Sydney, AUSTRĂ€LIA 2023

The Sydney Opera House is a masterpiece of 20th-century architecture and one of the most famous buildings in the world. Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, its construction began in 1959 and it was inaugurated in 1973. Its iconic design, with its distinctive white "shells," evokes the sails of a ship in Sydney Harbour. Since its opening, the building has become a major performing arts center, featuring multiple theaters and concert halls. The Sydney Opera House is a symbol of the city and a meeting point for culture.

Pyramidenkogel Tower

Klagenfurt-Land, Carinthia, Austria

Pyramidenkogel is an 851 m high mountain in Carinthia, Austria. It is located to the south of the Wörthersee and near the town of Maria Wörth. The mountain has been a tourist attraction since at least the late 19th century. The first observation platform on top of the mountain had been built in 1950. The new tower is built of wood and steel, and with a height of 100 metres it is the tallest wooden observation tower in the world. The structure features a visitors platform at 83 m, a cafe at 70 m, and a 66-metre long slide, the longest slide in Europe.

The Workers Are Few

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

[Matthew 9:35-38 NIV]

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)

2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)

3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)

4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)

5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

Read the Bible for yourself. Allow the Lord to speak to you through his Word. YOUR ETERNITY IS AT STAKE!

Now I know it's Spring but I'm going to show you lots of photographs I took last Autumn using my Olympus Pen FT half frame single lens reflex that I loaded with Kodak Ektar. These photographs of St Thomas' Churchyard in Brampton, Chesterfield. I took similar photographs that you can see in my folder on my Samsung Galaxy.

The Olympus camera and its system took the 35mm frame and divided it in two making a 24mm X 18mm frame. The system was designed and built in the 1960s. The lenses were small and light and performed beautifully. I have the FT with TTL metering and the FV without metering. I also have two of the more sophisticated viewfinder Pens- a Pen D2 and a D3. The latter was loaded with B&W film and I have yet to process that. The half frame system declined for a variety of reasons. Kodak wouldn't mount slides, processing colour prints was awkward for the labs and full frame gear got smaller (initiated by Olympus!). These are taken on the 60mm. I still love this gear.

This car really is a masterpiece. You can stand in front of it for hours and because of all the mirrors and lights it looks completely different even if you move your head or your camera just for some centimeters.

And also this shot is a little masterpiece of myself, I know there are thousands of shots of this on the internet and many of them are made with proffesional cameras, but I love how this one came out of my little digi-cam.

Here is the original, unedited shot: i.imgur.com/7zYHAon.jpg

I edited to a 1920x1080 / 1600x900 scale so you can use it as wallpaper if you want, here is a link in high resolution: abload.de/img/p1100840y2p2d.jpg

I hope you like my work

Tom :D

An early Christmas present for my doll kids. LOL!

Many moons ago, before the White Man came, (1141 AD to be exact) the Seneca tribe was attacked and all but exterminated. Only a chief, his squaw, a young boy, and five braves survived. They fled the region, looking for another place to grow back into a powerful Indian tribe. After traveling for three months, they finally found a peaceful place to settle (modern day Ithaca, NY). They erected their first longhouse and totem pole, and built other things that are essential to the Indian life. The chief’s wife gave birth to a little papoose, which gave the Indians hope. About six months after settling down, they were visited by an Iroquois Chieftain, who promised them peace and more squaws if they would unite with them. The chief of the Seneca agreed, and the peace pipe was passed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This story is based off of some historical fact, the Seneca tribe did exist and they did live in Ithaca, NY. They also were part of the Iroquois nation. But it is not known where they first came from or how many there were when they arrived.

This is the long awaited 2011 masterpiece created for local competitions. I have a three competition circuit to go on, and have won the first one. I have spent about $130 in parts, and about 20 hours building, rebuilding, and redesigning. Sorry for the bad background, but nothing big enough to fit this. It also had to be on a table, cause it is really fragile if you move it.

Enjoy!

Before anyone goes to Florence, they do some research and see photos of the Statue of David carved by Michelangelo in 1502-1504. The photos are fine and show you what the statue looks like.

Nothing prepares you for seeing it in person. Since the statue is on a pedestal around 10 feet high, there is no human next to it to give you an accurate sense of scale. When you walk up to it and see that David is 16 feet tall and the subtleties of the carving and detail are so perfect, you are completely blown away.

That was me as well. Before going to see it, I was like "ok, we'll go see the Statue of David because it's famous and all that but so what. I was so awestruck that I did what every other tourist does, I take a few photos of the whole thing so I can remember how it looked. I marveled at it for at least 20 minutes and then went on my way throughout the rest of the museum. As we were leaving the museum and passing through the gift shop, I saw that they were selling absolutely gorgeous black & white photos of David that were just parts of the statue. His hand, his face, etc. When I saw those I had to curse at myself for being such a fool and only taking pictures of the statue as a whole, when it is the details of its parts that make the whole such a masterpiece.

At that point, I walked backwards out of the gift shop and right back into the museum and decided to put my focus on angles and details in an attempt to convey the majesty and perfection of every inch of that statue.
