Trip to Dubai. Burj Khalifa. Sep/2015.
Burj Khalifa (Arabic: برج خليفة, "Khalifa Tower", pronounced English /ˈbɜrdʒ kəˈliːfə/), known as Burj Dubai before its inauguration, is a megatall skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the tallest artificial structure in the world, standing 829.8 m
Bringing Burj Khalifa to life required a combination of visionary ideals and solid science. In the process, the project amassed an awe-inspiring number of facts, figures, and statistics.
World Records
At over 828 metres (2,716.5 feet) and more than 160 stories, Burj Khalifa holds the following records:
Tallest building in the world
Tallest free-standing structure in the world
Highest number of stories in the world
Highest occupied floor in the world
Highest outdoor observation deck in the world
Elevator with the longest travel distance in the world
Tallest service elevator in the world
Tallest of the Supertall
Not only is Burj Khalifa the world’s tallest building, it has also broken two other impressive records: tallest structure, previously held by the KVLY-TV mast in Blanchard, North Dakota, and tallest free-standing structure, previously held by Toronto’s CN Tower. The Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has established 3 criteria to determine what makes a tall building tall. Burj Khalifa wins by far in all three categories.
The Churches Conservation Trust is trying out a new concept to bring St Laurence’s church on St Benedict Street, Norwich into re-use. It is a called The Common Room.
Working in collaboration with an an amazing founding group, the Churches Conservation Trust, 00:/ and Social Spaces held the Make Day - designed to continue to co-design the building blocks of the project.
And open invition was again extended to encourage people to be part of taking The Common Room to the next stage.
The Common Room could transform St Laurence's Church into a new type of shared space, made and shaped collectively, and run on the principles of collaboration, connection and resourcefulness.
You could host meet ups, start new projects or develop your business ideas. It could be a workspace, workshop, communal dining room, or growing space.... What happens there can be up to you.
There are lots of exciting ideas, potential opportunities and a high level of interest from many different people....

"The Common Room should encourage activities & projects within the local community, shaped by the local community. I would love to both teach & be taught here."

It’s amazing how such a simple and lowly street food can make a morning good, indeed. Taho, the Philippine delicacy is a reminder of a more innocent time when people can find solace in the warm bean curd, sweet (but not too sweet) arnibal (liquefied raw sugar) and soft sago (tapioca balls) first thing in the morning. Just to hear the vendor shouting “tahooooo!!” makes one’s heart skip a beat and one’s feet race outside the house for a fix. Soya joy, you may call it. Taho is just one of many soya products that have been dubbed as health food. Soya diet foods include silky, soft and hard tofu, beancurd skin, soybean paste, and soy ice cream, to name a few. High in protein, low in fat and absolutely low cost, soya products are staples of the Asian diet for ages. Now, the rest of the world’s catching up on the yummy delights and health benefits of soya.
Soy related foods - it truly seems to be a wonder food. Soy is an excellent source of dietary fiber and protein. It is rich in vitamin B6 - important in building amino acids and in the formation of neurotransmitters. Furthermore, soy is often recommended as an alternative for meat in low-fat diets.

Norpro 6022 Fry Cutter/Wedger 10-in. (See all Mandolines & Slicers) was used to make potatoes into fries which I then fried up in Hamilton Beach 3 Liter Deep Fryer Digital Timer (See all Deep Fryers) till they all floated and looked happy happy. the Ham is placed onto a steak roll and topped with grated pepperjack cheese and placed into a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes.
This isn't an exchange, but more of a "gift it forward" kind of thing. The people you make something for will not be making anything for you unless you happen to get on their list.
The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me - something REAL that you could actually stub your toe on if you left it lying around on the floor.
