Street photography with a manual focus rangefinder camera isn't like studio photography with a tripod and perhaps an autofocus camera. I saw this gentlemen on the street in Indianapolis and he had such a 1950's retro cinematic aura that I knew I wanted to make a candid portrait of him. I wanted to use an extremely shallow depth of field to separate him from the distractions in the background. It was clear he didn't want a camera in his face for a series of photographs, and he just could not stand still. He was constantly turning his head, and so I didn't nail sharp focus on his eyes like one would prefer, but I feel like I did capture the aura he exuded. I wasn't going to post this, and then remembered how many street photographs Robert Frank had in his seminal work "The Americans" that lacked tack sharpness but were filled with soul. And soul is certainly something this gentlemen did not lack.

This is a 180 degree panorama shot with a 12mm Rokinon manual focus lens.
I walked across the bridge back in April this year and shot 92 images. Fun memorable morning walk. I remember waiting for the CHP to unlock the pedestrian gate at 5am.
I've been posting some updated edits of a Reddish Egret named "Big Red," and friend asked if I'd ever photographed the white morph at Fort DeSoto. I found this in the archives and gave it an update with modern software. It will soon be on my wall as a 24" x 30" print on metal. Thank you Christine for getting me to go back and find it!

The sun is shining around the edge of the European Central Bank building in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The surfaces of the building resemble two cuboids that are twisted around the long axis, leading to unusual effects in certain lighting.
I was shooting with the Nikon EM in the default AE mode, so this is how it handled the extreme contrasts in the scene.

Unser Efeu in voller Blüte und diesen drei Insekten wird der Nektar gut schmecken. So dicht friedlich beieinander ist es wohl selten zu sehen.

Our ivy in full bloom and the nectar will taste good to these 3 insects. It's rare to see insects so peacefully together.

For the record this was shot handheld, manual focus, on a forearm monopod on the center console of the car, shot past Christine's head and out the opposite side car window. LOL.

I got to hang for an evening with a friend from Peace Corps Vanuatu who lives in New York. We took a few quick portraits before parting ways.

Sorry about all the dandelion shots ... lockdown means still lifes, or garden shots, or ... still lifes in the garden!!! Yesterday, I was experimenting with different manual focus lenses ... hence all the dandelion shots.
