Microstructural Machine is based on the experimental model of the Bubble Raft proposed by Nobel Laureate William Lawrence Bragg in 1947, and is an extension of this model to construct a real-time dynamic microstructural machine. This drawing machine uses the properties of crystalline structures as the drawing unit, and the dynamic staggered arrangement of controlled crystalline structures to create a miniature landscape, attempting to strike a balance between the properties of natural materials and human control, and exploring the hidden orders of nature.

Our Maker Art class created a Time Machine this year, inviting you to travel through time from the age of dinosaurs to the 50th century.

 

Our 4th and 5th graders at the Lycée Français designed their own scenes from the past, present or future, and brought them to life with motion, lights and sounds. They also worked in teams to build interactive features like illuminated keypads, spinners and doors, using the popular Arduino platform.

 

In our after-school classes, we combine art, technology and storytelling to help children create their own magical worlds. They learn to design their ideas, build them with a variety of tools, animate them with electronics and tell their stories. This unique multimedia course helps them develop their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills -- and builds their confidence that they can help change the world.

 

This year, we had a really good group of 9 students, ages 8 to 11 -- many of whom had taken our Maker Art classes before. They were very creative and engaged, and did a great job presenting their work at the Lycée Français -- and at Marinovators at the College of Marin on April 22.

 

This Maker Art class was taught by Fabrice Florin and Edward Janne at the Lycée Français in Sausalito in winter 2017. We met every week for 12 workshops of 90 minutes each, Thursdays at 3:30pm, from January 5 to March 30, 2017. Our teachers are part of the Tam Makers learning community and we prepared materials for this project in our state-of-the-art makerspace at the nearby Tam High School.

With leftover material from Anis's baju kurung, I made her a dress!

Since I dont have a machine, this dress was handstitched, and it took me about a week to complete.

I am proud :)

A spoil board is sacrificial material that’s used underneath the material you want to cut on a CNC machine. This ensures a better through cut and is usually MDF. I’ve noticed that when the spoil boards are all used up at ITP, some really amazing patterns are formed.

What goes up must come down.... In this case, it came down before it ever went up.

 

Notice the flying parts. When you fall down under power, there is usually some destruction to the machine. This one was pretty major in the damage department. This was a very expensive fall. :-(

But there is a solution for people without electronic payment options. The one-time access card for one franc at the Selecta vending machine. That is bizarre. The plastic card is packed in a cardboard to be dispensed by the machine. This each time results in waste. The production of the card and packaging is not free either. SBB must compensate Selecta for the occupancy of one or more output compartments. In the end, no one earns anything. In Chur, toilet cards cost 1.50 CHF. If these also work with toilets that cost 1 CHF, I don't know. Switzerland, September 26, 2024. (3/5)

Chris' mom gave me this shirt yesterday. She told me she found it at Wal-Mart. She's so nice buying stuff like that.

I love it! XD It's a tad bit snug, but it's not bad. I'll just hang it up to dry instead of putting it in a machine. This is what I'm wearing today and I may have to wear it even after Halloween.

I finally finished my bubble dress aftere 3 days of hard working.

Since I don't have a sewing machine, this dress is 100% hand stitched.

The hardest part is to make the ruffles even and natural. My patience paid off here. It took lots of pins and finger poking.

Harvesting the canola crop. The mature but still green plant has the seed pods cut off and deposited on top of the stalks by a windrowing machine. This allows the seed pods to fully dry over a few weeks. A harvesting machine then gathers the pods and separates the seed.

Our Maker Art class created a Time Machine this year, inviting you to travel through time from the age of dinosaurs to the 50th century.

 

Our 4th and 5th graders at the Lycée Français designed their own scenes from the past, present or future, and brought them to life with motion, lights and sounds. They also worked in teams to build interactive features like illuminated keypads, spinners and doors, using the popular Arduino platform.

 

In our after-school classes, we combine art, technology and storytelling to help children create their own magical worlds. They learn to design their ideas, build them with a variety of tools, animate them with electronics and tell their stories. This unique multimedia course helps them develop their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills -- and builds their confidence that they can help change the world.

 

This year, we had a really good group of 9 students, ages 8 to 11 -- many of whom had taken our Maker Art classes before. They were very creative and engaged, and did a great job presenting their work at the Lycée Français -- and at Marinovators at the College of Marin on April 22.

 

This Maker Art class was taught by Fabrice Florin and Edward Janne at the Lycée Français in Sausalito in winter 2017. We met every week for 12 workshops of 90 minutes each, Thursdays at 3:30pm, from January 5 to March 30, 2017. Our teachers are part of the Tam Makers learning community and we prepared materials for this project in our state-of-the-art makerspace at the nearby Tam High School.

L-bot and I made a go of a rather slow Wednesday in style. It's cold now, and she had to make her way here on a undersized bicycle this morning. Comic I'm sure.

 

So I cranked up the heat in the office and kept the door shut. Next priority of course was the wake-up drinks. Gibraltars, made with straight shots of Screen Dried. I'm actually kinda stoked on the Screen Dried again, which had fallen out of favor for a while.

 

But the chocolates are smooth and sweet, and carry well as singles in these smaller drinks. My milk-fu is seriously in trouble. It doesn't have that smooth-lazy-relaxed feeling about it. Instead, I'm having to will the milk to move in the pattern of pour. It's frustrating. I actually tossed the first couple cause they looked so unfortunate.

 

I really need to get more time behind the machine. This also gives me a perspective on Barnett's insistence (ok, well maybe not insistence) that he make our drinks. It's in your hands and you need to do something with them. That and the giving of drinks to people who appreciate them.

 

I might actually be missing customers.
