The legendary Isle of Avalon, a place of wonder, magic, and peace in Arthurian legend, a place of technological dreams this morning!
Avalon pool this morning with Focus and the Canon Collective.
Thanks to the Canon Collective, this shot was taken with a loan 5DSR and 11-24mm Lens, both several steps above my regular equipment.
Unfortunately I had to wake up and hand them back before breakfast!
This photo was taken two days ago, on 10 November 2016, when I decided on the spur of the moment to do a short drive SW of the city. I haven't been taking much in the way of photos the last couple of weeks and have been feeling less and less motivated to go out.
However, on this particular day, I wanted to go to the Leighton Art Centre. By mistake, it took me much longer to get there than it should have done, despite following their map, and I arrived there five minutes after they closed. I asked if I could still wander part way down the hill to take a few photos. As the lady said, it was 'magic hour', with a wonderful sunset. The valley below and the distant mountains (zoomed in this photo) almost disappeared in an orange haze. It did, indeed, feel magical.
This wasn't my first visit, as I had been decades ago with my youngest daughter's Kindergarten class. In more recent years, I had been a couple of times with botany friends, to list all the plant species that we could find.
Sol Duc Falls is by most accounts one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Washington State and by proxy is one of the most sought out waterfalls by photographers - and chances are it ranks favorably nationwide in similar comparisons. Set within the thick temperate rain forest of the Olympic Mountains, the Sol Duc River creates one of the more uniquely shaped waterfalls in the northwest where it splits into as many as four channels - depending on the volume of the river - hurtling 37 feet off the side of a cliff into a narrow canyon, followed by an 11 foot flume-style drop as the river exits the canyon into a broader gorge below.
Prior to 1991 the accepted spelling of all features bearing this name was Soleduck (sometimes spelled Solduck as well). The Washington State Board of Geographic Names approved the change to Sol Duc because of its more accurate translation from the Quillayute word, meaning "magic waters."

It truly is enchanting!
A few more angles on this special falls in the comments.
Happy Friday!
The Magic Duck's rivalry with the Giant Frog had ground many lifetimes into centuries. Then early one midsummer's morning the sun, the moon, and the stars suddenly all fell in line. The Duck quickly mumbo-jumbo'ed all his abracadabra and through an impossible feat of witchery he hocus-pocused the frog to stone. The enchanted pond was now his and his alone.

It's not every day you can photograph a castle. :)
It may not be quite as real as those scottish or german castles but it surely was as magical in it's own way. Especially for my little girl!
Cheers.

The surprising glare of the warm sun shows its magic on this Sunday evening. Clouds slide in front of its rays while the light sparkles on the slowly moving water of this random canal. This synthesis is art in its totality and hence, immediately pulls the viewer under its spell.
Many situations constantly open up just like this one, yet this particular moment attracts more attention. Though this encounter is unpredictable, it is a pleasant surprise, unlike many others!
As the mind starts to digest what the eyes see, it begins to feel like slowly waking up from a dream. The moment when the stunning picture slowly fades until you are finally awake. While the situation impresses me, its colors start to fate just like when dreaming. And so, this magic is soon to be over again.
Yellow leaves like a golden coins everywhere, babbling streams, first beam of light breaking through the branches of trees and nobody around.. It was something magic that morning in the forest

This is John Trower performing at the Houston Association of Magicians banquet show tonight. He is a performer in the truest sense of the word, he performed in side shows for many many years and is just wonderful. A wonderful entertainer, you just don't find many like this now. We are lucky to have him as part of our magic community here in Houston.
I wish I could bottle it up and carry it in my pocket (or messy purse if you want to get technical) everywhere I go. Don't you? :)

Quisiera poder meterla en una botellita y llevarla en el bolsillo (o en mi desastrosa cartera si vamos a ponernos técnicos) a todas partes. Ustedes no? :)
“Words have a magical power. They can bring either the greatest happiness or deepest despair; they can transfer knowledge from teacher to student; words enable the orator to sway his audience and dictate its decisions. Words are capable of arousing the strongest emotions and prompting all men's actions.”― Sigmund Freud
100% natural phenomenon! No tricks or alterations to camera or anything else whatsoever! Taken with a Canon PowerShot A 620.
“Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars, Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.”

"Mesa Magic"
The badlands of Utah are covered with incredible and diverse mesas an sculpted canyons. Each area offers different and unique colors and perspectives. On this particular evening I flew my drone a little over 2 miles deep into this mesa side canyon. This was as far as I could go without losing contact with my drone. I turned it around and found this really amazing perspective looking back at where I had started. These yellow and blue/gray colors are completely natural and very common along this mesa.
