Found this little guy on my new maple tree leaves. I thik he is a weevil. He was so good and sat completely still on my fingers for 30 seconds or so while i took loads of pics of him.
Then i had to push him off as he didn't want to move!!!! So cute.

I've got to love the first buds on my Norway Maple. Hard to believe that in just 7 months I will be scrapping their dead litle carcasses off of my lawn. Spofford, New Hampshire.

Unfortunately we lost the maple tree in our garden this Monday - Some kind of disease called Maple Wilt - the disease starts in the root system and spreads up through the sapwood into the upper branches of the tree, causing big limbs to start dying back.
I love to watch the White-breasted Nuthatches walk face first down our maple tree. It amazes me how easy it looks and is for them to maneuver with ease in any direction.
Upon arrival, they walk face down the thick trunk until they level with one of the two feeders containing black sunflower seed. Then they fly across, grab a seed and fly back to the tree. They walk back up to this branch and use it to pound the seed open to eat the contents. Then they start the whole process over again.
