GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN--- Yes, mailboxes. On wheels. In newly-made stainless-steel housing. There are only two...this is kind of like Highlander.
As long as there's an official mailbox, the post office is happy to deliver. UPS, not so much; the driver seems to think no one is living here.
Thats right we built, stuccoed, and painted this mailbox to match the house! How is that for custom! Just a few hundred more since we were there already. You can see for yourself how BIG the upgrade was from their old mailbox. All it needed was the custom numbers the homeowner special ordered. No wonder why everyone sings our praises.

I grabbed a quick shot of this mailbox for my POTD because I haven't seen too many of them around. This is one of the new Canada Post "anti-graffiti" mailboxes which features a multi-coloured vinyl wrap that contains a collage of postal codes, which makes it difficult for any tags or other graffiti to stand out. The wrap also repels spray paint or markers.
I can't say that I prefer them over our cool bright red mailboxes, but since a new mailbox stands zero chance of remaining unvandalized for any period of time, these do represent a significant step towards keeping our neighborhoods prettier.
I have been stalking this mailbox since August. I think it rocks. I was waiting for a moment when 1. I had a camera and 2. I didn't feel ridiculous taking a picture of it on a very, very busy street. (Woo go Huron St.!)
To confirm my fears that I looked like an idiot, a little old lady walked up to me and said "It doesn't seem that interesting to me."
I had no comeback.
*sigh*
Sundborn, a tiny village in the province of Dalarna, Sweden. This is where the Carl Larsson house is (Carl Larsson-gården).
Mailboxes at the main road. for the people living in the village miles away...
(somewhere between Las Vegas and Death Valley)
There are some interesting mailboxes in Maine! This is 1 of 3 new images. Who knew there were mailboxes shaped likie covered wagons? Seen on June 10, 2012 in Brunswick, Maine, USA
This mailbox contains two of my favorite subjects: books and the number 19. Seen in Chatham, Cape Cod.

A mailbox in the form of a bass awaits letters and junk mail in one of the Lake Sherwood homesteads.
Located on 7th Avenue and West 33rd Street....
In 2007, hundreds of official U.S. Postal Service blue collection boxes in highly visible locations across 200 cities were transformed into Star Wars character R2D2 look-alikes. The decal-covered mailboxes were rolled out to promote a joint venture with Lucasfilm Ltd: a commemorative stamp roll celebrating the 30th anniversary of Star Wars' release, that went on sale May 25 of that year.
"R2-D2 is the feisty little droid who embodies the trust and dependability for which the Postal Service is so renowned." (USPS.gov)
We don't have mailbox anymore.... youtu.be/KzqwWwMAer8 Though at least the bush has survived ;) But we have started to think that maybe we need to put the stones into concrete, so that the next Speedy Gonzales couldn't get away so easy (¬ _¬)
