A poor quality photograph, but the only one I have since my hard disk fried. This is the wonderful Bryndyfi mine, another one of those white elephants which promised much and delivered... nothing. There's a range of buildings, a crusher house, a couple of buddle pits and a lovely tramway, plus this managers house.

67029 leads the 1Z05 Torquay to Ealing Broadway DB Management train passing along the Teignmouth seawall.
I'd guess it would be in the flea weight category, (is there a flea weight category?) His odds don't look good in any case, and his manager doesn't look too optimistic either.
Seen at an antiques/junk store (Bargain Hunters Mall Antiques & Collectibles)... in downtown Clarkston, state of Washington.

Photoshop: (SINGLE EXPOSURE)
- Duplicated the background layer, switched to soft light mode and applied a gradient mask (sky only)
- Switched to LAB mode and applied two curves to improve contrast and tones
- Back to RGB, added a vibrance layer to boost up minor tones
- Used color balance tool to improve colors
- Duplicated the background layer, switched to linear add and applied a gradient mask (foreground only)
- Created an Overlay layer to adjust light
- Resized
- Run Noise Ninja to reduce Noise
- Sharpening (Smart Sharpen + more accurate)
- Framing and signature.

......... the young Pablo was the son of a Sicilian and a Venezuelan mother .... He had already been marked too soon by fate: his father had drowned in the sea of Venezuela ... when he was only eight years ... To live Pablo (Paolo Pino) was a lifeguard (but he also loved to sing in the local folk clubs), and that's why ... that day, February 19, 1972, he goes down to the beach in Letojanni ( ME) to lend a hand to his manager friend who is busy fixing a speedboat. The sea was big ... impetuous (the sirocco sea raises imposing waves at certain times of the year), whoever knows that sea ... knows how dangerous it can be to be too close to it ... But not everyone knows it .. . this is why that day three foreign girls (from the United States), one still a child, eight years old ... they were playing carefree on the edge of that sea: one moment, just one moment ... a wave longer than the others .. ..and here all three find themselves inside that nightmare made of cold, foam, gigantic and invincible strength, roar and fear ... so much fear ...! ... Pablo doesn't think about it only moment, he throws himself in the midst of those waves ... he saves the first ... he saves the second ..... with the third, the youngest of eight years ... he can't, but he remains close to him, if if he left her ... he could perhaps save himself ... in fact with the child to support it has now become impossible to regain the shore ... In fact, the tiredness, the cold ... the violent sea ... perhaps even the current marin a ... make the arms and legs woody ... while ... the breath begins to fail .... but no ...! the little girl does not leave her ...! ... is close to her ...! ... From the beach they try to form a human chain right into the waves ... they try to throw him a rope .... nothing to worry about to do, it's too far now. Il mare era grosso...impetuoso (il mare di scirocco alza onde imponenti in certi periodo dell'anno), chi conosce quel mare....sa quanto possa essere pericoloso starvi troppo vicino...Ma non tutti lo conoscono ... ecco perchè quel giorno tre ragazzine forestiere (Statunitensi), una ancora bambina, di otto anni...giocavano spensierate sul limitare di quel mare: un'attimo, basta un'attimo...un'onda più lunga delle altre....ed ecco che tutt'e tre si ritrovano dentro quell'incubo fatto di freddo, di schiuma, di forza gigantesca ed invincibile, di fragore e di paura...tanta paura...!...Pablo non ci pensa un sol attimo, si getta in mezzo a quelle onde...salva la prima...salva la seconda.....con la terza, la più piccola di otto anni...non ci riesce, gli resta però vicino, se la lasciasse lui...potrebbe forse salvarsi... infatti con la bambina da sostenere è oramai diventato impossibile riguadagnare la riva......Infatti la stanchezza, il freddo...il mare violento...forse anche la corrente marina... rendono le braccia e le gambe legnose...mentre...il fiato incomincia a mancare ....però no...! non la lascia la piccola bimba...!... le sta vicino...!...Dalla spiaggia si tenta di formare una catena umana fin dentro le onde...tentano di lanciargli una cima....niente da fare, è troppo lontano oramai. Si aspetta che arrivi l'elicottero da Catania: certo...con l'elicottero è un'attimo, si cala una imbragatura ed il gioco è fatto...dai...dai...!...che presto l'elicottero li salverà entrambi......No, invece no...!.... quell'elicottero arriverà troppo tardi....Il mare se li porterà con se...per sempre.....

P.S.:...i fatti li ho raccolti da testimonianze scritte, e da persone che si ricordano di quella tragica giornata...

In honour of the International Day of Happiness on 20 March 2017, I asked a selection of people to choose an object that makes them happy. I then photographed and interviewed them about these items.
"One of the things that me and my wife Debbie first bonded over was a shared love of Agatha Christie. We decided to buy them all, and had a list we'd cross off on visits to second hand book shops. The last one, an American edition called 'The Golden Ball and Other Stories', we couldn't find anywhere so resorted to eBay.
We could of course have bought them all on Kindle, but there's nothing like having the objects on a bookshelf. It's also nice that there's a history to second hand books, knowing others have read them. And Penguin covers look lovely.
I'm reading them in chronological order; there are around 90. It's interesting comparing the pre-war stories (people with servants in country houses), to the post-war ones (people can no longer can find the staff as the nouveau rich servants have enough money to buy their own houses).
Since we started buying these, Debbie has had problems with her vision, so she is listening to them as audio books."
