausrement of the rectangle. So if they weren't already small, I made them small. I only was thinking about them maybe being on a notecard some day; not someone's wall.
A note about SIC and SNIC. That is what I call Solarized in Camera (a thing Sony Mavica's can do) and Solarized Not in Camera, a choice on a photo program I have. SIC and SNIC results are not the same at all.
Anyway, please don't distort my little crab guy. Delina
(052202frmcd2-273fsicmaden2oceanfloor4abundancecrab)(Sony Mavica pic on top either CD6 or CD8)
Above stuff is what I wrote years ago. Tonight, August 15, 2011, I'll try to be more clear. Basically I chose an artistic version I call SIC on my Sony Mavica Camera. The shot was a big tree with a sunset but solarized. I saw possibilities in it to make an ocean floor, and that is what the bottom picture is all about. Same sunset, two versions. Bottom version has a little crab I drew on my computer as a beginner.

Riddle: Why do oceans roar?
Answer: You would roar too if you had crabs on your bottom.

A juvenile Western Gull flying in front of the Bay Bridge and helping me put a D800E I rented from Borrowlenses through its paces with my 300mm f/4 AF-S lens mounted. I deliberately aimed for doing a fairly tough full-frame shot, with the gull was flying quickly toward me and turning constantly as it flew into the wind, but the AF system still nailed focus on 3 out of 4 shots. This one is cropped moderately and adjusted to straighten the horizon, but even the crop is still a 21-megapixel image. The D800E is quite impressive camera, even if I don't have a kidney to spare in order to buy one!

80 Megapixel 100 image HDR Panorama. Originally 13983 x 5778 Pixels - Reduced to 2000 x 800 odd for flickr
To get this shot, I had to wade through the Farmers Friends (Sticky little seed things that get into your clothes and hang on for grim death), Jump a Barbed wire fence, and dodge through the cow pats, I've never seen so many cow pats in a field before, and I grew up on a farm!!!
This Consists of 2 rows of 5 shot HDRS - 10 shots per row. Stiched using Autopano Giga
I wanted to keep the colours fairly natural so i've done very little with it in the grand schemes of HDR.

Nikon D800E Dr. Elliot McGucken Fine Art Photography for Los Angeles Gallery Show!
Yet more photos and more final edits! I was up at 4:30 AM the past four days shooting sunrises! Awesome sunrises over Point Dume thie time of year in Malibu.
Then I spent all day today moving over 75 large photos into the gallery! Most of these are framed and matted with 13"x19" metallic prints and an 18"x24" mat and a 3" wood-grain black frame! They look awesome! Stop on by Bel Air Camera's Gallery downstairs if you are close to UCLA or in Westwood. Give me a head's up, and I will meet you there if I'm free.

And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!

taken using the same 100w lamp but using a light tent. the color difference between my halogen lamp and fluorescent ceiling lamp is significant. the other walls of the light tent aren't reflecting much light and so the lighting is still harsh despite the scrim effect of the light tent wall i shine the halogen through. i estimate the effective size of the light source to be around the same as the model.
bottom pic is after some photoshopping. photoshop was pretty successful in brightening the image and correcting the color but was unable to rectify the blurryness.
overall conclusions :
- sufficiently bright light very important for good color
- if using more than 1 light source, they should be of the same type to get consistent color
- light source must be very big relative to model for really nice even lighting
- sharp focus is an absolute must
the main killers are probably insufficient light and the inability to focus well on near objects.
the k610i is pretty decent when taking pics of scenery in bright sunlight.
