Faroe Islands - Tjørnuvík - Tjørnevig - The northernmost village on the Faroese island of Streymoy - Looking out towards Risin og Kellingin sea stacks from the shores of Tjornuvik

The weather in Faroe Islands keeps reminding me one funny T-shirt they sell in Iceland - "If you dont like the weather, wait for 5 mins" It is exactly how our days are like... this was literally 5 mins break before huge rain fell on us. Luckily the car was nearby.

Europe - UK - England - Devon - Hartland Devon Heritage Coast - Hartland Quay - Dramatic rocky coast along Atlantic Ocean with Warren Cliff and large upright chevron folds

This part of Devon was an incredible surprise for me, although its rough dramatic beauty has been known to photographers for some time. Even producers of the great TV show "Night Manager" situated few scenes there, and surely there were not the only ones ! Add wonderful period of end of May or early June with its Sea Pink or Purple Sea Thrift Flower in full bloom and you get the perfect mix !

Middle East - GCC - United Arab Emirates - UAE - Dubai - Ras Al Khor Bridge - Business Bay Crossing over Dubai Creek at Night

Watching the sun rise or set over the sand dunes of Merzouga may be the most spectacular experience you have on your trip to Morocco. The Erg Chebbi, the name of these sand dunes, is said to have some of the highest dunes in Morocco. Indeed, the dunes and the desert wildlife are impressive.

The dunes of Erg Chebbi is a strikingly strange natural formation. On the top of the flattest area you could imagine, suddenly a long mountain of sand rises. This mountain is surrounded by flat and desolate nature on all sides, and you could end up wondering if it really is real. But so it is, even if its existence is so weird that it has given rise to lengeds and myths among the locals. One legend tells us that the dunes of Erg Chebbi were created by God as a punishment to the locals of nearby Merzouga after they refused to give shelter to a woman and her child during a local festival. A sandstorm came, and buried the village of Merzouga is it was then.

Morocco and especially Sahara desert with its very dark skies is perfect for seeing and also capturing the night sky with the glorious Milky Way. The sky in the desert is wonderfully dark with minimum light pollution, which gives a great sight, which you can also see in the :

Europe - UK - England - Cornwall - Land's End - Penn an Wlas - Pedn an Wlas - Mainland Britain's most westerly point and one of the country's most famous landmarks, with 200 foot high granite cliffs that rise out of the Atlantic Ocean

End of May or June are great months to visit this wonderful special place as the sun set north enough to appear behind the arch, plus the wonderful Sea Pink or Purple Sea Thrift Flower is in full bloom everywhere along the cliffs. All you need is just the right amount of clouds for bit of color and not too much wind which somehow seem to be part of this dramatic location at all times.

Turkey - Türkiye - Istanbul - Ancient Byzantium & Constantinople - Kiz Kulesi - Maiden's Tower - Leander's Tower - Tower lying on small islet located at southern entrance of Bosphorus strait 200 m from coast of Üsküdar - One of the best-known sights of Istanbul

This might be one of the most iconic locations in Istanbul, but I only visited there during my last trip. The weather conditions were absolutely terrible, super strong wind, super strong rain, very cold day. Luckily at the end we managed to hide behind one of the small coffee shops along the seashore. The result is way better than I could hoped for considering how awful the evening weather was. You simply never know and you should always try till the end. I would like to add that once we left the very fragile shelter, we got the most of the strong downpour and I got to the ferry so soaken wet as probably never in my life. Things we do love.. ups photography ;))

Europe - UK - England - Cornwall - St Michael's Mount - Karrek Loos yn Koos - the Mount - Tidal island 366 metres (400 yards) off the Mount's Bay united with the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water.

Getting up before 4AM after less than 4 hours of sleep is never easy (at least for me), however when you know that there is a wonderful place like this ahead of you, it makes a bit easier. Timing the tide at this place is the key and it was rather perfect situation as the tide peaked at the sunrise and retreave from then on, revealing more and more of the path ahead of you.

Europe - Finland - Suomi - North of the Arctic Circle - Finnish Lapland - Lappland - Lapponia under fresh cover of snow during winter time - Aurora borealis - Northern light - Produced by solar wind particles guided by Earth's field lines to the top of the atmosphere

No single Northern Lights photo does true justice to what is happening on the sky during those unique moments when Northern Lights appear. After incredible experience of capturing my first ever timelapse in Iceland last year, I've headed to Frozen land of Arctic Lapland to capture Northern Lights under snowy landscape, which is often difficult to find along the coast. Average temperatures around - 25C dont make it particularly friendly experience, but the one which will always be treasured.

Europe - Scandinavia - Norway - North of the Arctic Circle - Lofoten Island - Moskenes - Hamnoy - Hamnøy - Picturesque fishing village under fresh cover of snow during pink sunset

Guilty as charged - one of the most photographed locations on Lofoten, but I simply could not help myself, because if there is A place to stay in Lofoten, it surely must be these cabins which might look like those traditional fisherman cabins from outside... but they are no longer anything like that inside. Wonderful interior, very different from when we stayed there 10 years ago.

Buachaille Etive Mòr (Scottish Gaelic: Buachaille Eite Mòr, meaning "the great herdsman of Etive"), generally known to climbers simply as The Buachaille or The Beuckle, is a mountain at the head of Glen Etive in the Highlands of Scotland. Its almost perfect pyramidal form, as seen from the A82 road when travelling towards Glen Coe, makes it one of the most recognisable mountains in Scotland, and one of the most depicted on postcards and calendars. Buachaille Etive Mòr takes the form of a ridge nearly five miles (8 km) in length, almost entirely encircled by the River Etive and its tributaries. The ridge contains four principal tops: from north-east to south-west these are Stob Dearg (1022 m), Stob na Doire (1011 m), Stob Coire Altruim (941 m) and Stob na Bròige (956 m). Stob Dearg and Stob na Bròige are both Munros; the latter was promoted to Munro status by the Scottish Mountaineering Club in 1997.

The steep, craggy north-eastern face of Stob Dearg forms the classic aspect of the mountain as seen from the Kings House Hotel, and constitutes the most direct route of ascent for climbers and scramblers. Buachaille Etive Mòr is separated from its sister mountain of Buachaille Etive Beag to the west by the valley of Lairig Gartain. To the east lies Glen Etive, which provides an alternative route of ascent, heading up steep grassy slopes to the summit of Stob na Bròige.

Isle of Skye - The Quirang is a fascinating rock formation on the Trotternish peninsula on Skye. It is approximately two miles north west of Staffin and six miles south east of Rubha Hunish. The Quiraing is a spectacular landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, the northernmost summit of the Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye. The whole of the Trotternish Ridge escarpment was formed by a great series of landslips; the Quiraing is the only part of the slip still moving, the road at its base near Flodigarry requires repairs each year.

The Trotternish Ridge lies on Skye's northernmost peninsula known as Trotternish. The northernmost summit on this ridge is known as the Quirang which has a fantastic maze of pinnacles, cliffs and flat grass tables that were formed by an ancient landslide of biblical proportions. From below these cliffs look huge, upon closer inspection you find many intricacies - scree slopes provide entrances to reveal an intricate maze of deep chasms and huge rock walls.

That is the feeling of this place when I arrived was still enough minutes for the sunrise, the whole scene was flooded with a purple light that is typical in some times just before a new day begins.

This cove is known as Cala Cocedores, because in the last century they cooked the esparto that was used in tasks of the sea.

I choose this selfportrait view, to give size to the scene, caught in the calm of that dawn haze.

The silence was absolute, and I entered the water with the wader, I tried to get through the long exposure to make the image as mysterious as possible.

For this I used a Formatt Hitech Firecrest filter system. Combining a four step Firecrest ND filter and a three step degraded Firecrest ND filter.

I hope you like it. Have a nice Friday. :)

Once again, beautiful September light. I like the simple, elegant style that you often see in Italian cities. When I developed the photo, I initially found it very chaotic. But if you look at it a little longer, the depth becomes apparent.

The Salton Sea's Sunken City is just simply astonishing. I obviously enjoy alliteration.

I hope this makes all of you as cozy as I feel right now, as I lumber off to bed at this ridiculous hour. I will be giving a talk at barcamp today entitled 'Seeking America', addressing all the phototrekking I have been doing, and largely just sharing my work as well as stories from my travels. Also, trying to encourage others to spend more time exploring more of their country, and finding magic in the seemingly mundane, or unexpected. I'm nervous. I hope I get a decent attendance.

Today I share this photograph made last Sunday in the "Marjal dels Moros", a location to which since last December I am coming very much, since I had never seen it with water in all the years that I have been visiting it.

It was a sunset with timid colors but with a lot of wind that moved the clouds, it even rained just minutes after this shot.

I resisted hunting this area with spectacular lights, I hope to have time before it empties more, to be able to immortalize it as it deserves ...

On the technical side, say that I only used a neutral gradient three steps filter combined with a four steps ND filter.

I hope you like it. Have a nice Tuesday. :)

This might be a sight that you'd expect in some tropical place during rainy season, but definitely not in Middle East. During that few hours of rain, there fell more rain than in entire year !! and you could tell, many streets completely flooded, many places turned into temporary lakes, where it was more convenient to have a boat not a car ;))

This was meant to be a lovely sunrise shot, but I am glad I captured something so rare instead ;)

Europe - UK - England - Cornwall - North Cornwall - Trebarwith Strand - Trebervedh Sian - The Strand - Vast cliffs, dark caves, fine golden sand and Gull rock, almost reminiscent of a dogs head emerging from Atlantic Ocean during moody evening

This shot is such a nice example that photos can be captured in whatever conditions. It was dark, cold, windy (luckily from opposite direction than the sea), rainy evening... If it was not for the meeting of old friend Adam Burton, that I wanted to see for some time, I would have stayed in my Camelot Castle Hotel, wondering its halls and sitting around the round table pretending to be King Arthur (or least his queen ;)) But because I had extra reason to go out, I went and had a great time with my friend while also taking some photos I'm happy with. Not your typical colorful sunset, but moody seascape shot that I like ;)

Middle East - Turkey - Türkiye - Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey - Antalya Province - Alanya - Alaiye - Beach resort city located on the Turkish Riviera below the Taurus Mountains - Historical town center & harbor with Lighthouse at Sunset - Dusk - Twilight - Night

Latest development in Turkey is not the most cheerful one. It is a country where I've been on many occasions, always having wonderful time while exploring this fascinating melting pot of cultures. I do hope there will be many more visits in the future, once the situation calms down and resolves in the best possible way. Lighthouse is a symbol of hope for many, as it always was a guiding light to safety of a harbour or as a warning sign on dangerous coast. May this photo of a lighthouse be symbol of the guiding light into safety from the stormy times that Turkey is experiencing now.

Middle East - GCC - United Arab Emirates - UAE - Dubai - Dubai Marina - Artificial canal city with sky high modern buildings along the sea shore

Dubai is a city with rather interesting layout. It currently has the highest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa and several high sky buildings around it, then about 25km of "nothing" in form of one or two stories small houses along the coast and then comes this brand new high sky area of marina with mainly residental buildings. It is not the easiest area to photograph as you are always too close to too high buildings, the only time when you can capture this place properly is from the top of one of the highest buildings, which is extremely difficult to get access to, especially now after several serious fires in some buildings, including the famous luxury hotel "The Address" that caught serious fire on the New Year's evening. Luckily no fire went on the day I was up at this amazing view, just lovely last rays of light falling on top of those buildings before sunset.

Camera Model: Canon EOS 5DS; Lens: EF16-35mm f/4L IS USM; Focal length: 28.00 mm; Aperture: 7.1; Exposure time: 1/50 s; ISO: 100
