A very small Oxytopes salticus from the garden - very cooperative subject...

he Golden Orb Weaving Spiders build large, strong orb webs with a golden sheen.

Golden Orb Weaving Spiders are large spiders with silvery-grey to plum coloured bodies and brown-black, often yellow banded legs.

"A spider lives inside my head Who weaves a strange and wondrous web Of silken threads and silver strings To catch all sorts of flying things, Like crumbs of thoughts and bits of smiles And specks of dried-up tears, And dust of dreams that catch and cling For years and years and years..."

Shel Silverstein

I have a special place in my heart for most spiders, but I especially love little jumping spiders. When I captured this image, I'd only had my macro lens for a short time. The whole world seemed even more enchanting when going small game hunting.

Here's to letting our small eight legged friends cohabit peacefully with us.

From a series of shots I took during a visit to the US. It was a joy and such fun to watch this tiny female jumping spider going about her business in amongst the foliage and flowers.

In my plant on my desk :)

Careful here, that's not for the faint of heart or the arachnophobic (like me). It's only a picture, folks. And in reality it is very small. So now, after this speech, you can enlarge the photograph if you want to see the spiders chelicerae. That's nothing obscene, It's their "mouthpiece"., the fangs. I shouldn't have read the Wikipedia article about chelicerae. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelicerae

A tiny arachnid, down in the weeds...

This garden spiders web on my deck had gotten wrecked and that little spider has rebuilt it time and time again. I then see across the deck is another garden spider, maybe their dating.

Trying out the Olympus STF-8 twin flash unit, this is a hand held single shot

Third time's the charm. The first two photos weren't as clear, and as soon as I took this shot, the spider scurried off to the back of the leaf.

This one caught my eye, lit by the rising sun with deep shade in the background. For Arachtober 9...

I still enjoy my summer, you?

Same slow connection that made me give up uploading several times.

As i was sitting in my office i saw this spider.....so thin and small .......it was very difficult to focus it.

Pls see this in large

I'm pretty sure of the id on this one. Stack of 4 images with a 28mm reverse mount. I wish it would have stayed put a little longer to get a few more spots in focus.

Was heading for bed and thought I'd keep everybody entertained. This is one of those tiny long legged spiders that seem to make it into every corner of your house. I was amazed when I saw the real thing this morning.
