Sorry Wrong Numbers™: The Way Apple Pricing & Trade-In Offers Work.... - IMRAN™
In full disclosure, I am a MacUser since 1984, and (mostly) love (most of) my Apple products. My day job is with Microsoft. But this tongue in cheek comment in the meme is based on reality. Apple did a good thing when it started offering trade-in offers to switch to newer model iPhones or even Apple Watch devices.
Then some beancounter just couldn't help it. They decided to find a way to screw loyal customers who had paid massive full prices for top of the line models with basically peanuts values on trade-in.
That is what made me comment that when Apple's next super-duper-I-don't-even-try-price-it maxed out Mac Pro comes out it may add up to $60,000 but a week later the beancounters there would maybe offer $60 in trade-in value for those. One hopes they learnt some embarrassing lessons from that whole recent episode and it does not happen this way.

Returned for a second go at Bolsa Chica, it's our 6th early morning out during the family holiday in SoCal
Inky Mushroom (Agaricus moelleri), on our 4th and final stop of the second day of our Fungi Tour of Ancient Sussex Churches and their Churchyards
Scarlet Caterpillarclub (Cordyceps militaris) and it's host caterpillar.
This specimen (one of the many found at this specific location) was originally found partially buried on top of one of the ancient moss covered graves in a Sussex churchyard during our Fungi Tour of Ancient Sussex Churches, on one of our stops, 22 October 2015.
The image was produced with artificial light and processed from 40 individual image files using a process called Focus Stacking.

After recent events, the Mac Pro is is stuck at Mac OS 10.10.5 Yosemite. I may be able to get Windows 7 on there, and probably update it to Windows 10. I do not believe the future Windows 11 will work, but who knows. I currently have Windows 10 running on a 2018 Mac Mini. It runs better on the Mac mini than it does on that HP thing at work. No surprise there.
Of course I cannot find my Windows 7 Pro serial number.

This is my home office, where I work. At this place I write, both software and garden variety attempts to communicate with my own kind; I edit images, surf the net, go back and forth with the folks who work for me, maintain our local servers and some remote ones we are responsible for, and more.
There's often a cat up on top the Marantz gear, though not right when I took this image. Fickle little beasts. :-)
Deb's workstation is just to the right of all this, two more monitors for a Mac Mini and a big XP machine, plus an XP laptop make their home over there. I use a Macbook Pro, with Parallels running both linux and XP.
Deb and I spend a lot of time sitting next to each other, leaving our nasty little footprints all over the Internet.
