Attending the Pikes Peak Hill Climb needs to be on every ones Bucket List! Late in the day this freightliner truck came past. What a violent machine this thing was! Talking with the Detroit engine tuner earlier. I was told that the 60 series produced 3000 HP and estimated 4-5000 LBS of torque. It had a 110mm turbo then pumped into a huge blower. He was proud of the fact that the driver was having trouble putting it clear to the floor during the practice runs. Calling him a weanie! Yeah well when that thing came past I could feel a little shiver of fear just standing there!
This is an unusual find. I've never seen a HappyWash location with a soft touch automatic machine this tall before. This Softcare 2 Pro is the largest I've ever seen, with a washing height of 2.8 metres. Not sure why they didn't go all the way and get a machine with the 2.9 metre washing height, there looks to be enough room.
Like a lot of other HappyWash locations, this machine replaced what appeared to be a California Kleindienst CK45 in the early 2010s.

A 'touring' aeroplane which also became a very fast and competitive racing machine. This aircraft still hold the FAI Class C.16 100km. closed circuit record at 192.83 mph. Like many aircraft she was dismantled and stored during WW2. Eventually being rebuilt in 1971 to such a highly competitive standard that she was placed second in the 1972 King's Cup Air Race at nearly 50 years old.

Hastings Diesel unit 1001 works 1z84 the ' Salisbury Star ' from Hastings to Salisbury over the junction off the Guildford line just east of Havant station. GREAT machine this unit is :)
Vee blocks are used to set the crankcase at 45 degrees, the corner can then be machined. This face will be horizontal on the finished machine and the sump will bolt to this face.
In the seventies I used to mount and frame my watercolours and pastels myself. I used a steel straight edge and a Dexter matte cutter to double mount the paintings.
These days they use more sophisticated equipment to cut mounts. The digital machine this shop uses cost £30,000 and will cut any shape - even lettering.
The shop specialises in framing pop and sport memorabilia. They had even framed one of Ricky Hatton's boxing gloves from his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. signed by them both. Yours for a mere £1,200.
Dave had them mount and frame his memorabilia from the 2008 European Cup final in Moscow. Today we collected it and Dave posed with the lady in the shop for this photo.

January 18th, 2010.
Today I went to work at Silver Peak, came home and did Dirty's Laundry stuff for hours and hours, left to get grocceries (including beer) and quarters for the laundry machines.
This is me drinking some delicious Mothership Wit, which actually gave me a horrible stomach ache afterward.
Also one of the washers & one of the dryers were broken downstairs. I wasted a total of $3 before I figured it out.
According to this picture, what do I collect?

So I've told you about the diaper cake and the towel cakes. Now, in the foreground are the souvenirs for everybody. These were purchased. These were multi-colored wooden flowers with clip for your notes, reminders or photos. I laminated (with the machine this time) baby's photos so it won't tear and gather dust easily. On each pot is a transparent sticker with the event's details.
After I got my shots of the High Street, I went back to Henley-in-Arden Station to go home.
As I expected, it is quite a deserted station (maybe as it is a Sunday).
And another thing, the station building is boarded up, so if you live round here, where do you buy your tickets from (other than online)? Didn't see a ticket machine.
This is the second station to be called Henley-in-Arden Station. It opened in 1908.
On the Shakespeare Line, currently operated by London Midland.

Saw some extra tracks on the possibly unused side of the station.
There was two more lines of rails at the station. I'm not sure if they are in use (on the equivelent of platform 3).
I'm sure I saw somewhere on this line "Alight here for Mary Arden's House". Well it wasn't Henley-in-Arden. Which station was it?

My current Scrap Attack and BOM project is this 4 patch quilt top. And I have them set on point for this quilt. Anyway, today I began sewing the blocks together into diagonal rows. I'm straightening the ends each row with a neutral color. I'm not sure whether I'll add borders yet. There are more blocks on the floor to give me the length I need. They will be attached to the bottom of the rows when I get that far. I think I'll need another block or 2 on the width to make it a twin size.
I've kept the girlie pink and purples out of this one also, so it can be a gender neutral quilt.
I've been working on these 4 patch blocks as I try out my new replacement sewing machine. After 5 trips to the service dept. to fix the same issue, they agreed to replace the machine. Sadly, the replacement machine has the stitching glitch that my other machine (still under warranty) was plagued with. I hope to be getting a different new machine this week and hopefully my local quilt shop owner will be agreeable to my request. I'm not sure what brand yet, but probably not a Husqvarna. My patience is gone for their inability to figure out what is causing the stitching problem. If asked for my opinion on the Husqvarna 965Q machine, I would say, save yourself the grief and don't buy it!!! I was a Husqvarna fan before this machine and recommended them to others. My last machine was a Husqvarna Freesia, and it was a great machine. Now, it's just really sad when my $97.00 Brother machine has a far superior stitch quality over a $2000.00 + machine has.

Don't let his size fool you:Junior is only 18months old.And don't let his collar or colour or breed fool you either:this is no aggressive fighting machine. This is a soulful and sad little boy, who needs someone gentle to let him into their home and love him for who he is, and not abuse him for what he may look like.

They say that Meadville is the Tool and Die capital of the world. Our town has lots of machines grinding, cutting and stamping out other machines. This little park has a nice display of old machines that were once used to apply an insane amount of force on a very small area.

While I was wandering around Harrisburg taking pictures, a guy popped out of the old switching tower just down from the Harrisburg train station and said "Hey, do you want to see the inside of the tower?" So of course I said yes, and when we got to the top floor he showed me this massive machine.
This machine is how operators used to control switches on railroad tracks. Every lever corresponds to a switch. As the controller got calls from trains requesting a certain route, he would call out what switches needed thrown and then a crew of three guys would race around throwing all of the levers into the correct position.
They have this rigged up into a simulator. Every Saturday starting in May you can come and they'll run the simulator for you. The simulator is designed to emulate how the tracks were configured during WWII. They even have an antique clock wired into the simulator to give you the simulated time.
I was invited by Benny of Tenacious Toys to be a part of their first custom toy show, the Candy-Coated Custom Show. The show was held on April 21, 7-9pm at The London Candy Company, 1442 Lexington Ave. New York, NY 10128.
The theme of the show was either candy or something British; I decided to focus on doing something totally different than my usual work. I wanted to create a piece that not only would allow people to view it but also had them play with it. After much deliberation and trial-and-errors, I decided to concentrate on making a real working gumball/mystery machine.
This was created using a 10" Mad*L and incorporating parts from a gumball machine into it. There were many obstacles in making this:
- getting the base of the figure to hold the slot/wheel
- getting the wheel to work correctly
- getting the quarter to fall into the correct place in the back
- getting a way to get into the figure to grab the quarters and locking it
- getting a way to put gumballs into the head
- getting the head to have the gumballs fall into the base correctly
- etc. etc.
At the show, the idea would be to put a quarter into the slot, turn the wheel and catch the gumball that comes out. I placed 2 marbles (the "eyes of the dragon") inside with the gumballs and if you were lucky to grab one of the marbles, you would win a prize (one of my "Circuit Death" t-shirts).
Throughout the night, people were popping in quarters and only 1 person won a shirt!
This was probably my most ambitious and first functioning custom vinyl toy. I chose to not do too much paint work on the figure and keep it more to a mystery machine. Character on the front says dragon, one on the back is my last name. My piece will be up for sale here: www.tenacioustoys.com/The_Candy_Coated_Custom_Show_s/176.htm
I hope people enjoyed my machine because I'm not sure if I would tackle something like this again! Props to Benny & Steph of Tenacious Toys for putting a great show together and allowing me to be a part of it!!!

Our Maker Art class created a Time Machine this year, inviting you to travel through time from the age of dinosaurs to the 50th century.
Our 4th and 5th graders at the Lycée Français designed their own scenes from the past, present or future, and brought them to life with motion, lights and sounds. They also worked in teams to build interactive features like illuminated keypads, spinners and doors, using the popular Arduino platform.
In our after-school classes, we combine art, technology and storytelling to help children create their own magical worlds. They learn to design their ideas, build them with a variety of tools, animate them with electronics and tell their stories. This unique multimedia course helps them develop their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills -- and builds their confidence that they can help change the world.
This year, we had a really good group of 9 students, ages 8 to 11 -- many of whom had taken our Maker Art classes before. They were very creative and engaged, and did a great job presenting their work at the Lycée Français -- and at Marinovators at the College of Marin on April 22.
This Maker Art class was taught by Fabrice Florin and Edward Janne at the Lycée Français in Sausalito in winter 2017. We met every week for 12 workshops of 90 minutes each, Thursdays at 3:30pm, from January 5 to March 30, 2017. Our teachers are part of the Tam Makers learning community and we prepared materials for this project in our state-of-the-art makerspace at the nearby Tam High School.
