I can`t imagine that there was anything so special about DMS 2204 that I needed to take a picture of it with a lamp post shadow on it at Hook on 7 March 1982. This and many DMS`s in this number range had very short service lives with LT though many found use with other operators.
I`m actually quite surprised that I bothered to take this picture on 7 April 1982 as by then my interest in anything Green Line had just about ended. With the network revamped to effectively save the brand, the unfamiliarity of the vehicles, destinations and shared workings with other operators was so much removed from what I used to like about Ecclestone Bridge with LT designed buses. Now, Green Line used Victoria Coach Station with `proper` coaches such as RS 136 in the company of Alder Valley 93 with both upstaging the style and age of nearby National Express vehicles.
With no blinds or garage code / running number, M 503 obviously isn`t in service on Chiswick High Road near Turnham Green Terrace on 25 March 1981. So, why the passengers? My guess is that the trip has originated from Chiswick Works and could well be to do with an agency supplying `passengers` for some sort of publicity filming. Having done several of these events I can identify with the scenario but having the bus dressed up with a route number would be more usual unless whatever was happening only involved the bus interior.

RM 24 in London Road Croydon on 14 April 1983. One more overhaul keeping the same body would happen in 1984 and following withdrawal in 1987 a short period of use with an engineering company would lead into active preservation in 1993. With the same owner to this day, RM 24 is as mechanically perfect as is possible and can be seen on private hires and rally appearances in Dorset.
The lack of passengers and a running number plate - along with the location at Stanmore Church - gives this view away as a staged shot. Harrow Weald`s `second `showbus` RM 855 was taken out for a photo shoot on 29 July 1981 whilst hardly anything else was on the roads as people watched the wedding of Charles and Diana on television.
No matter how much effort went into recreating a retro 1960`s look there would always be things that were 1980`s operational requirements and couldn`t be dispensed with. Such as the radio aerial dome on the roof......
Lt. Cmdr Data, as portrayed by Brent Spiner
Props include an isolinear chip, and Spot. I have some better ideas on how his hair could be done, but the elements I'd prefer to use don't yet exist in the dark-brown color just yet. For now, this is the best I've come up with. Spot is from some of the new HP collectible minifigures, and Data's eyes are from one of the new HP Brickheadz.

RML 2445 on Edgware Road approaching Marble Arch on 30 September 1982. Unusual to see a mix of black and blue blinds resulting from the 616 limited stop route being withdrawn and the 16a diverted away from Victoria to cover the Oxford Circus portion of the former 616.
Even more unusual is that some forty years on from this picture, RML 2445 can be found in the small rear courtyard of a pub fronting the northern side of Fleet Street.
The Sunday variant of the 279 had, by the date of this picture on 6 June 1982, become the 279a and had Liverpool Street as its southern terminus. It`s where RCL 2244 is waiting though to be precise this is actually outside what was then Broad Street Station. Did any of us who were working in central London back then really notice how dirty many of the buildings were? We just accepted it as `normal`.
When new, M 427 was allocated to the Experimental Shop at Chiswick Works. There appears to be some sort of test equipment (and a person) at the back of the lower deck when I captured this view in Chiswick High Road on 25 March 1981.
RML 2435 at Oxford Circus on 19 February 1980. There were a few instances of 30` long Routemasters being allocated as driver trainers to garages that didn`t actually operate `long` Routemasters in service. Didn`t really matter if space existed but it was a strange idea to put three RCL trainers into Mortlake Garage where the three narrow openings precluded the use of RML`s on the 9`s. Plus quite a challenge for a trainee driver to get safely in and out of the garage.
Bizarrely after uploading a picture yesterday of a bus with no legal lettering, this one also has none displayed!
Probably a rushed shot as I wouldn`t want that traffic light pole taking up so much of the picture. But finding one of the few London Country DMS driver trainers in central London must have been an unexpected surprise. I seem to recall that there were only about six or seven of these used in 1980-2. This is DMS 633 at Oxford Circus (Regent Street) forty four years ago today on 29 September 1981. Was this was a route learning trip rather than a trainee driver because if it were the latter wouldn`t an L plate be a legal requirement?
Capturing on film a bus en-route to or from Aldenham was a matter of luck given that the exact movement time or route details wouldn`t be common knowledge. Here near Turnpike Lane Station on 26 October 1981, RM 619 is on its way to Aldenham for overhaul having been collected from Stamford Hill Garage.
Very recently out of overhaul, RML 2701 looks good at Oxford Circus on 24 October 1981. It can be seen clearly here that the bonnet number plate is a darker shade of red.
