Just across Tokyo Bay in Chiba Prefecture is the Kominato Railway. This private railway serves the suburban and rural communities from Goi to Kazusa-Nakano Station, served by 50-60+ year old JNR era DMU's, still in everyday use. Here, a KiHa 40 Series leads a futsu (local) west towards Goi as it leans into the superelevated curve outside Kazusa-Kawama Station.

At the beginning of the journey, the train crosses the Hackensack River, viewed from a crane on the former Bergen Record Building.
Shockingly the train ran all the way to Sparta in perfect sunlight, making only one short stop at Pompton Junction. A miracle indeed.
