Here is a shot I snapped of Messier 57 - The Ring Nebula (M57) on Sunday April 19, 2015 at Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown, Rhode Island, USA. Residing at 2,600 light years distant, M57 is a planetary nebula with a diameter of about 2.6 light years. Found in the constellation Lyra, M57 is a small to mid-sized star transitioning into a white dwarf.

iSwarm is a swarm of luminous “sea creatures” that interact with passers-by. Subtle and hardly visible by day, iSwarm comes alive at night. As daylight fades, the cells of iSwarm illuminate the waters of Marina Bay with fluorescent light reminiscent of natural phenomena such as bioluminescent algae or the Aurora Borealis. iSwarm reacts to groups of visitors by detecting human presence and greeting them with subtle modulation of its light patterns.

Please, see my note on the pic- for the atmosphere of a fortune-telling (try the music I offer)!
"Madame Sosostris, famous clairvoyante,
Had a bad cold, nevertheless
Is known to be the wisest woman in Europe,
With a wicked pack of cards. Here, said she,
Is your card, the drowned Phoenician Sailor,
(Those are pearls that were his eyes. Look!)
Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card,
Which is blank, is something he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself:
One must be so careful these days..."

A star trail is a type of photograph that utilizes long-exposure times to capture the apparent motion of stars in the night sky due to the rotation of the Earth. A star trail photograph shows individual stars as streaks across the image, with longer exposures resulting in longer streaks. Typical exposure times for a star trail range from 15 minutes to several hours, requiring a 'bulb' setting on the camera to open the shutter for a longer period than is normal.

An image of Chinatown and the Chinese New Year Snake that is about 300 metres in length. Taken from a HDB building which overlooks this busy junction. Also got a couple of timelapses up here for my next timelapse, based on Singapore. Used f/22 and ISO 50 to obtain a slow-shutter speed of 1.3 seconds, I wanted to add motion to the scene (i.e. the car blur) too give the viewer a feel for the 'rushed' pace all over Chinatown.
Enjoy! :)

Couldn't resist a photo when the light fell onto the set like this.
I've actually always wanted to take more like this but I never get around to..
Pentax K1, adapted Petzval lens.
Shot around the corner from where I live. I had been wanting to try out the Magic Lantern firmware for Canon DSLRs so this was the perfect opportunity. 5-shot HDR (-2 -1 0 +1 +2) processed in Photomatrix.
This massive and intricately-decorated bell and pavilion was donated in 1976 to the people of Los Angeles by the people of the Republic of Korea to celebrate the bicentennial of the U.S. independence, honor veterans of the Korean War, and to consolidate traditional friendship between the two countries. The bell is patterned after the Bronze Bell of King Songdok, which was cast in 771 A.D. and is still on view in South Korea today.
The bell was cast in Korea and shipped to the United States. Weighing 17 tons, with a height of twelve feet and a diameter of 7-1/2 feet, the bell is made of copper and tin, with gold, nickel, lead and phosphorous added for tone quality. When it was built, it cost the Korean people $500,000. Four pairs of figures, each pair consisting of the Goddess of Liberty holding a torch, and a Korean spirit , are engraved in relief on the body of the bell. Each of the Korean spirits holds up a different symbol: a symbolic design of the Korean flag; a branch of the rose of Sharon, Korea's national flower; a branch of laurel, symbol of victory; and a dove of peace. The bell has no clapper but is struck from the outside with a wooden log.
The bell is set in a pagoda-like stone structure which was constructed on the site by thirty craftsmen flown in from Korea. It took them ten months and costs $569,680. The pavilion is supported by twelve columns representing the twelve designs of the Oriental zodiac. Animals stand guard at the base of each column.

RF is for "Rich Field" :)
Responsible for this and this.
From top:
Vixen RedDot finder
Hot-shoe adaptor
Canon EOS 60D with Astronomik CLS-CCD filter inside (inset)
Canon EF 70-200 f/4L USM lens with hood
Gitzo GH ball-head GH2780QR for framing
Vixen Polarie equatorial platform for tracking the sky
Manfrotto 410 Junior geared head for polar alignment (wobbly for 200 mm)
Generic Manfroto tripod
Powered by MagicLantern :)
Goes nice and steady for 90 seconds @55° declination and with some luck - even handles 180 seconds and even @25° dec.
To reach Mk II sturdier "polar alignment node" and faster lens are needed. Mk III comes with Hα-enabled camera. And the heart would rest when :)
The only problem is how to get the filter out of the camera's body to be able to photograph birds? :O

a new elaboration of some old shots. this is 9 exposures, taken with the fantastic auto function of magiclantern hdr functions (www.magiclantern.fm).
Here i'm triyng a new hdr workflow that i find really interesting if you like something like "natural" hdr toning (in this case not so natural, but it's all about your tastes).
If you are interested here is the description of the workflow:
import the raw in lightroom 4.1
Join the images as hdrpro in photoshop, but instead of doing tonemapping with photoshop, save a 32bit tiff (check the remove ghost box, if needed).
Then in lightroom (it works only from the 4.1 version) you can use the classic interface for tonemapping (go down with hilights, and go up with shadows and here it is)
Antique ' Magic Lantern ' Glass slide photographed....over a light box.. Bought at antique market.
..........Grateful thanks to EVERYONE that this image has made it to Explore.
Truly appreciated. Thanks ALL.

Digging into the travel archives as I've been very busy with uni and haven't taken any new images for a while. Here we can see the lovely Tainan City Park, one of its most major attractions.....the irony that it was near-empty when I visited, a large storm system is seen moving in over Tainan.

So just about finished my first day of travelling in Dubai, just one day left before I head to Singapore for 3 weeks.
All I can say is I am astounded at how incredibly interesting this country is, it's just so diverse and futuristic! Everywhere you look they are building something new!
