Mark and I talk on and off about getting a kitty. I hold out saying not until we're living together all the time (in case I freak out around a cat). So Mark came up with an alternative in the meantime.

My favorite Porsche from the 997 generation, and wow this one is truly amazing! By far the coolest GT3RS I've seen....I surprisingly saw a yellow Porsche (991) 911 on the 10 Hwy a few weeks ago but no shots....what do you think of this one?

At first it was jarring to see Susan's picture on the backs of relatives (I wore one too.) But after a while, I really felt her presence in a positive way. She was a wife, mother, elementary school librarian and friend to many.
I think it was last week that I saw this photo on eBay and I just HAD to have it because this is St Michaels during a brief period of disuse and, by the way, I didn't take this. Opened in 1864, this later formed part of, not just the CLC's main line to Manchester but also their North Liverpool Extension, running all the way initially to Aintree and, from 1884, to Southport. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Liverpool_Extension_Line
CLC stood for the Cheshire Lines Committee and was the second largest joint railway in Britain en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheshire_Lines_Committee. Formed by the Great Northern Railway, Midland Railway and the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway (later to become the Great Central Railway), this was intended to break the near monopoly held by the London & North Western Railway.
The route was closed in stages from 1952 and, eight years later, the line between Aintree and Gateacre was closed to passengers. British Rail wanted to close the line but such a big fucking stink was created that it remained open until Saturday 15 April 1972 when the last train rumbled out of a disused Central Station.
However, the line didn't remain closed for long, being re-opened in 1978 as part of the Merseyrail network. I think it was around this time when the original plaform steps were replaced by a stepped ramp, although the awnings have long fucking gone.
The reason for the title of this photo is that, for a long time 'St Michael' was the brand used by Marks & Spencer, paying homage to Michael Marks, a Russian Jew who, together with a Tom Spencer, founded the company in 1884 and I think that's why Marksies funded the re-opening...because it made use of a brand they stupidly scrapped 21 years ago.

Yup...its here..today i got my new toy ..its a Canon 1Ds Mark III 21.1 megapixels. full frame sensor..5 frames per second. Even at ISO 3200 i tested and there was no noise..impressive...
I also got 3new lenses to feed this hungry monster..

The question of the day is how long will it take me to learn this camera considering the fact the i hardly read manuals..i guess i am just gonna play with my new toy...sounds like fun so far. I might have to order a cart to lug my new camera and lens. boy everything weighs a ton.
My story of digital photography is not that old. Got my first digital camera, a Sony DSC F 828 three years ago and things went crazy. Every day i got sucked into digital photography more and more. Got my first DSLR camera 4 months ago. A Sony alpha A350 . it’s a great camera but it took me 3 days to realize its good for what I have paid but it’s not a pro and yes it will take miss Sony some time to come up with a real pro system. Sorry Sony guys.
Sony went back to Best buy after one week. Now questions was Canon or Nikon. And answer was not that simple since both are excellent but my research made me realize that no doubt canon is the leader. Sorry Nikon guys.
I got my first canon DSLR 40D four months ago. it’s an amazing camera , no question about that. But i guess its time for an upgrade....lol

Dr. Hans Mark served as NASA Deputy Administrator from July 10, 1981, to September 1, 1984. Prior to becoming Deputy Administrator Dr. Mark served as Secretary of the Air Force from July 1979 until February 1981, and as Under Secretary of the Air Force from 1977. In 1969 Dr. Mark assumed the position of Director of NASA's Ames Research Center. After leaving NASA in 1984 he became Chancellor of the University of Texas system, a post he held until 1992. In July 1998, Dr. Mark became the Director of Defense Research and Engineering at the Pentagon. In January 2001 Dr. Mark returned to the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics University of Texas-Austin.

The Golden Pavilion (金閣 kinkaku) is a three-story building on the grounds of the Rokuon-ji temple complex. The top two stories of the pavilion are covered with pure gold leaf. The pavilion functions as a shariden, housing relics of the Buddha (Buddha's Ashes). The building was an important model for Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion Temple), and Shōkoku-ji, which are also located in Kyoto.When these buildings were constructed, Ashikaga Yoshimasa employed the styles used at Kinkaku-ji and even borrowed the names of its second and third floors.
The pavilion successfully incorporates three distinct styles of architecture which are shinden, samurai, and zen, specifically on each floor. Each floor of the Kinkaku uses a different architectural style.The first floor, called The Chamber of Dharma Waters, is rendered in shinden-zukuri style, reminiscent of the residential style of the 11th century Heian imperial aristocracy.It is evocative of the Shinden palace style. It is designed as an open space with adjacent verandas and uses natural, unpainted wood and white plaster.This helps to bring more emphasis on the surrounding landscape. What also can impact the what types of views can be seen from within the pavilion are the walls and fenestration. Most of the walls are made of shutters that can be manipulated by a person to allow a certain amount of light and air into the pavilion. As well as creating a new view by controlling the distance the shutter is raised to. The second floor, called The Tower of Sound Waves,is built in the style of warrior aristocrats, or buke-zukuri. There is a feeling of impermanence that is given off by the second floor suggested by the sliding wood doors and latticed windows. The second floor also consists of a Buddha Hall and a shrine dedicated to the goddess of mercy, Kannon. The third floor is built in traditional Chinese chán (Jap. zen) style, also known as zenshū-butsuden-zukuri. The building is topped with a bronze phoenix ornament.The zen typology depicts a more religious stand point for the pavilion, that was popular during the Muromachi period.The roof is in the shape of a pyramid and is thatched and has shingles.The building is topped with a bronze phoenix ornament.Noticeable from the outside is the amount of gold plated added to the upper stories of the pavilion. There is the implication of the upper stories being covered in gold leaf is because of what is housed on the inside, being the shrines.The outside is a reflection of the inside. The elements of nature, death, religion, are formed together to create this connection between the pavilion and outside forces
