Middle East - GCC - United Arab Emirates - UAE - Dubai - Dubai Marina - Artificial canal city with sky high modern buildings along the sea shore
Dubai is a city with rather interesting layout. It currently has the highest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa and several high sky buildings around it, then about 25km of "nothing" in form of one or two stories small houses along the coast and then comes this brand new high sky area of marina with mainly residental buildings. It is not the easiest area to photograph as you are always too close to too high buildings, the only time when you can capture this place properly is from the top of one of the highest buildings, which is extremely difficult to get access to, especially now after several serious fires in some buildings, including the famous luxury hotel "The Address" that caught serious fire on the New Year's evening. Luckily no fire went on the day I was up at this amazing view, just lovely last rays of light falling on top of those buildings before sunset.

Europe - Finland - Suomi - North of the Arctic Circle - Finnish Lapland - Lappland - Lapponia under fresh cover of snow during winter time
No single Northern Lights photo does true justice to what is happening on the sky during those unique moments when Northern Lights appear. After incredible experience of capturing my first ever timelapse in Iceland last year, I've headed to Frozen land of Arctic Lapland to capture Northern Lights under snowy landscape, which is often difficult to find along the coast. Average temperatures around - 25C dont make it particularly friendly experience, but the one which will always be treasured.

Middle East - GCC - United Arab Emirates - UAE - Dubai - Jumeirah Mosque - Iconic Landmark Mosque & one of the few mosques in the UAE that is open to non-Muslims together with iconic 7* hotel Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah hotel in shape of a wave at Dusk - Twilight - Blue Hour - Night
I was not planning to post this shot these days, but I re-visited this location yesterday for higher resolution photos with the 5DS, only to find out that those small trees are now rather large, completely blocking the view. Trees dont come easy and cheap in GCC, so I dont think they'll go away anytime soon.
Let this be reminder to all of us, that what we think we can capture anytime, might not be possible be one day, as this shot today.

Europe - UK - United Kingdom - Scotland - St Monans - Village in the East Neuk of Fife named after the legendary Saint Monan - Situated approximately 3 miles west of Anstruther, this small community, whose inhabitants formerly made their living mainly from fishing, is now a tourist destination situated on the Fife Coastal Path - Breakwater can be found at end of the harbour captured at high tide
As is usual in Scotland, we had our share of really bad weather with lots of rain and gale strong wind, however this particular night was the opposite - clear blue sky, and not a single movement on the sea... I would have wished for bit more dramatic conditions here but I guess we cant always have it all ;) At least the tide was at its highest during sunset, which is a must for this shot. Unfortunately it was mid way between the New Moon and Full Moon meaning that high tide is at its lowest. If you wanna shoot at this location, you need high tide at its highest, that would add another 1m of water which would completely hide the concrete at the bottom.

It is being said that a picture is worth a thousand words and it is very true statement, however what if you put thousands of pictures together ? Here are two videos that I put together from several weeks in Iceland, those sleepless nights spent in freezing temperatures in unique Icelandic landscape were surely worth it.

I had the incredible luck to experience once in a life time Northern lights show created by huge Solar storm which brought unseen colors ranging from the usual green, yellow to red, purple or even blue, to the sky all over Nordic countries and even all the way to the south of UK. Add several other lucky nights with smaller or large Aurora Borealis appearance in unique landscape of Iceland and the result is relatively lot of footage for my first ever time-lapse video.

I would like to thank everyone for the support on the stolen picture issue. But not only the person didn't take the picture down, Deviant Art didn't either, even after all the complaints. So I'll have to take action. I sent them both, the thief and deviant art a message demanding they take down my photo, or I'll sue. It's unnaceptable that after all the complaints that little miserable thief still claims the photo to be her own. That little piece of sh*t.
I'm really angry that that person would insist on the lie. Got caught? Take it down, apologize, stop stealing, learn a lesson, move on. I absolutely abhor stpd people.
p.s. It seems my photo isn't showing up on my contact's pages :((

Middle East - GCC - United Arab Emirates - UAE - Abu Dhabi - Brand new modern skyline with sky high skyscrapers along the corniche at Dusk - Twilight - Blue Hour - Night
Abu Dhabi might be less popular brother of its more visited Dubai, however I somehow prefer this city, probably because of kilometers long corniche and the feeling you get being by the sea. Dubai might be very long and and relatively narrow city along the sea as well, but with only few exceptions, you dont have the chance to freely hang out along the shores of the sea as you do in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi might have less sky high buildings that Dubai so popular for these days, but it surely have few of new funky skyscrapers like these as well. Plus it has one the most beautiful mosques I've ever visited (and I have visited a lot of them around the world!) - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Dentelles lumineuses sonores is an installation by the artist "KAMI - Camille von Deschwanden". These are light sculptures, whose shape can change depending of color variation and point of view. Each sculpture has been woven by hand in 900 hours of work. They are stickt together by 90'000 clips.

A small departure from my usual style. Discovering freely wondering flamingos at Ras Al Khaimah bay was a real joy, those are the times, when I'm thankful for always carrying the big and heavy 100-400mm lens, unfortunately even 400mm didnt give me the detail I needed. Thanks to the new 50mgpx sensor of 5DS, I could still easily crop in and get 20mgpx crop with lot of nice detail. That kind of approach gave me probably the biggest sun at any photo I've ever posted (as all my shots are all single exposure only and I dont add fake Sun/Moon/Milky-way to my work). I only wish the flamingo was within the sun itself, but then it would had to be very different circumstances. I have returned to this place multiple times to get various shots, which I might share in due time.

Middle East is not known for its amazing sunsets, but occasionally something spectacular occurs. This cloud with setting sun was perfectly positioned just next to the tallest building in the world - iconic Burj Khalifa.

This spectacular rock formation is built up from a former volcanic chimney and is up to 200 m high. It is located approximately five kilometers south of Pico del Teide right on the Las Cañadas plateau, a crater (spain: Caldera) with a diameter of 17 km. In the background you can see the crater edge with heights of 200 to 600 m. This is of such big scale, that you can hardly see the road which leads right through the crater's bottom.

Fourth picture of this series, some Fridays ago in this location, this time a horizontal view just at golden hour.
First lights of the day, which I already wanted to catch this perspective view caring for the composition, giving a lot of attention at the dynamic waves at the foreground guiding the look towards the walkway and the sunrise at the left of the scene.
On the technical side, say that I used the combination of a ND four steps filter and a soft gradient ND three steps filter.

Living right next to the beach offers the amazing opportunity to see the sun set over the ocean for 28 straight nights.
On the brink of blue hour the GND Filter on my 14mm lens really made sense. So I was walking knee-deep in the water for about an hour with Camera and Tripod on one hand while my baby was enjoying the sound of the waves on my back. Kind of fascinating for both of us :)
This island of La Gomera is hidden behind the smaller rock formation.

Ribeira da Janela a small beautiful village located on the north coast of Madeira with its unique traditional agricultural area mainly producing potatoes, sweet potatoes and grapes from its vineyards. Ribeira da Janela sits in one of the longest valleys in Madeira and was named after a rock with a window that stands at the end of the river Ilheu da Ribeira.
The Ribeira da Janela islets, also known by the "Three Sisters" are the three towering cliffs located opposite the beach of Ribeira da Janela a beautiful town on the north coast of Madeira in the municipality of Porto Moniz.
