now to make the flags. The sensors can pick up any conductive material so, naturally some scrap aluminum was the easiest choice. here I am drilling out a couple of blocks to be used as the flags.

Abandoned machine being claimed by the plants in a back yard

The Iron Works complex, along the Rock River in downtown Beloit.

The flag is painted in such a way that it appears to glow from within. The flag is made from old hardwood foundry patterns which were once used to create the sand molds into which molten metal was poured. These helped give form to the parts for the paper machines made by the former Beloit Corporation and Beloit Iron Works. At one time over two thirds of all the paper machines in the world were based on Beloit engineering and design; many of the machines themselves were built in Beloit.

I have learned the flag is called "American Echoes" and it's by Jim Spelman of www.jimspelmanvisuals.com/.

My friend Kathryn asked me to take pictures of vending machines for her... that's why there are so many.
