Things I ♥ Month Continues! We took a quick trip to San Francisco this past weekend, and it could not have been more amazing weather: 60° F (15° C), sunny and breezy. Gorgeous! And then we came home to Chicago, and the harsh reality of a real winter. But while we were still enjoying the Cali weather, I was able to capture more of my favorite things...
Street Photography: Whether it's the people or the surroundings, there's nothing as exciting as capturing the character, mood and scenery of a neighborhood. Sure, sometimes a bike messenger will tell you to "Get away from my bike, freak", but that's part of the charm.

Seems like today is a day to celebrate & enjoy new things:
- A newly redesigned Flickr page
- My first new photo & post since moving to San Francisco, and
- My new iPhone 4 arriving a day early! Woo-hoooo!
I've missed you all, but now I'm back! :)~
Yes, that's a white leather couch--what of it?

Happy Pretty Pink Tuesday !
Image info: There is no color nor tone manipulation of the subject ! Its the real color !
Single frame.
Flower crab spiders have the ability to change their colour to match their chosen flower for ambush purposes. The one I posted recently was primarily white, sat in a primarily white/cream flower. This one is very yellow and sat in a buttercup - same species of spider, just a different coloured flower. Nature is truly amazing.

Food Month Continues! This week's Macro Mondays theme is "Paper-Thin", so here we have sugary food on a thin sheet of paper...my idea of the best of both worlds. I always wondered if the paper on these was edible, because I certainly ate a lot of it growing up.
Candy Buttons: When I was little, I use to wear these delicious ribbons of dotted love around my neck like a scarf; this way I could have a nibble every now and then, but keep my hands free to play. It's never too early to begin multi-tasking. :)

New Year's Resolution: I have found that with each passing year of this internet age, I gather more of my information digitally (web, iPhone, Kindle, etc.), and spend less & less time reading actual books. And what's sad is I love sitting down with a good book and getting lost in the reverie of a well-written tome. So my goal this year is to make time to enjoy the sound & feel of turning a book's pages, rather than the click of a mouse.
Oversized books are always nice

Katydid: Shot this fella late last summer as he was quietly chomping away on a coneflower. He graciously posed for a few close-ups, then slowly sauntered away (totally unimpressed with my macro-insect bravery).

A small moth, one of the micro moths, this is the only moth in this family in the UK. About 8-9mm wing tip to tip.
7 handheld images stacked in Zerene
Taken with a very upset 2 yr old jumping on my back, with a handheld reversed 50mm lens up against my 40d body. Poor man's macro, it's called. Thanks, mo, for getting me hooked on this :-P
Life is funny that way...
It comes with unexpected turns...
And bitter ups and downs...
But don't let it stop you..
From seeing the beauty of the world...
As we pass by...

I ♥ Chicago Continues! A month-long pictorial tribute to those things big & small--from flowers on the ground to skyscrapers in the air--that make this my favorite city!
Snow: There's nothing prettier than a blanket of fresh snow covering Chicagoland...and nothing uglier than the tantrum I throw when I have to shovel it.
NOTE: Sorry for disappearing for days at a time...with only 3 weeks left before the move, my time is stretched so thin. As always, thank you all so much for your support, and you know I will do my very best to visit each of your streams. :)
