Outside of the tree line there were frost flowers, inside the forest the ground temp still was too warm to make these so later when a harder freeze comes I can shoot some more. New learning using a lens light, hand held, manual focus, f/16, around 7 inch focal length.

I found an old manual focus lens at a thrift shop. It was damaged, but going for only a few dollars, so I bought it. I took it home and down to my basement "hobby room" to see what I could do with it. Unfortunately it was beyond hope. However, it had a nice Hoya UV filter on it that would fit one of my other lenses. I took it off, promptly fumbled it, and dropped it on the cement floor, shattering it. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

On the weekend after I got my Pentacon 50mm f/1.8, I took some pictures of frosted berries on our neighbors hedge. I quite like this shot even though it doesn't have the most beautiful bokeh, but it looks to me like the berries are skewered on a stick and held over a fire :) I hope you like it!

The locomotive was red, though somewhat faded. The purple hue is courtesy of the Lomography film: "...this unique color negative emulsion lends a whiff of retro charm and classical analogue character ... fascinating blue nuances, glowing reds and tender pastel hues ..."

Deutsche Bundesbahn's Class 217 was a derivative of the earlier V 160 mid-size diesel-hydraulic locomotive. V160s were a very common sight, but have now all been phased out.

I don't know much about the steam loco standing next it, except that it was in bad shape and would need a lot of restoration effort.

Strange light. It was bright from the low setting sun to the west. A hazy sea fog/mist was rolling in fron the east along with a fast running tide. Canary Wharf was hardly visible.
