''Now don't be scared because this is fun, and this is my special place to share with special people, You can take a good look around and then when we swing I think we should fill our lungs with air and see if we can say something together, what do you think?'' said Ruby quietly.
Ava-Grace looked back at her a little scared, but she didn't say no. Ruby put her arm around her and started to swing her legs back and forth to get the swing going. Ava-Grace was smiling and started to relax.
''Okay after me I am gonna say 1, 2, 3, we are going to be free, and I promise nothing scary will happen, but you will feel like magic I promise'' Ruby told her
So as the swing fell back and forth Ruby said the magic words , we are going to be free. It didn't quite happen as planned but a little whisper came from Ava-Grace as she said
''What me ?''
Magic Island was a restaurant in Houston, Texas that featured a magic show and dinner at a high price. It closed after Hurricane Katrina and has never reopened since. Locked up pretty well, it has suffered ok against time, looters, and the elements. It has some holes in the roof, there has been a fire, and it has no electricity. With the permission of the people in charge of the property I was allowed to go through and photograph it before it is lost for all time. Most of these photos are either close up with a flash or I painted with my flashlight while the camera was on a tripod. There are disco balls, sarcophagi, a theater and a steam punk elevator. I had never been there before and it was interesting to go from room to room and have no idea what I would see next.
