Rolled up polyester that I boiled to keep the creases

A fellow photo manipulating friend, Ruby Strange (see my tag by that name if you'd like to see works I have done of her), requested mirror photos for her latest series, and being the self portrait junky I am, I was happy to oblige! I found it to be quite a challenge. I sent her 44 photos & made it hard for the poor thing to choose, but when I do a photoshoot, I am a perfectionist & I just can't help myself! Of course I had every intention of having some fun with them myself. I had that pink glass heart box that I believe I got at at dollar store just sitting in my room, & thought I might be able to use it for something, so it gave me this idea that I've had for a while. View On Black

taken on my pocket camera through a shop window in monochrome at night - a pretty poor image so popped it through some downloaded trial software, added a border and bingo – result!

I took these Photos in the late 1990's with my Minolta Maxxim 5000 35mm SLR Film Camera with Color Slide Film, while I was just learning Photography and consequently the resulting Slides turned out horrible.

I Scanned the Slides to create to create Electronic Images and manipulated the results with both Photoshop™ and Photomatix Essentials™ to create artistic results.

This installation consists of a blown up “Wardian Case”, in which orchids are presented. Wardian Cases were small 19th century greenhouses developed by Dr. Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward to protect plants from the polluted London air. Growing ferns and orchids was a hype in Victorian cities. But more importantly, Wardian Cases also prompted the commercialization of imported plants: vulnerable small plants could now survive the boat journey because they were protected by Wardian Cases. As such, they were a means to – literally – displace nature.

Everything except for the math balance is right there! They fit perfectly in the 8.5"x11" Sterlite drawers. The drawing board and ruler slip on top, under the scratch paper.

They were one of the hardest rocking goth-punk bands ever. Slightly Gang of 4-inspired, but, then again, who wasn't? Fat Vigilate is, for me, still one of the best songs from the mid-80s. Later this record was re-issued as a CD with lots of singles A's and B's as well as previously unreleased material. Some of it also good. I heard they are active again. But, then again, who isn't?

Think I've spent more time manipulating this image than it took to manipulate the tree itself into shape!

Stop this train

I wanna get off

And go home again

I can't take the speed it's moving in

I know I can't

But honestly, won't someone stop this train?

a funny story here....

i had scouted out this cool area at DFW airport and was waiting for something interesting to happen. it didn't... so i waited and waited.... and waited... i had a flight to catch.

and then this lady with two kids sat down against the wall where i was hanging out. i noticed she had a camera with her.. it was a 5D... so i said, hey.. make your kids run through this shot and i'll give you some polaroids of them. she instantly knew what i was asking for and directed the kids to run first one at a time and then together.

she and the kids got 4 polaroids out of it. it was fun.

just like HCB used to do (i'm sure). :)
