Only a cynic can create horror--for behind every masterpiece of the sort must reside a driving demonic force that despises the human race and its illusions, and longs to pull them to pieces and mock them.”

Happy Caturday 31.8.2019 "The smallest feline is a masterpiece"
It is currently very difficult to take pictures of Timmy: he has been allowed to enjoy his freedom since 3 weeks and is hardly around during the day. Usually he comes around 23:30 o'clock to go to our bed with me :-)
It is a very exciting time, because he has to assert himself against the other tomcats first. He fought this week against a 2 kg heavier male and did well - only two small wounds ;-)
On the same day he came running, followed by another big male. He was very smart and hid behind Benny, the little terrier of my neighbour - and Benny defended his friend Timmy and attacked the tomcat :-)
If Timmy sees a possibility, he just goes to Snoopy's apartment. Snoop then does the most important thing: sits down in front of his food bowl and defends it :-)

Women in the world are often told that they need to look a certain way and smile as much as possible to look pretty but I believe the true masterpiece is the woman within and her depth of emotions and thoughts is worth celebrating.

Hickman Bridge, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah
Hickman Bridge is notoriously hard to photograph, as its relative proximity to the canyon wall behind it masks blue skies. It boasts a 133-foot span and 125-foot height. Natural bridges are carved by free-flowing water in contrast with arches.
You know, except for that tripod leg.... this might have been perfect. And the vignetting. And the fact that right about now the sky is getting dark, and we're both wondering if the dark black clouds floating downwind towards us are going to carry lightning bolts and torrential rain. We got lucky, just a light sprinkle and bolts flashing all around us at comfortable distances with a huge gap to the west. Well, luck might have had less to do with it than a good weather read, but I'll take luck over skill at reading weather any day of the week.
The red sandstone formations, the twisted pine trees, and the desert shrubs all work in concert to form a perfect masterpiece of nature. Even the dead trees find their way onto Ma Nature's canvas--they accent the landscape like costume jewelry on an evening gown.

Opened in February 1888, Hotel del Coronado debuted as an architectural masterpiece, acclaimed for its spectacular seaside setting and world-famous weather. Outfitted with electricity and every modern amenity, The Del was a destination resort before the term existed, attracting a wealthy clientele from the Midwest, East Coast, and Europe. These guests – who arrived with their own servants in tow – generally stayed for months at a time.
Although seaside resorts were fairly commonplace along both American coasts during the late 19th century, few were as large as The Del or as distinctive. With its one-of-a-kind sweeping silhouette – once likened to a cross between an ornate wedding cake and well-trimmed ship – the resort was recognizable throughout the country and around the world.
Coronado’s island-like allure and year-round sunshine further ensured The Del’s reputation as a standout resort, described as the “unrivaled Queen of seaside resorts … this enchanting spot has no equal in America … or the world.”119
The gusts of winter winds
took turns
carving curves
into the sensuous snow mounds.
Each burst and breath
sent shivers
causing ripples in the
whipped white
peaks and pillars.
Icy talons hung in the balance.
Winter was working on a masterpiece of art.

David is a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance sculpture, created from 1501 to 1504 by Michelangelo. With a height of 5.17 m, the David was the first colossal marble statue made in the early modern period following classical antiquity, a precedent for the 16th century and beyond. David was originally commissioned as one of a series of statues of twelve prophets to be positioned along the roofline of the east end of Florence Cathedra, but was instead placed in the public square in front of the Palazzo della Signoria. In 1873, the statue was moved to the Galleria dell'Accademia, and in 1910 replaced at the original location by a replica.
