Lesson 34 of Beyond Beyond was to create a 'magic texture' and use this on a photo. The photo is from Kim Klassen. I used her texture 'benjamin', inverted it, and used a B&W adjustment layer. I saved it, applied it to the photo, and used the graduated filter to add a little bit of soft pink toning.
Magic is like paper crack ... sort of. Well, currently it is online Magic, but that doesn't make for good pictures.
On April 11, 2010 the Museum hosted a meetup for Flickr photographers in the Magic! exhibition.

Magic is the perfect subject to inspire people of all ages—especially kids—to learn about the science behind the magic, and the world around them.

The girl who was running the fruit/vegetable stand under a tent near where Jersey Shore Fightin’ Texas Aggie Ring told him, “Buy this melon. It’s magic.”
Now, Aggie Ring figured that she was bullshittin’ him. She wouldn’t be the first woman who had. That’s why everyone says, “The Devil has a woman’s tongue.” But, the melon was only $3.00 and Aggie Ring does like a good watermelon.
Aggie Ring chilled the melon in the ice box overnight. The next day he had me get it out for him. He took a sharp knife and lightly inserted it into the melon. Before he followed through with the cut. He said a little affirmation, “I am an Aggie Ring. There are many others like me but I am special. I know how to have a good time. I am an Aggie Ring of one. There can be only one Aggie Ring to rule them all!”
Then, Aggie Ring sliced through the melon. What happened next are what legends of lore come from. “I’ll be double God Damned!” exclaimed Texas Aggie Ring. It was a yellow, seedless watermelon. You don’t see those every day.
Aggie Ring had me slice it up carefully making sure I preserved every bit of the flesh of the fruit. For, when you take a bite of that delicious flesh, Aggie Ring swore, “You can see inside the fabric of the universe.”
Both Aggie Ring and I are planning on returning to that magical tent tomorrow. Assuming it ever existed.
