I shot this as practice for my upcoming wildlife photography trip. It's amazing how unsharp my pictures of Cormorants appear to me even when they're in focus.

I riti della Settimana Santa si fanno risalire all’epoca della dominazione spagnola nell’Italia meridionale.
Le manifestazioni per ricordare la Passione e la morte di Cristo hanno ancora molte affinità con quelle di alcune città della Spagna.
A Grottaglie, la processione dei Misteri, è curata fin dai primi anni del Settecento dalla Confraternita del Purgatorio.
I riti della Settimana Santa iniziavano il Giovedì di Passione, quando la Confraternita del Purgatorio traslava la Vergine Addolorata dalla Chiesa delle Clarisse alla Chiesa Madre. La statua entrava in Chiesa alla fine della predica quaresimale, dopo che il Priore bussava per tre volte al portone interno della stessa. Il Venerdì di Passione, i confratelli del Purgatorio, rivestiti con l’abito sacro e incappucciati, portavano in processione la Madonna Addolorata cantando inni sacri intervallati dalle note della banda musicale.
Il pellegrinaggio dei “Bbubbli Bbubbli a lla scazáta” (confratelli della Confraternita del Carmine scalzi) è uno dei pochi riti ancora rimasti intatti, svolto sia di Giovedì che di Venerdì Santo, fino all’inizio della cerimonia della Passione e Morte del Signore.
Il Venerdì Santo, a conclusione del rito della Passio Christi, uscivano le sacre statue dei Misteri con la Vergine Addolorata a cura della Confraternita del Purgatorio; una processione che ancora oggi resiste e che vede tanta religiosità popolare e suggestione per quei volti sofferenti di Cristo e di Sua Madre. Le statue dei "misteri", portate a spalle da confratelli e da uomini vestiti di nero erano accompagnate da donne in abito di lutto, tra le struggenti note di inni religiosi e funerei, che obbligavano a meditare sul mistero della morte e della resurrezione.
Cinque tra le sacre statue sono in cartapesta e si pensa che possano risalire ad un periodo compreso tra la fine del Settecento e gli inizi dell'Ottocento: "Cristo all'orto", "Cristo alla colonna", "Cristo alla canna", "la Cascata" e "Cristo crocifisso". In legno è invece il "Cristo Morto", mentre "l'Addolorata" è rappresentata da un tipico manichino rivestito con abiti in tessuto nero.
Nella processione dei Misteri, i Confratelli della Confraternita del Purgatorio portano a spalla solo il Cristo Morto e la Madonna Addolorata e, durante il suo svolgersi, viene spesso cantato lo struggente "Inno a Cristo Morto", musicato nella prima metà del Novecento dal Maestro Giuseppe Cardone su versi di Maria Ciocia D'Ettole.
Particolare interesse suscitavano gli “squilli di tromba” seguiti dai “lugubri rintocchi del tamburo” e dal “fragoroso crepitare della troccola” agitata nervosamente dalla mano del confratello, che ad intervalli regolari si udivano nel silenzio della notte

This tricycle is fitted with a simple electric engine. However, due to overloading, the two tyres at the back have been squeezed, and it is difficult to get it started with the power of the engine alone. Therefore the driver could only get off the tricycle and push it.

C'est aux côtés nord et sud que l'on trouve les plus anciens couverts. Ils sont à colombage et brique en fougère ou enduits, sur piliers de bois. Le mélange des matériaux utilisés pour la construction des bâtiments : bois, brique et calcaire, donne à cette place une âme bien particulière.

Frente a la ciudad de Alicante, a unas diez o doce millas, y cerca del cabo de Santa Pola o del Aljub, se encuentra la isla de Tabarca, con una longitud aproximada de 1.800 metros y una anchura máxima de unos 400 metros. En realidad mas que de una isla , se trata de un pequeño archipiélago, compuesto, aparte de Tabarca, por los islotes La Cantera, La Galera y la Nao.
La isla está formada por materiales de origen volcánico sobre los que se han sedimentado calizas micénicas y depósitos cuaternarios. Reserva natural, con una variopinta fauna marina (lubinas, meros, congrios, doradas, etc.). Declarada como Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves por la UE.

This female Northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) is perched on a copper sprinkler with a bit of nest making material. It looks like we'll have one more wave of freezing temperatures before the Equinox next week. The avian yard activity has been very strong of late but no migratory song birds as yet.
Moving to the new place soon I must make the most of a miserable situation. We noticed this guy in the tree just near carport 2 weeks back gone last week thought the worst but then saw him again today. So if it is his home he will be getting lots of pictures taken of him. Also I have sorted my sewing room out up there. Nearly 40 years of collecting material hubby’s wanted to get rid of it all and start fresh when we get to final house in 12 months but I stamped my foot NO. Material still all packed in boxes but machines in place and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
