Old equipment from the machines shops at the Swindon Great Western railway works. Part of the STEAM Museum in Swindon, Wiltshire.
One of my students at GSC called the etching press a "print machine" which made me laugh. I think this little letterpress should be more appropriately dubbed "The Print Machine" ;)

My first fabric on paper mixed media collage from Jane LaFazio's class forms the central motif. As a non-conformist, my circles (the theme of the assignment) broke open to reveal a path into the clockwork of the universe. A pendulum swings to mark the start of spring. (The edge finish of the quilt is not yet decided or complete.)
This photograph, taken in the Hawthorn Leslie yard, Hebburn is of a Shotblast Machine Showing Manipulators, Sept 1960.
Reference: 2931-43-10
This image is taken from an album produced by the world famous shipbuilding and engineering firm of Hawthorn Leslie. The album gives us a fascinating glimpse of life at the company's shipyard at Hebburn from the late 1930s to the 1960s. There are remarkable images of the men at work in the yard and a poignant series showing the terrible damage caused during the Second World War to HMS Kelly, one of Hawthorn Leslie's best loved ships.
This particular collection of images follows the Birth and ultimate Death of a ship. From the craft and pride in its production and the joy in its performance, to the devastation and price of its destruction.
A blog about this fascinating collection can been viewed here on the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums website.

1970 AMC Rebel "THE MACHINE". There are a few minor imperfections evident, but basically a well-preserved example of this relatively obscure muscle car.
Here is the trophy for Best War Machine in the Battle theme at Bricks Cascade 2015. The trophy features a mid-nineteenth-century cannon, and it went to Brick Brigade for a build featuring marines dropping from a pair of V-22 Ospreys to battle invading mechs.

A very odd machine on display at the Reynolds Alberta Museum (of transport), also extremely difficult to photograph where it is displayed in the museum:
A 1949 Multi-Ped, a one-off: "1949, Edward (Ward) Snell of Edmonton wanted to design a machine that would travel over muskeg and rough terrain. Wheeled vehicles often got bogged down under these conditions, so Snell made his tractor walk rather than roll. The "legs" move independently, making the tractor walk.
Along with Aimee Dragon, who owned a repair shop in Wetaskiwin, Snell built this prototype between 1947 and 1949.
Engine: Case Model R tractor, 4 cylinder Waukesha
Horsepower: 20 hp @ 1425 rpm
Bore & Stroke: 83 x 102 mm (3-1/4 x 4 inches)
