It took me about eight months to decide how to post process this photo. It was truly spectacular scenery in person, at blue hour just when it was about to get very dark. It was also below freezing and super slippery which made the whole experience quite arduous. Yet the RAW long exposure simply did not capture the mood.
I played a lot with different layers and effects in Photoshop and this is the final result. That's how I remember it today.
Interesting note that the image is level. It is most of the trees that are leaning one way as a result of winds over time.
Samyang 12mm manual focus lens.
Thank you very much for all the views, kind comments and faves.
weekly theme of #SmileOnSaturday - June 16th, 2018: #HatsAndCo
seen on Mainau Island, Lake Constance (South Germany):
a display of sun hats with colourful ribbons and bows - but on this day you were in dire need of a rain jacket (or a strong, storm-proof umbrella) rather than a sun hat!
A relaxed day, nonetheless ... bridging the time of rain showers and thunderstorm with lots of coffee and tea : ))
[taken with the manual focus vintage lens SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7 - aperture: 4.5]

Für das Thema "Hüte und Co." der Gruppe "Smile on Saturday"

Happy Smile on Saturday, everybody!!
And a wonderful weekend : ))
Thank you all for taking the time to view, comment or fave.

I finally got a photo of "Bob" that revealed that the cat that I've been thinking was a male is actually a female. Two days ago I saw what I thought was "Bob" in the yard and started shooting photos through the window. As she passed and I was shooting from behind, I realized it was a male -- a SECOND bobcat! This cat's body isn't quite as long, and he's more muscular and not as red as "Bobara."
Taken through the window with 800mm using manual focus at 1/200s.
I won't have my Christmas tree up for another week or two. I was going to drape a string of lights over a chair, but came across a Christmas tree at my church. The clear lights are a bonus for me, as my lights at home are colored.
A new large blue tongue comes exploring and wanders indoors!
See below.. and I panned around to the back gate..

Here is a wonderful quote from the back of David Attenborough's new (2020) book:
"A Life on Our Planet; my witness statement and a vision for the future":
"We share Earth with the living world - the most
remarkable life-support system imaginable,
constructed over billions of years. The planet's
stability has wavered just as its biodiversity has
declined - the two things are bound together.
To restore stability to our planet, therefore, we must restore its biodiversity, the very thing we have removed. It is the only way out of this crisis that we ourselves have created. We must rewild the world."

Lith print (8x12cm) using Moersch Easy Lith 20+20+960 on expired Kodabrome II. Generous overexposure of 3-4 stops at least, followed by relatively short development time (for Lith).
Camera: Nikon F2 (1976), beautifully brassed & beaten, with Nikkor 50mm/f1.8 AI.
Note: my normal reading glasses are +2.00. I found out that I need +1.00 for manual focussing, as apparently the eye thinks it needs to focus at 1 meter with SLR finders.

With the +2 extender on, and hence manual focus, hand held, even with IS on, the vari-focal glasses i wear take a little juggling to get right, i think i am on the edge here, what do you think?
It's not quite sharp.... to my eye.
The viaduct is around 546m long, probably around 600m from where i was stood,to this point.
I have wanted to photograph a Kingfisher for a long time and for whatever reason never visited this nature reserve, well known for its Kingfishers. A forecast for sunshine on the day seemed a good opportunity to finally try my luck and this is one of my first ever shots of these strikingly colourful little birds. Ignore the EXIF lens information, it was taken using a manual focus Nikkor 500mm f/4 ED IF P lens with a TC 14E II teleconverter for an effective focal length of 700mm.

Most of the adult birds of the marsh are in the midst of their molt to winter plumage. While this Great Egret may be missing a feather here and there, their lines are always elegant.
