same shot as posted earlier (Ocean Blue) but this is more representive of the actual colours. for the camera nerds, the raw file was imported at kelvin 4600, hardly hot :) that may give you an idea of the actual blazing glory that happened here ...
I created this for a team building event. I think I'll keep my day job. The numbers are meant to open a "safe" which was in reality an envelope with a hole punched in and a suitcase lock through the hole. If you notice, it's actually two puzzles which was meant to increase the difficulty in putting it together.
Jean Antoine Théodore de Gudin (Paris, August 15, 1802 - Boulogne-sur-Seine, April 11, 1880) - Villerive-les-graves, sunbeam (1873) - exhibition "Monet and the Impressionists in Normandy. Masterpieces from the Peindre en Normandie Collection "- Palazzo Mazzetti (Asti)
"Monet and the Impressionists in Normandy" The exhibition traces the most important moments of this artistic movement starting from the first decades of the nineteenth century.
Impressionism is a pictorial movement born in Paris in the second half of the 19th century. It was officially born on April 15, 1874 on the occasion of the exhibition held in the studio of the photographer Nadar by a group of artists rejected by the Paris Salon, the temple of official painting. The exhibition has a disastrous outcome and causes fierce controversy. Inspired by the title of the painting Impression, soleil levant by Claude Monet, the art critic Louis Leroy ironically defines these impressionist painters. The Impressionists leave the ateliers to work outdoors in the countryside, in the suburbs, in the squares. They use portable easels and oil paints in tubes, manufactured for the first time in these years. The aim is to capture the visual impression of reality; hence the need for rapid execution, without preliminary drawing, without retouching and nuances. The foundation of the Impressionist technique is the study of light and color; to give maximum brightness to the paintings, the Impressionists put pure colors directly on the canvas; they abolish the use of black to create shadows, which are made by combining different colors. Often the Impressionists represent the same subject at different times of the day to show how light, in its continuous evolution, transforms things and colors.
Ya gotta zoom in . . . . and read on.
This is a “virtual” Lego mosaic created in “Andrea Mosaic”. Created as a 96” x 76” (300 ppi) mosaic image (more than 2.5x the size of Vincent’s masterpiece) using a library of 16 images of 1x1 Lego bricks in the 16 available colors (black, brick orange, brick yellow, bright blue, bright red violet, bright red, bright yellow, bright yellow-green, dark green, dark steel grey, light purple, medium blue, medium lavender, medium steel grey, red-brown, and white). This image could be used as a "map" to create a full-size mosaic 96”x76”. The full-size mosaic thus created would require about 74,050 1x1 Lego bricks.
I tried unsuccessfully to convince the art teacher at my son's middle school some years ago to undertake the creation of a large-scale Lego mosaic such as this as a school-wide art project, offering my help to fundraise for the bricks and execute the project with kids. Seems to me a school-wide project like this captures student involvement on many fronts: 1) art (of course), 2) history - van gogh or other artist, 3) computers - creating the digital mosaic "map", 4) mathematics - pixels x pixels, lego dimensions translate into full size artwork, 5) shop class - assembly (for the long-term), how to mount the final work and secure it for display (cafeteria?).
I have uploaded this image (the "map") as a public domain image if anyone should wish to chase that idea down.

My craving for vintage street scenes is satisfied when I stumble upon period film sets around New York City. Steven Spielberg, Marty Scorcese and Steven Soderbergh are the very few directors who can trully transform the city block beyond any recognition. This one is a MASTERPIECE by Steven Spielberg -- Brooklyn's Dumbo area transformed into 1950's New York City for "Bridge of Spies." Brooklyn, New York, September 14, 2014. In October 2012, Jack The Flipper traveled to Great Britain. Driving along the south-west coast of this vast island made us get an insight of the british countryside culture, very friendly people, good and fresh dishes in the restaurants and pubs and also nice landscape locations for photographers.
After a short trip to London, the loud and stressful city made us disappear shortly after our arrival. Along the coastal regions we drove without planning the whole trip and this kind of traveling made us feel free.
We knew the place of this stunning old and handcrafted masterpiece of a lighthouse.
