In 2001 the Senate of the Jagiellonian University decided to build a lecture theatre complex, Auditorium Maximum, located on Krupnicza Street.
The Auditorium Maximum facility was officially opened on 9 September, 2005.

With the queue out the door at 10.20 and a booked coach party returning from Aber with us, we added two opens to make it up to maximum load and made for a fun trip. Thankfully, the weather had eased before their seats were needed for the down journey.

In 2008, Hard Rock Park opened in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as the world's first rock n' roll theme park. Inside guests could explore the six different music themed areas. Highlights included Led Zeppelin - The Ride, a giant multi-inversion coaster, Eagles: Life in the Fast Lane, a mine train themed to the popular country group, Maximum RPM, a one of a kind coaster with a ferris wheel lift, and much more. Unfortunately, due to low attendance numbers and even lower profit, the park was forced into bankruptcy at the end of the 2008 season. In 2009, the park reopened as Freestyle Music Park until it once again closed later that year. As of February 2011, the park remains abandoned with the park's fate lying in court.
Maximum RPM was a first of it's kind coaster. Each of Mini Cooper shaped car would slowly load into place on a piece of track attached to a ferris wheel. The entire 'ferris wheel' mechanism would then rotate bringing the cars to the top of the coaster. While the ride did initially did have some trouble with a delayed opening, the coaster was a fantastic family addition to the park.

The flood waters at Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve have reached the maximum height. This is normal winter flooding at the Preserve.
The water level of the Tualatin River has risen about 20 feet over the past few days. Other locations in Oregon have experienced flood that is not normal. But these lowlands, the Preserve, are Nature's way of holding water and slowly releasing it as the river level lowers.

The Atlantic 85 is part of the B-class of lifeboats that serve the shores of the United Kingdom and Ireland as a part of the RNLI inshore fleet.
The Atlantic 85 is the third generation B-class Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) developed from the Atlantic 21 and the later Atlantic 75. The Atlantic design of the B-class of lifeboats is named after Atlantic College, where the design was originally developed.
Design
The hull is constructed in a fibre reinforced composite, consisting of a carbon fibre and foam core laminate with an epoxy glass and foam sandwich layup. The tubes are Hypalon.
The boat is powered by twin 115 hp (86 kW) Yamaha 4-stroke outboard engines that have been inversion-proofed to ensure the engines are still operational after a capsize.
Like previous RIBs, it has a manually operated self-righting mechanism that deploys an airbag mounted atop the A-frame. It is capable of being beached in an emergency without sustaining damage to engines or steering gear. The Atlantic 85 is fitted with radar and VHF direction finding equipment and can be operated safely in daylight in a force 6/7 and at night in a force 5/6.
The Atlantic 85 also has intercom communications between the crew and VHF radio via their helmets, DGPS & Chartplotter. It also carries a searchlight, night-vision equipment and illuminating paraflares for night-time operations.
To ensure equipment is kept to a high standard of repair, boats go through annual or bi-annual overhauls, and 4-year refits.

Aller à : Navigation, rechercher Le Temple du Ciel (chinois traditionnel : 天壇; chinois simplifié : 天坛; pinyin : Tiān Tán) est situé dans la ville chinoise, un quartier historique du sud de Pékin, dans le district de Xuanwu.
Dans l'ancienne Chine, l'empereur était considéré comme le « fils du Ciel », qui préservait le bon ordre sur terre en faisant le lien avec l'autorité céleste. Afin de montrer son respect au Ciel, les cérémonies de sacrifice étaient très importantes.
Le Temple du Ciel a été inscrit par l'UNESCO à la liste du patrimoine mondial en 1998.
Il s'agit en réalité d'un important complexe au cœur de la ville, de 1,5 km du nord au sud et de 1 (minimum) à 1,7 km (maximum) d'est en ouest. Il est délimité par deux murs au nord et un seul au sud. Il contient de nombreux temples dont :
La Salle des prières pour la récolte (Qi Nian Dian 祈年殿), pavillon en forme de rotonde dans le nord du complexe
La Demeure du seigneur du Ciel (Huang Qiong Yu 皇穹宇), pavillon en forme de rotonde construit sur un tertre de marbre ; on y remisait les autels lorsqu'ils n'étaient pas utilisés.
La Salle de l'abstinence (Zhai Gong 齋宮), palais situé dans la partie ouest du complexe
L'Autel du Ciel (Yuan Qiu Tan 圜丘壇), espace ressemblant à la terrasse de la Salle des prières pour la récolte, mais sans bâtiment en rotonde. Il est situé sur le même axe que la salle mais au sud du complexe.
L'architecture des différents bâtiments orientés nord/sud reprend la thématique du ciel et de la terre :
enceintes carrées avec des tuiles de couleur verte qui symbolisent la terre
bâtiments ronds avec des tuiles de couleur bleue qui symbolisent le ciel.
Initialement appelé Monument du Ciel et de la Terre, il a été construit de 1406 à 1420 pendant le règne de l'Empereur Yongle, qui était aussi responsable de le construction de la Cité Interdite. Le temple fut agrandi et renommé Temple du Ciel pendant le règne de l'Empereur Jiajing au seizième siècle. Le Temple du Ciel a été rénové au dix-huitième siècle sous l'Empereur Qianlong. Début 2005, une rénovation d'un montant de 47 millions de yuan (à peu près 4'318'000 €) du monument est entreprise en vue des Jeux Olympiques de 2008 à Pékin, mais les rénovations ont été terminées le 1er mai 2006.

This is my most complex and largest build to date.
It was designed in parts: Cockpit body, then legs, then arms, then rear guns. Then I had to redesign parts when it came time to assemble it together because of incorrect bonding assumptions and misalignment of magnet fields.
Experimented with x-beam coupled bonds to get the maximum lateral strength with reinforcements on the sides. This proved to be very string. Created a X-Beam using similar methods producing a very strong leg structure. It was capable of support the entire weight of the cockpit body w/o a problem. Had to redesign the leg to cockpit body mount point from the earlier concept because the bond was not completely coupled.
Next up were the arm/guns ... the weight was too much for the cockpit body to support so I fashioned a pair of lego-platforms for them to rest on and take the weight off of the central body.
Finally ... the rear guns ... these were a challenge in that their original mount point design had to be reworked also to make them fit correctly into the rear of the cockpit body. I changed the mount points on the guns to fit the space on both sides and added a few support balls to improve the mount point bonds. I was very surprised how they were balanced and supported only by two point sections to the body. The guns stayed in place for a small series of photos.
The design flaw was in the side bonds of the beam to the legs. The coupled field held nicely for a short amount of time and would have held if it didn't have the weight of the rear guns to support. When they were standing upright and straight, all was good. As soon as I attempted to move the platform forward (to take a video), the rear guns tilted slightly backwards and and that was the end of the leg to body support bonds ... and created the dreaded implosion.
The rear gun weight caused the entire central body section to rotate backwards and fall back on the rear guns ... taking the arms in the process. Perhaps I should have created a Lego-support structure for the rear guns to remove the pendulum force backwards ... but that would have created another view blocker like the side Lego-platforms obstructed the view of the legs and feet. Not sure if I can recreate it for a rotational video ... this took over a week (on/off to design and assemble).
Overall ... I was very happy with the result ... hope I captured enough detail to warrant some visual recognition as a Starcraft II Thor reproduction/interpretation.
