2 weeks on from discovering the den site of a family of rural foxes, mum has been doing less feeding and dropping in, and the cubs are starting to expand their exploration of their territory. This cub I've named solo as it seems happier than the others to venture out of the den alone.

I find it calming to sit and watch the great crested grebes grebes glide by on my local pools. I waited for this one to reach part of the water where the reflections were a warm peach colour, which also helped to push the bright red of the grebe's eye and ruff forward.
With the easing of Lockdown restrictions here in England we’ve finally been able to travel and take up the holiday that we originally had booked for Easter 2020, and which we had shunted down to 2021. Good to be out and about again.
This image was a simple handheld grab at the start of a walk around the lake. Many more images from our trip to follow.

I take pictures because I like it, not because I am good at it.

It never really wants to be summer here on the Italian Riviera. Sometimes it rains that you wouldn't send a dog out. The picture I took on a rainy day in the port of Oneglia/Imperia fits the weather by lifting the camera low, directly above a puddle.
I'm sure this scene is very familiar to you all as I take pictures quite often of it. Although, it has been some time.

African wild dog puppy in the Mana Pools NP, Zimbabwe, taken while on a walking safari.
In the Mana Pools NP you are able to approach wild animals on foot with a certified guide.
You get as close as the animals feel comfortable.
If you get too close, they will flee.
African wild dogs are somewhat relaxed about this.
When they start frolicking, they forget their flight distance and come quite close to you.
This is the possibility to get nice eye level shots of these guys, which would not be possible from the vehicle.
All animals in Africa bite, but the safari bug is the worst.
