Through a magic lantern lens.

The inevitable result of photographing frontal boundaries is getting soaked in the rain. Not something I relish, but also not something I run from. To me it's part of the storm experience. There's something very liberating standing outside in the rain. It defies natural human tendency to seek shelter, to remain dry. But once I get past the initial shock (and am already soaked), that urge diminishes. I figure I can't get any wetter, so the damage is really done. At that point I can turn my attention back to photography. The key is to keep the outer lens element dry. I use a lens hood for that and try to keep the lens pointed downward. Generally once water droplets form, it's game over. But sometimes the effect is magical as it was on this day. I was shooting in heavy rain as the sun began to emerge in front of me. The frame instantly filled with lens flares, miniature images of my f/6.7 aperture. But even more incredible was the formation of rainbow colors within the water droplets that had settled on the lens. None of this was apparent in my viewfinder, it was all a trick of the light inside (and outside) of the lens elements. No skill at all here really, except realizing the backlight might provide an interesting photo. Beyond that it was pretty much shooting blindly and hoping for the best, standing soaking wet in the middle of a cemetery.
The pink-domed Putra Mosque is constructed with rose-tinted granite and can accommodate 15,000 worshippers at any one time. The basement wall of the mosque resembles that of the King Hassan Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco.
The mosque consists of three main functional areas - the prayer hall, the Sahn, or courtyard, and various learning facilities and function rooms. The prayer hall is simple and elegant, supported by 12 columns. The highest point below the dome is 250 feet above ground level.
The Sahn, landscaped with several decorative water features and bordered by colonnades, provides a huge yet welcoming and beautiful prayer space.
Its impressive minaret is influenced by the design of the Sheikh Omar Mosque in Baghdad. At 116m, it is one of the tallest minarets in the region and has five tiers, representing the Five Pillars of Islam

I have found a way to make several photos one after the other without triggering the shutter, which greatly reduces the mechanical wear of the camera and increases my pleasure to do time lapse carelessly.
Thunder storm in Albuquerque NM on 7/14/14.
The image is a stack of 5 minuets of shooting for 15 seconds per shot. The last strike that blows out the image was about 200 feet away and was the reason I decided to call it a night.

Expectations were high. Although after last year i did not expect a lot. Well I thought last year was shit, This year I have only been to Marischal College so far, And another disappointment. Pics of some guy waving a light stick around. This has been done to death and did not rock my boat at all. A guy standing next to me said this is only the start it gets better, So I stuck around for quit a bit waiting. No It is the same lightning effect all night long.. just crap..So if you go to Marischal College 5 mins is all you need. no need to wait around as it doesn't get any better.
