I had been watching this spider on the side of a parking lot post when he began to descend and start running rapidly across the ground. I thought I would lose him but he suddenly stopped. Their ill fortune was my good fortune.

May is I ♥ Chicago Month! A month-long pictorial tribute to those things big & small--from flowers on the ground to skyscrapers in the air--that make this my favorite city!
Flowers: While I'm sure the West Coast has its own share of gorgeous flora, I got my first DSLR while living here, and first filled my frame with Chicago's gorgeous flowers.
NOTE: Sorry for disappearing for days at a time...with only 3 weeks left before the move, my time is stretched so thin. As always, thank you all so much for your support, and you know I will do my very best to visit each of your streams. :)

But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors
Are beautiful like a rainbow

Not sure of the species of flower, but I love that they now come salted.

I took this at the same time I took macro time. If you look closely you can see a common element. You'll need to view the large version to see it ;)

~Explore~ Thanks!
Insect macros will be winding down quickly now. Weather has turned decidedly fall-like...overnight temps in the high thirties already. Insect activity has dropped way off.
Plus, Parks Dept has mowed the foliage habitat at the lake to the ground for this year, so my primary macro-shooting location is now more of a golf course than a nature reserve. Still have a fair number of photos stored up, but new stuff after that will be very limited.

Fly on Red Zinnia... It is the most common of all domestic flies, accounting for about 91% of all flies in human habitations, and indeed one of the most widely distributed insects, found all over the world.
