After watching a young man ask his future bride to marry him, I ran over to catch his inscription in the sand.
Many other messages were written near this one over the course of about .1 miles.
The scene made a beautiful day even more so...
Along this road near an airport, you can see a message written in huge letters: "Thelma Will U Marry Me?". (I traced the letters in red on the rightside version of the image to make it easier to see the writing.) Click on the "All Sizes" icon above the picture to see a larger version.
I also mentioned this in my blog article about some of my comments on rooftop ads, and the recent interview with me in a USAToday article.

Matt asked me to shoot him and his girlfriend for a Christmas card pic. As I was shooting during the sunset, he proposed.

"Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose,
And nothin’ ain’t worth nothin’ but it’s free..." *
I broke his heart....
Bobby and I were childhood friends. There were four of us girls plus Bobby who played together as babies and toddlers. We hung out together well-into elementary school. Our mothers were all friends, and we lived within a couple of blocks of each other in Manhattan.
My three girlfriends and I all vied for Bobby's attention, since he was the only boy in our "gang". We all played together in Central Park, climbing trees and digging in the playground sandbox, while our moms took turns watching.
One day during nap time when I was about 4 years old (right around the time this shot was taken of us), Bobby pulled his blanket next to mine and whispered in my ear that he wanted to marry me.
What can I say, folks? I was young and I was not ready to settle down.
I turned him down and left him with a broken heart.
Now, 20 years after I divorced the second guy who ever proposed to me, I can honestly say that his was the best proposal of marriage I ever got.

The Villa Sophia filming and photography location in Los Angeles is especially popular for exterior filming in the many garden areas. This terrace courtyard area has a decomposed granite yard with many Italian cypress and Queen Palm trees surrounding. There is also huge antique renaissance bronze sconces mounted upon the 15' tall castle walls that lends a grand, historical air to the location. The views are of the downtown Los Angeles skyline to the south or rolling hills and countryside facing east or north towards Griffith Park.
The Villa Sophia filming and photography location in Los Angele has all the elements of a southern European, mediterranean villa. You don't need to travel to Europe to get that Old Country flavor for your film or photography project. A large country house of Roman architectural style, it has extensive Italian gardens with lavender, rosemary, geraniums, lemon, olive and Italian cypress trees, flower beds of tropical flowers all arranged around several courtyards. Urns of flowers and seven water fountains draw birds and butterflies.

This t-shirt was a clever way to pop the proposal. Fortunately, the softball star fiance hit a home run, and she said "yes"
