At a height of 159 m (184.9 m above sea level), the Haniel heap in Bottrop is one of the highest heaps in the Ruhr area. It was piled up in the form of two spirals from overburden from the Prosper-Haniel coal mine.
In 2002, the Basque artist Augustin Ibarrola installed 100 painted railway sleepers, the "totems", on the heap in order to bring together the "apparent contrasts of industrial space and nature".

Blast furnace #6 at Carrie Furnace, a iron manufacturing plant. The size of this room is hard to explain as the widest part of the furnace over over 1 story in height.

The colours of this total lunar eclipse seemed a little subdued compared to a few other lunar eclipses I have seen in recent years. Did not seem at all ominous or portending doom to a simple, optimistic guy like me.
A few days ago I illustrated the offside of VDL Pulsar 2651 - CX07 CUA with its new branding applied. Here we see the nearside with the route branding this time in English for MAX route 51. The bus hurries through Bodelwyddan bound for Denbigh, Lenten Pool. Above the doorway it says 'fast frequent connections from ARRIVA'.
Went to the Galisteo Rodeo yesterday, and managed to duck out just before a massive thunderstorm turned the arena and parking lot into a muddy bog. But as I was heading back to Albuquerque, I spotted this old Truckstop Diner along South Hwy41, and stopped to shoot it with that incredible storm behind it. This shot to me felt like a scene out of maybe a Stephen King movie.
Paradise Falls Truck Stop somewhere between Galisteo and Stanley, New Mexico.
The Moon slightly entered the umbra and a slight ruddy rust color is visible surrounding the dark core of umbra cast on the Moon's surface. The penumbra gives the remaining Moon's disk a flatness from the shadow not normally observed at full Moon. Captured with a Takahashi 120 mm Televue 2X Powermate and a Nikon Z8 camera.
Day 11
My son starting taking electric guitar lessons last week. Hearing "Smoke on the water" blasting out of his amp is now becoming a regular part of our daily routine.

Luckily since being on this new keto diet, I am just under the limit!
A few details from a recent visit to the Slate Museum in Llanberis.
A very interesting and emotive place to visit. Plus it's free and a great wet weather venue.
Maximum effort was needed to try to find a mate in a crowded field of Red-winged Blackbirds. Nisqually NWR near Olympia WA.
So I was walking along and saw the sun bitch-slapping that yellow bollard, I crossed the street and was surprised to see the red on the crosswalk. I've walked by the entrance to that parking garage many many times without noticing the crosswalk was red. I guess the sun was never in the right spot.

Each of the flakes of fire can pass through your bone.
A single unaware step can make you loose your foot forever.
...And even that's an understatement.
Sometimes, to experience hell a physical death is not necessary.
37 years ago today on May 28th 1984 Maude made her only solo appearance beyond Glenfinnan.
Here she struggles away from Glenfinnan suggesting further adventures lie ahead on Beasdale bank. Indeed she set off several lineside fires and her journey was terminated a Arisaig before returning having to take water out of Lock Dubh and taking a couple of breathers on the climb above Loch Eilt.
It seems the lineside has again been on fire this week in the Glenfinnan area..
