I hiked up to Mailbox Peak over the weekend. Great hike! A real burn on the legs. The tradition is to exchange some trinket with another in the box. ...I guess some firefighters who used this route for training placed the mailbox up here.

Our original mailbox was on our neighbor's (poorly maintained) property. We installed a new bronze finished post and mailbox on the other side of the street with the gracious blessing of our postmaster.

August 19 232/366- My wife says the mailbox needs replacing, I say it has character! So what if the "9" fell off years ago, it's still sitting on the back of the post waiting for me to nail it back. The big piece that is spintered off came from the power company hitting it with a truck one day, at least I painted over it. The mailbox is a little faded and the vinyl letters are peeling, just needs a little touching up. It's survived hurricanes, a few freezes, teenage drivers, weedeaters & lawnmowers, a lot of mail, etc. It'll last a few more years!
