A close-up shot of an insect in Bomassa, northern #Congo. Bomassa is the base camp for the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park (NNNP). The NNNP covers over 4,000km² of intact lowland rainforest in northern #Congo, harboring important populations of large mammals, including forest elephants, western lowland gorillas and chimpanzees.

I have never managed much success with bee macros. They just never seem to stay still long enough for me to phaff about ! Not ideal, I know, but this one might just be a keeper !

Celithemis eponina. A very attractive dragonfly, first time I've seen one.

This is the first I've encountered here. Photo of wings spread to follow.

Looking like a war machine (which it effectively is in the insect world) a robber fly. It actually has a small insect in its mouth.

Sur les bords de la rivière de la Pierre Saint Martin, les libellules sont abondantes. Certaines sont si gentiles à s'arreter quelque instant pour se faire prendre en photo (Cosinon 135 mm + bague de 24 mm)

 

At the border of the river at La Pierre Saint Martin (Pyrenés), there are lot of fireflies. Some of them are so kind to stop flying and to allow me taking a picture (Cosinon 135 mm + 24 mm tube).

Lounging millipede under a board, under my lens at this point.

As the evenings warm up, moths start to make their appearance.
