found in the wadden sea......

Those who have seen my last couple of postings (Red-bellied Woodpeckers) may recognize the stump this Starling is sitting on. Having finally retired, I now have the time to concentrate on taking pictures.

I have now visited this spot in the woods for the last week, spent 4-6 hours sitting in the Ram (yes, I'm inherently lazy) and have taken about 12,000 images. Truth be told, I'm starting to see this stump in my dreams arrggghhh!

However, the action has been unreal. I will share a number of "stump" images in the next few days. To me its a lesson in patience - pick a spot and the birds will come.

We are lucky in Florida to have the second largest nesting population of Bald Eagles in the United States behind Alaska. They are such a beautiful and amazing bird to watch, hear calling or simply watch them raise their young!! This one is making nest repairs and is on final approach!

We went back last Sunday to see if the Ravens were still building their nest. It seems they have almost finished. After the bulk of construction is complete, they'll line the cup of the nest with soft materials like grass, tree bark, moss, flowers, paper or fur. It looks like they have almost finished so she will soon be laying her eggs.

In my Flickr there is already an old version of this photo but now I reincorporate it with a new development and choosing the last photo of a burst of four shots. Taking advantage of a copious snowfall, that day we approached Gujuli to photograph the three day trains that were then leaving Bilbao in the early hours of the morning. The Galician Day train was the least interesting of all because of its very poor composition. But that day it appeared with a gift in the form of a 269 towed and headed by the ineffable 269.908, a locomotive that was distinguished from its "sisters" by carrying the frontal numbering in an atypical place and by the savory sanding of the body at the height of the side ventilation grilles. It was also one of the Mitsubishi 269 that had more breakdowns but, despite everything, you can not imagine the affection that I professed to this locomotive in those times ....

25 on Explore! Thanks everyone!

As a full-time father and husband I hardly make pictures of regular trains. Almost only when the SSN or VSM has one of their rare main line trips, I am able to catch some regular trains too. So what I catch with my camera of the NS (or other companies) trains is often a side catch of steam or museum material passing by. Fortunately I do find occasionally some time to make pictures. This time we were in the vicinity of Moordrecht for the SSN Steam Train Days. This day the weather was not that great. Cloudy, but at the end of the day luckily the sun appeared. The DMU of Crew 2454 also passed by and I was able to make some pictures of this set also.

At first when I looked at this I thought this Yellow Warbler was gathering spider webs but this tree is covered in Tent Caterpillars. It was gathering beak loads of tent silk to line it's own nest.

One of my favourite ever Big Carp covers, a young Terry Hearn with what was then the biggest carp in the UK at the time Mary. From Wraysbury1 120 acre lake. In the days when there was only an handful of carp in there. Though the lake now as huge amounts of carp in, and the lake is much more smaller, and more than ten times easier to catch from now.

For those who have asked, have I ever had anything published before.

I had the old Loaded magazine years ago ask me about the days of the 'Casuals', and how we brought in clothing from countries like Italy. Maybe I will write about that another time.

Maxim magazine wrote a small piece about me once catching big catfish.

Though my own personal hand written stuff, started with some short comedy pieces in local rags, and then onto mainstream newspapers like the Daily Mirror. It was only letter page stuff though, but they printed it. I can write about most subjects.

Though it's fishing magazines I have had most of my articles printed in.

I used to have my own underground OTT fishing newsletter get passed around lakes all over the UK, and some did make it as far as Europe, Canada, America, New Zealand and Australia. Purely from anglers passing them on when going on fishing holidays.

Cos of this (Excuse my bad English). I ended up in fishing magazines. Rob Maylin of Big Carp Magazine is the only one to ever print one of my serious articles in a fishing monthly. Though in them days they were bi-monthly's.

Though Rob was the first one to have the balls to print my real crazy stuff. From Dr Kibble's Approach, Kibble's Column, Bivvy Babe Sideways Sally, Jimmy Old Jokes, Some Carp Casualties, Kibble's Creations, Kibble's Kartoons, to Kibbles Krumpet. The list is endless.

A long time ago now. I wrote a 12 page article in Big Carp magazine, it was more like an hour of stand up than fishing. Many anglers still go on about that to me to this day, when I bump into them on my travels. Some of them are anglers I don't even know.

Kibble's Krumpet come about after a fishing website I had. The website was full of funny anglers, big and small captures. Size of fish didn't really matter. Loads of crazy story's. There was topless and nude models on it as well. At first I used to take the photos myself, but in the end other websites give me free photos of models, in return I had to put them up as a link on my website. I never put up any pornographic stuff though. All nude models had to be over 21. It was popular. I had to close it down in the end. It just got to popular, and the website hosts started to want more money off of me, because they thought I was running it as a business. I just started it as a joke, and that is all it ever was. Nothing was ever sold on it.

There's no point sending my type of material to some editors. If they are boring old farts with no sense of humour. Your just wasting your time. I know Rob Maylin gets me, he has a good sense of humour, and he is a bit of a geezer.
