In the early and mid-1980s, these were the two main contenders for 35mm professional photographers. They each have their merits.

in the oven...
Recipe....
Prep Time15 minutes mins
Cook Time10 minutes mins
Total Time25 minutes mins
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Keyword: snickerdoodle cookies
Servings: 24
Equipment
kitchenaid mixer
baking sheet
parchment paper baking sheets
measuring cups and spoons
spatula set
turner
cookie scoop
Ingredients
1 cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 large Eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla
2 3/4 cup Flour
1 1/2 teaspoon Cream of Tartar (for less tang, use 1 teaspoon)
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
3/4 teaspoon Salt
Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:
1/4 cup Sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons Cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar for 4-5 minutes until light and fluffy. Scrape the sides of the bowl and add the eggs and vanilla. Cream for 1-2 minutes longer.
Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt, just until combined.
In a small bowl, stir together sugar and cinnamon.
If time allows, wrap the dough and let refrigerate for 20-30 minutes. Roll into small balls until round and smooth. Drop into the cinnamon-sugar mixture and coat well. Using a spoon, coat for a second time, ensuring the cookie balls are completely covered. *To make flatter snickerdoodles, press down in the center of the ball before placing in the oven. This helps to keep them from puffing up in the middle. *
Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Let cool for several minutes on baking sheet before removing from the pan.
Enforced manual focus is tricky...

Well, this is straight out of my virtual machine, where I now moved on to trying new things, finally! 😊
It's all very experimental still; please feel free to let me know what you think, like, dislike, suggestions etc., even though, down the road, what matters is if I enjoy or feel expressed by my creations.
Interestingly, what I felt compelled to do first (before trying out new thingx) was to take care of my 'digital Aerochrome' workflow, which I developed resp. discovered just earlier this year. I quickly got to like it and the thought that it is dependent on my 'old system' (as not-old as it may be) and that it could have an expiration date was not nice at all.
So I took some time and tried to recreate it. Not without trouble as it turned out. What 'solved' it was the fact that the Adobe DNG Profile Editor is the same since 2012 I believe, so I could shove my old profile into the new LrC and then recreate the rest around it. So, I'm happy about that. (And in theory, that means I can recreate my legacy 720nm ways from the weird fullspec D90 also, ..cause I have still tons of that stuff, undeveloped.)

Yep a fairly detailed selfie using the bathroom mirror, taken with a newly acquired, but used Sony A6300 and a new Chinese made manual focus 23mm f1.4 lens. It took a few shots to get focus that shows wrinkles and all.
So now my choice of gear to use includes Canon with AF lenses, an ancient FF Nikon with a couple of AF lenses and my old MF lenses and a tiny compact Aps-c sensor Sony camera. Yep, talk about not being able to make up my mind. I wanted something small and light and Canon really had nothing this small, and with a cheap lens adaptor that I purchased I can mount my old MF Nikkors. I also bought a 23mm prime used here, a dirt cheap fixed aperture 18mm MF lens (pretty much a toy) and a used Sony PZ16-50mm kit lens so I would at least have something in AF for the camera.
I have been shooting a bunch with the new to me compact Sony camera, getting to know it. Mostly around home and also at Hillside Park. I will be posting pictures using this camera over the next while, and many will be in B&W.
The post from yesterday was taken with the same lens as this shot, a Chinese made TTArtisan 23mm f1.4 prime. Completely manual. By no means are earth shattering quality of images produced, but the lens itself is mostly metal including the lens cap and focuses very smoothly. Great build quality in my opinion. Pretty sharp in the center at all apertures, but terribly soft not far out from center, and edges are down right blurry. This shot was cropped quite a bit. That said, it, or most any lens for that matter can still create useable images. One just has to work with its limitations.
Future posts will have limited descriptions. This long winded description was just to let you know if my recent purchases.

Keeping this bird in focus by manually focusing the scope, keeping him in the frame, and getting the exposure right can be quite a challenge, but occasionally it all works out! I was testing a new camera today that made it a lot harder to keep the correct exposure when the bird would spread his wings, suddenly throwing the histogram even farther right than I'm used to..
