Captured from a unique vantage point, this image showcases a female kestrel, standing against the backdrop of the vast steppe of the Monegros in Spain. The low angle shot, taken from a burrow in the ground, accentuates her towering presence.
With 2000' of continuous welded rail (CWR) in tow, a pair of venerable SD40-2 workhorses put on a nice show as they charge up the grade at Milton, Ontario. Days that start like this tend to be good ones...
This month the theme was chosen by Jette, who has chosen
"Low Angle and 'L' for..." for the challenge. This is my contribution, a low angle shot of a slide at the local playground.
I hope all's as good as it can be Jette, our thoughts are with you.
A juvenile Green Heron displays its characteristic patience, perched elegantly on a single leg. Captured with a shallow depth of field, the bird stands in sharp relief against a soft, lush background of blurred green foliage, creating a beautiful bokeh effect that emphasizes its velvet-green back and rich chestnut neck as well as its developing crown feathers.
I am grateful for your continued support and appreciate every view, fave, and comment!

A few weeks ago my father almost died due to a sudden illness and he was being treated in a hospital for several days. We were beside him all that time, and hoped for the best. Gladly he survived.
I took this photo on my way home.
Another photo from Praia da Oura - pretty much the same viewpoint as yesterday's upload but the camera almost touching the water. Unfortunately the tide was too high to explore the countless little boulders and sea stacks lining that end of the beach but who can complain when the weather is nice and warm!

A trio of CSX trains are tied down at 'Forks', just outside of Buffalo, New York on a damp November evening.
A striking low-angle natural scene focusing on a row of palm trees silhouetted against a vibrant blue sky filled with white cumulus clouds.
Several tall date palm trees that line the lower portion of the frame are arranged diagonally, leading the viewer's eye from the lower left towards the right. This diagonal line, combined with the varying heights of the trees, adds depth and dynamic visual interest.
The single bird in flight visible in the upper right quadrant adds a small dynamic element and a sense of scale and life to the vast sky, though its size makes it a subtle detail.
Shooting from a low angle emphasizes the height and gracefulness of the trees
against the sky, creating a more impactful perspective than an eye-level shot.
The composition effectively uses the row of palm trees as a strong leading line, drawing the viewer's eye diagonally across the frame. The silhouetted effect provides a clear subject contrast against the bright sky and clouds.
The deep blue of the sky provides a strong backlighting and appealing contrast to the white, textured clouds and the dark silhouettes of the trees, making the colors feel vibrant and natural.
The composition layering and perspective create a strong sense of three-dimensionality and depth.
The high contrast and vivid colors create a visually captivating and dynamic photograph.

These are the new giants that fill the plains of La Mancha. I had to deal with them, ending up lying face up on the ground with my camera in order to get some very low-angle pictures.

The first shot with my newly acquired vintage manual lens. My poor eyes had more trouble with the manual focus than they did when I first borrowed an analogue slr nearly thirty years ago but that background blur is very satisfying.
It's party up front, business in the back as Canadian National's 1500 job works the Bunge facilities in Hamilton's industrial heartland behind a venerable EMD GP40-2.
