MANIPULATE
18” Diameter
2008
Cotton jersey, interfacing, organic cotton
batting, embroidery thread, thread &
metal snaps mounted on plexi.
“Manipulate” challenges the various forms
that a quilt block can take. Rather than
repeating a block to create a tiled effect, 16
half moon quilted shapes (in essence the
block) were created with a snap in each
corner. These shapes were then snapped
together and manipulated into an origami
like sculpture.
Best when viewed in higher resolutions. This was like an extreme wide angle, but turned on its edge. It covers about 180 degrees of my view that day.

This manipulated image was done for digital challenge #101 where we were supplied with three images and had to make something interesting from it. There was the scene, the duck and the bear statue which can all be seen at the link above along with the other entries in the weekly contest.
It helps if you can understand Italian (which I can't, but there are good translators on internet).

Entry for the "Leave it to Me" thread #5 in

I took the two older boys to the park, and we made it eventually to the bell tower. All I had with me was my cell phone, so I decided to experiment and see what a stitching effort would look like using only those low-res images as material. Right at the end, Nate decided to relieve himself in the foreground.
Note: Although there are four boys in this picture, they are all either Liam or Nate, due to the nature of stitching together multiple shots taken over a span of time in which little boys tend to orbit the scene.

original from cactusbones :
I manipulated the colour in this one a bit to make it slightly more interesting. The height of this fall is only about 1.5 to 2 metres. Still, I'm glad that I've seen it. Maybe I will come back at a better time of day when it's not cloudy and see if there is a nicer angle somewhere.
Another amazing circle, this time using an old pic I took of a mystery flower at the Olbrich Gardens. Hope you enjoy, and as always, please let me know what you think! :)
Manipulation taken on a Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 Model 2 using a tripod and the cable release on expired (11/07) Time Zero film on 12/29/09. I covered the exposure "eye" with a piece of cardboard...exposure was roughly 12 seconds.
A line of 3 or 4 trees - lining a footpath on which I stand. The path is (I believe) Sparable Lane. On the far side of the field is Primrose Lane Gilstead.
These trees are strangely manipulated into very similar shapes.
The field is where the original Milner Field gardens once stood.
