Using a very old machine, this woman stitched names and designs onto cloth completely freehand.

One day, our flight was delayed and there really isn’t a lot to do in the Las Vegas airport but eat, drink coffee and gamble. Mike decided to put $20 in a slot machine. Two spins later, “Bing, Bing, Bing” and money started pouring out of the machine. This was when slot machines paid you off in coins, so I grabbed a bucked and started filling it. Mike grabbed a handful of coins and went to the next machine. Just as I finshed filling 1 1/2 buckets, the machine Mike was at started “Bing, Bing, Bing” - another Jackpot. We continued that all the way around the group of machines. In the end, we walked away with about $2,000 - and people say you don’t win at the airport!

That experience started us gambling in Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe and even the Indian Casinos. Overall, we did pretty good when we gambled.

Las Vegas is the favorite place, not just beause of the gambling, but for the shows, being able to do some people watching, and the shopping. AND we got to visit Mike’s Mom and the part of the rest of his family.

Our Maker Art class created a Time Machine this year, inviting you to travel through time from the age of dinosaurs to the 50th century.

Our 4th and 5th graders at the Lycée Français designed their own scenes from the past, present or future, and brought them to life with motion, lights and sounds. They also worked in teams to build interactive features like illuminated keypads, spinners and doors, using the popular Arduino platform.

In our after-school classes, we combine art, technology and storytelling to help children create their own magical worlds. They learn to design their ideas, build them with a variety of tools, animate them with electronics and tell their stories. This unique multimedia course helps them develop their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills -- and builds their confidence that they can help change the world.

This year, we had a really good group of 9 students, ages 8 to 11 -- many of whom had taken our Maker Art classes before. They were very creative and engaged, and did a great job presenting their work at the Lycée Français -- and at Marinovators at the College of Marin on April 22.

This Maker Art class was taught by Fabrice Florin and Edward Janne at the Lycée Français in Sausalito in winter 2017. We met every week for 12 workshops of 90 minutes each, Thursdays at 3:30pm, from January 5 to March 30, 2017. Our teachers are part of the Tam Makers learning community and we prepared materials for this project in our state-of-the-art makerspace at the nearby Tam High School.

You can see stream of your own blood moving just by putting you hand under this light from the vein viewer machine. This was my far favorite technology in NextFest 2006.

handsewn scarf of the scraps leftover from when i cut out my circles.

they are scarps of felted, dyed wool sweaters. this is one of my

freeform scarves. i also make the grid like ones on the sewing machine. this is the before of the one in the pot and in the sink. the colors were too bright, and wanted in more subdued.

We don't see this sign much anymore in these parts. The pumps are gone, though it looks like someone still stocks the soda machines. This is along Illinois Highway 100 in Milton.

This is a replica of the first motorcycle, now exhibited in the Smithsonian museum. Sylvester Howard Ropel built his first steam motorcycle in 1868, he was the first to use motorcycles, 17 years before Gotlieb Daimler. Ropel was killed in 1899 in the first motorcycle accident in history - he became a heart stroke in 64 km/h speed on his machine. This replica is fully functionable.

1959 Jaguar XK150 FHC

Chassis No. S835771BW

Engine No. V5366-8

Transmission: Automatic

Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The alloy bonnet was also widened, and opened down to the wings.

In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by an elegantly leather trimmed dash. Thinner doors gave the interior needed space as well.

Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in. Disc-Brakes appeared for the first time. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. Steering was by rack and pinion; power steering was not offered. Production ended in October of 1960.

S837312: Offered here is an elegant fixed head coupe, meticulously restored from top to bottom, with no detail overlooked.

This iconic British roadster is finished in a beautiful metallic blue over dark blue upholstery, complimented by chrome wire wheels, and driving lamps; displaying excellent fit and finish throughout. The car also features correct “J” headlamps and dual exhaust.

The cabin of the 150 is quite striking. Supple hides and well polished wood adorn the cockpit as well as plenty of brightwork. An aftermarket stereo system has been installed under the dash.

The well sorted 3.4L motor is quite stout, exhibiting strong acceleration and steady idling as the automatic transmission shifts through all gears with ease. As a reliable machine, this Jaguar certainly draws attention with its striking looks, all while offering a pleasant care-free driving experience.

Meticulous Full Restoration!

Well sorted throughout!

Excellent fit and finish!

below is a photo of how i am going to re-create my environment.

MAX.

right at the time when i was a videoclerk, i began to re-create my environment into that of my work. when at home i began to re-enact work itself. i created a work-live hybrid. i became kind of a motor, a machine. this was feeling quite okay, means there wasnt any feeling harming or harrassing me. being part of this calculable and reasonable blueprint for undisturbedness, i could concentrate on watching carefully. one of those evenings i was watching something like a family hollywood movie called the big fish. things changed on this evening, my mind changed. i began to realise that life is an assumption of the stories you tell, mainly to yourself. might not even be the stories you tell, but those that you may remember and how you remember. so its all up to you, i can do whatever the heck i like.

so i decided to want to become this other fella. i did not really choose consciously but it was kind of chosen or i chose it before i even could make it up in my mind. i tried to throw away what i had amassed in my previous time. i wanted to spit it out, let it rot. i had to become this other fella. not in a metaphorical sense, but literally. i had to become him with all of his options with all that he stood for. this was the hardest work i ever did in my whole life and it didnt pay off, it didnt do justice and still there was nobody that did pay me for that. not even minimum wage. i sure didnt pay me for that, too, the merciless boss that i am. i let me slave away for days and weeks and months and years and i did not even give me a warm handshake. sometimes you just gotta be hard.

I estimate well over a thousand bikes. Many were Harleys. There was a fantastic atmosphere, Everyone was friendly, and there for a good time and to show off their machines.

This was my first portrait and a stranger .I was a little anxious but he was charming, and chivalrous and happy.

1985 Honda V65 Sabre

The Sabre got rave reviews when it was introduced. It had a sophisticated air adjusted front suspension and Honda’s all new Pro-link single rear shock. Add a bibration free powerful, vee-four motor and the result was a very capable high speed touring machine. This example is an unrestored original. Top Speed 145, weight 603 lbs, six speed transmission, and 36 mm carborators.

Thermal Vacuum Plastic Forming machine (Vacuuforming) custom built for a client who needed to rapidly tool up some parts for his customers. This works by warming up plastic in the oven until it is flexible, then placing the plastic over a mold affixed to this machine. This machine will pull a vacum and suck the plastic against the mold before it hardens, thereby creating the part you want.

Each morning thousands of workers of all ages walk down the dusty river bank, basket and spade in hand. They dig, pull out the stones, and carry them on their heads to the hundreds of noisy stone-crushing machines. This is one trade, which has a geological limit. The stones that tumble down the riverbed from India are decreasing in volume, and the labourers are already taking the risk of invading the no-man’s land along the Indo-Bangla border. More than 10000 men, women and children are engaged as stone labourers here.

The basic Mills "Hightop" by the end of the 1940's was the triple 7 "21," with reel symbols having watermelons and outlined "7" symbols over some of the fruits. Hitting three 7 symbols paid a special $10 in a nickel machine. This machine also has a "Mystery Payout?"

By making payouts more liberal the roadhouses and casinos running slots attracted more players. By 1950 the 7-7-7 became the 21 STANDARD, and a gleaming CHROME 21 model was added.

Quilt top...

Pieced and quilted by sewing machine, this quilt is my take on the traditional double wedding ring quilt design and is made from new and vintage cotton fabrics and cotton batting.

They say that Meadville is the Tool and Die capital of the world. Our town has lots of machines grinding, cutting and stamping out other machines. This little park has a nice display of old machines that were once used to apply an insane amount of force on a very small area.

I played around with Photoshop to brighten things up. Do you think this series looks too "Photo-shoppy"?

This is a 3d image. You will need your red/cyan 3d glasses to get the effect. Remember that the red lens goes over the left eye!

Mo is always curious about 2 things, one is what is inside the toilet seat and two what is inside the washing machine. This morning, as I was preparing to wash my clothes I accidentally left the door opened and Mo with his athletic agility ran from the living room to the kitchen and jumped inside the washing machine. Here is a photo of Mo peeking out from my bundle of clothes.
