Trying something different tonight. Dropping cream into water.
Yes, there definitely is something jellyfishy about this.
The Odd One - Macro Mondays
This photo took a bit of adjusting and rethinking..... eventually there was only a hint of what was odd
For all those who commented and faved my water splashes. It means a lot to me. I'm very proud of this one. It may be my favorite so far.
For this I used a black cast iron pan with water to get the black background. Speedlite 430 EX ll set to lowest power and aimed directly at the drop (about 2 inches away) to illuminate only the drop. Food coloring with a bit of milk in the eyedropper.
Exposure at 1/200
Aperture f16
ISO - 200

In this one, I wasn't fast enough to get the colour from the manual flash. This is the second drop in the tank and is lit by a flash from the top with a blue gel and one on the left front with a red gel. White cream was used for the liquid.
A mind of it's own. Speedlite 430 EXll from the rear behind frosted glass and a Speedlite 580 EXll with a red gel from the right, both at 1/64th power. I was trying to get it to fall to the front like this. You get some neat splashes this way.
Thank you so much for all your comments. I'm amused by all our interpretations of these. I'm not sure how far I'll take these, but it's a fun journey so far.
As I mentioned in one of my previous shots, I bought a reverse ring for mounting my Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 as a magnifying glass.
That's the first picture I took outside.
I chose f/8.
It's an European garden spider (Gartenkreuzspinne; Araneus diadematus), magnification ratio was about 2.5:1.
I hope you like it :)
Next step will be jumping spiders and stacking :D

This one is done with the flash guns on a red plastic background. The flash guns are set at the corners of the pan in front of the drop in order to illuminate the drop and the red background. I used water with a few drops of milk.
Took a stroll in the yard morning for a few contrasty monochrome images.
Fujifilm X-Pro3 ACROS simulation. SOOC
This one has blue food colouring in the water. I used a blue gel on the flash behind the drop and a red and yellow gel on the flash underneath the splash which gives it the colour effects.
Have a great weekend.
