Happy Perfect Purple Saturday !

A very close macro shot for you today, only this is NOT shot with a macro lens.

This was shot with a 50mm lens and a 36mm extension tube.

So while people say to me “I wish I had a macro lens” I hope this demonstrates that not only is it unnecessary but in some circumstances not as good. How many f1.2 or f1.4 macro lenses do you know of?

I hope you enjoy the photo. Have a good Saturday !

I'd never seen an orange one before. Two springtails also in the shot.

Every week a new challenge to find something to make a good photo for the actual theme of macro Monday. Usually Monday morning until Tuesday, I look several times a day the new photos, the creative solutions, like some of them, post comments or add them to my Macro Monday’s gallery. And of course, If possible, I look for the tag of the week, restrict it by date to last Tuesday during the weekend

From Tuesday late afternoon, I ponder the new theme, try some different ideas, start to make some photos, post one to four pictures at flicker and finally post one of them on Monday in the Macro Mondays group. Typically, I start late Friday to Sunday, sometimes Monday to take pictures and post them here

Anyway broken, broken glass, Spider app, was my first idea. Still have some broken egg shells in the kitchen same as dried Edamame Finally, I settled to four photos this time in BW.

The first one Is broken wood stick, diameter approx. 8 mm, normally used for holding plants. The second one are two flower petal. One of them, there are two parts, the other one is only one. The next pictures are of dried figs, they are not that dry. But neither flower petal nor figs give great twisted lines. Here they are, the broken, twisted, shattered textures of the fracture.

Less than 4 hours, before the first picture are posted into the group, the first fifty or so candidates are already only, HMM

"Get Down on It" Week Continues! A 7-day celebration of looking down our noses at our subjects, much like King Henry VIII did.

Swingset: When I was little, all I ever wanted was to go as high as I could on the swings so that my feet would touch the sun. And yes, I fell on my head more than once while trying. I realize that explains a lot.

It has rained here in Chicago for nearly two weeks straight. When did Fall become synonomous with damp, wet & soggy? How are we supposed to enjoy the sound of rustling leaves when they're all droopy & dreary? I sure wouldn't feel like rustling if I were soaking wet all the time.

Happy Bokeh Wednesday! (#1 of 2)

Things I ♥ Month Continues! I'll bet you think this is another shot of jelly beans like last month, right? Nope. I have switched out the contents for another yummy treat that I love even more than candy (but something just as sweet)...

Bokeh in a Bottle: I love bokeh! Not sure when I first developed a taste for it, but now I crave it on a daily basis (you might even use the word addict). Wherever I go, I like to keep a jar of it nearby for when I need a quick, healthy snack. I like the assorted colors kind, but black & white is just as tasty. Mm-mm-good. :)~

Big Love

Stack for Macro Mondays, as defined as pile or heap of items placed one on top of the other with at least three single elements. And since I have a small bag full of them, for one of the last Macro Monday challenges, why not use them again.

Crown caps stack from different brands of beer, stacked on top of each other, is less simple then it looks, the just break down fast, by mechanical movement or minor shocks.

Playing with water drops. This caterpillar appeared to like them. Some people have asked if these drops are real. They are! They are water drops refracting the flowers behind. The caterpillar was tiny and when it walked in I could not resist this shot.
