I just joined Postcrossing.com so now I never know what will be in my mailbox.

The four on the left are ones I've received so far.

The chipmunk one will be sent to a 3 year old girl who lives in Germany.

I wanted to find an angle that put the mailbox engine on the real tracks in the background but the angle was wrong and the guard rail got in the way.

Could this have been Abe Lincoln's mailbox? Photographed in Canaan, CT.

When I’m out on a road trip, one of my musts is to send my daughters a postcard as soon as I enter a new state. I found this lovely locked mailbox in rural Phillipsburg, Missouri as I was looking for somewhere to mail postcards to my little girls. The actual lock is quite striking. Not your usual Masters lock.

I grabbed a quick shot of this mailbox for my POTD because I haven't seen too many of them around. This is one of the new Canada Post "anti-graffiti" mailboxes which features a multi-coloured vinyl wrap that contains a collage of postal codes, which makes it difficult for any tags or other graffiti to stand out. The wrap also repels spray paint or markers.

I can't say that I prefer them over our cool bright red mailboxes, but since a new mailbox stands zero chance of remaining unvandalized for any period of time, these do represent a significant step towards keeping our neighborhoods prettier.

I have been stalking this mailbox since August. I think it rocks. I was waiting for a moment when 1. I had a camera and 2. I didn't feel ridiculous taking a picture of it on a very, very busy street. (Woo go Huron St.!)

To confirm my fears that I looked like an idiot, a little old lady walked up to me and said "It doesn't seem that interesting to me."

I had no comeback.

*sigh*

There are some interesting mailboxes in Maine! This is 1 of 3 new images. Who knew there were mailboxes shaped likie covered wagons? Seen on June 10, 2012 in Brunswick, Maine, USA

I took some photography course in my first year of high school and one of the assignments was autumn. I like the colors in that one.
