Just a bit odd, because here in Brazil, our Valentine's is not on February.

Well. Anyway. xD

Blue is my favorite color. And hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. Blue hydrangeas? Double bonus.

These are the lions from the hit movie "The Ghost and the Darkness." These two make lions terrorized the crews that were building a bridge over the Tasvo River in East Africa. Over a 9 month period, these 2 lions killed and ate about 140 workers. The crews were terrified of returning to work, so the British had to find a way to kill the lions.

Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson made several attempts to kill the lions. Finally, on December 9, 1898, he shot and killed the first one. Then a few weeks later, he shot and killed the other one. The crews eventually returned to work in February, 1899.

There is no certain reason why the lion attacks on humans become such an issue. However, several possibilities may have contributed to it. There was a disease that killed millions of African wildlife, that they normally eat. Plus, there were natural or injury-related deaths during the work on the bridge. The crews did a poor job of burying the dead, thus allowing the lions to discover an easy source of food.

These are the actual skins and skulls from the real lions. Patterson sold them to the Field Museum in 1924. The skins had already been turned into rugs, so it was an extremely delicate process to restore them. The actual live lions were much larger than what is shown here.

I really love the crochet flower pattern in Mollie Makes issue 12, so much so that I even made them up in thread to add to hairslides :-)

Biba and Fanny with their teddy bears: Timmy and Jules. Biba is that black one :)

They are entering my collection of Cuddly Flock at etsy.

They two look well together - like yin and yang.

Sometimes when you post a photo on Flickr, you make a connection.

A couple of weeks after I took this photo I got an email. The writer said that he had also attended the dogsled race and had done a Flickr search for other people's photos. He found this one, and found himself in it. He's the guy with the red parka and the black SLR. He noticed that his camera was pointing exactly toward where my photo must have been taken from. Attached to his email was the photo he had shot at nearly the same moment. And yes, I was in his photo too.

The second in the 'Make Me..' series with a different treatment.

The colors look electric.

i have been wanting to make this sweater ever since the book came out,and finally found a cheap yarn substitute: as soon as i cast on with the grey i couldn’t help but think of that adorable fearsome dictator and prodigious scotch drinker, colonel meow—and so it’s become something of a knitted tribute to how much he’ll be missed by the minion who will eventually wear it, i.e. me.

Come make your own gadget, robot or wearable art at Tam Makers!

On Wednesday evenings, we host ‘You Can Make It’ workshops for adults and teens in our makerspace at Tam High School. During these open sessions, participants build new projects, with guidance from our staff and other community members.

Many of them are experienced makers, who are happy to share what they know. Here are some of the cool maker projects they are working on this month: a graceful robot spider, an eagle god with creepy eyes, an Arduino-powered garage opener, a Wifi server on a chip, and many laser cut picture frames.

If you are interested in creating your own maker project with the help of others, join us this fall, on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9pm in the woodshop at Tam High School in Mill Valley. Learn more about You Can Make It:

www.tammakers.org/you-can-make-it/

One of the great benefits of this open shop program is that you get a lot more than just access to tools: you join a community of makers who like to make things together and help each other.

I finally had enough Baron Karza's to make this set. I made the heads a long time ago so it was nice to finally get this monkey off my back. I really like this color set.

The heads are actually in CLEAR black. But they are so black, you cant tell. Except with the Emperor. If you shine a light behind his head you can see through his helmet extensions.

I have one more set of Magnos yet to make. The Black w/White hilights Magno Set. I have the white cast parts already made from a few years back...just waiting.

I have had some parts for as long as 8 years because that's how long it took me to get to it for various other projects. lol.
